Gina Lollibrigida Is Moss Beautiful By VERNON SCOTT UPI Hollywood Correspondent HOLLYWOOD (UPD— It can be said without equivocation that Gina Lollibrigida is the most beautiful actress in the world. At least I can say it unequivocally. Maybe your taste runs more to Elizabeth Taylor or Audrey Hepburn or Doris Day. But then odds are you haven't seen most of the movie stars in the flesh. I have. For some reason, known only to Thomas Edison, Gina does not photograph quite as startlingly beautiful as she is in person. . i Smooth As Wine She is breathtaking off-screen. Her brown eyes are enormous. They closely resemble the eyes Walt Disney creates for his forest creatures, particularly for fawns and deer. Her skin, unlike many Italian beauties, is ivory and as smooth as white Italian wine. Her nose is a fraction too long, providing her with a slight imperfection, without which, beauty experts agree, no woman is really gorgeous. In repose her mouth is firm and sensuous. In conversation it expresses her feelings more clearly than her words. Her figure is ladylike; that is, not voluptuous. And her unguarded Italian accent tickles the ears outrageously. It also is an imperfection that enhances BERNE C For Delegate to State Convention —Berne C CHRISTIAN H. rather than detracts. Terrine Ktaaer You put them all together, and there isn't much room for improvement. Gina arrived here from Italy recently to costar with Rock Hudson in “Strange Bedfellows” at Universal. Studio employes, accustomed to raving beauties, stop in their tracks, half paralyzed, when Gina emerges from her dressing room. You almost expect them to shout, "Viva Garibaldi.” Or maybe, "Gina for President.” Asked how it felt to look into a mirror and see that terrific kisser looking back at her, Gina flushed with embarrassment. "They try to make me look like an American woman when I work over here.” she Said, deftly changing the subject. "But I won’t allow them to do it.” There’s One Flaw Gina’s impact on the rest of the world is as devastating as it is in Hollywood. In recent months she has made pictures in Spain, England, France and Italy. Her leading men have been equally international. Her costar in “Imperial Venus,” was Steve Boyd tan Irishman); in "The Wild Sea,” Frenchman Jean Paul Belmondo; in “Woman Os Straw,” Scotsman Sean Connery; and now Rock Hudson, the all-American boy. There is one irrevocable flaw attendant to Gina that dashes the hopes of all men, however. She is married. But then Audrey and Doris are tied up. Elizabeth Taylor is taken now, too - at least for the time being. For Precinct Committeeman — Decntur 2 B WALTER T. BUTCHER, 112 N. 9th St. Decatur LEONIEL L. Rave Notices Pose Problems To Girls By GAY PAULEY UPI Women’s EiMtor NE WYORK (UPD—A couple of teen-aged girls who received rave notices in the first movie they ever made take their new fame with a mixture of modesty and wonder at what happens next. Tippy Walker, 17, of Rye, N.Y., says, “I don’t consider myself a star or anything like that. I simply acted in a movie the critics liked. Now, though, I've got to decide more things. Like am I going to be an actress.” Merrie Spaeth, 15, of Philadelphia, figured that making one film has “pushed me ahead four years even though I was gone for only four months.” “I’ve learned you can’t judge people by what they look like,” said the blonde with the pigtails. “I’m happier. I’m nicer to people than I’ve ever been in my life.” Was In Doubt Miss Walker, a natural blonde who went brunette for the movies, was in doubt about a career in acting although the producing company has both under five-year contract now for one picture each year. But the one film convinced Miss Spaeth, who had performed in school plays earlier. Now she has found acting "tremendous fun —the movies and stage both gratifying.” “But I want to go on to colFur Delegate to State Convention —South Kirkland L. lege too,” she added. “I guess I’m trying to walk a middle line. But I worry, what will happen to me?” The movie in which the novice actresses appeared is “The World of Henry Orient,” starring Peter Sellers. Pan Arts Co. made the film in which the Misses Walker and Spaeth play a precocious pair who attach themselves vigilantly to the coat-tails of a woman - chasing musician (Sellers), leading him a dismal life. New York critics referred to them as "two captivating newcomers,” as “ready - made comes one of the jolliest teams in all movie annals.” One critic called them “delightful youngsters ... the nicest proof since Hayley Mills that little girls are made of sugar and spice.” The two ham it up considerably in the film, what with a phony death scene on a street and with jumping fire hydrants leap-frog style. “I still can’t pass a fire hydrant without wanting to go over it,” said Miss Spaeth. “I did the other day in Philadelphia strictly without thinking .in heels and all.
