formed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Boyd Stepler, former residents of this community. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hajtovak. The bride, given in marriage by h A r uncle. Norman Finlay, Fort Wayne, wore a white gown of silk organza and Venise lace. The floor length gown featured a bell shaped skirt, and the bodice of organza was fashioned with Swiss embroidered appliques with a scoop neckline and elbow length sleeves The waistline was accented with a ribbon band and bow. Her shoulder length veil of French illusion was fastened to a double crown of pearls. She carried a cascade arrangement of white carnations and lilies of the valley and wore a single strand of pearls, a gift from the groom. Miss Lynne Stepler, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor in a French blue organza and lace gown. The lace bodice was styled with a bateau neckline and short sleeves. Her bouffant skirt of organza was fashioned with a deep hemline. She wore a matching crown with circular veiling and matching shoes and gloves and carried a cascade bououet of white and blue carnations. John Hajtovak, brother of the groom, acted as best man, and Larry Plew of Linton and Jim Hajtovak, brother of the groom, served as ushers. Both mothers wore beige dress-

es with matching accessories and white carnation corsages. Mrs. Ida Stepler. Decatur, .the bride's grandmother, chose a navy blue suit. She also wore a corsage of white carnations. A reception for 125 guests was held irr the social rooms of the church following the ceremony. The bride is a graduate of Millensburg high school, and she attended Indiana University and the Ray Vogue school of interior decorating in Chicago. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority and is employed as head secretary in the radiology department at the Methodist hospital in Gary. The groom is a graduate of Gary high school and attended the Chicago Art Institute. He is employed as an interior and exterior designer and decorator. The couple will live in Gary. ACTIVITIES PLANNED BY NAOMI CIRCLE The Naomi circle of the Decatur EUB church held the April meeting at the home of Mrs. Herald Hitchcock with Mrs. Ray Shackley as leader. The theme of the lesson was, “How to be a good witness.” A panel consisting of Mrs. Herald Hitchcock, Mrs. Gerald Light, Miss Sue Shackley, Mrs. Robert Raudenbush and Mrs. Hazel Bragg read and discussed the ways and means of being a good witness. Rules for visiting the sick in hospitals and homes were read. The group then sang a song entitled “Help Somebody Today.” Mrs. James Johnson read the scripture, and the leader read a prayer after all had stood in silent prayer. The minutes were read and some bulletins were read by Mrs. Gerald Light, announcing that the world service day of prayer will be held April 26 and the speaker will be from Dayton, Ohio. The May fellowship will be held May 1, and the senior citizens banquet will be held April 28 at Bethany. The mother and daughter banquet will be held May 22 at the Community Center. The project for the months of April, May and June will be to help mental patients by financing excursions which they enjoy. For one dollar one can become a member of the Indiana association for mental health. Mrs. Robert Raudenbush reported that a total of sixty-six beautiful aprons were turned in and sent to the Haven Hubbard home in New Carlisle. The next meeting will be spent in visiting the shut-ins and the sick, and the group is asked to meet at the home of Mrs. Frank Kitson at 7 p.m. instead of 7:30 p.m., May 11. The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Gerald Light. Refreshments were served by the hostess to the ten members and one visitor, Mrs. Winston Rawley, present. Locals David Griffiths, a former Adams county resident, student at Adams Central, and F. F. A. member, now a sophomore student at Avilla high school, has won the top individual score of Noble county in livestock judging. He is eligible for the district contest to be held at Angola. Ray E. Heller of route 4, stopped in to renew his paper today. He has been a subscriber since. 1906. GIRL SCOUTS Troop 178 Girl Scout troop 178 met Monday at the Communi y Center. Patrol 2 had the opening ceremony. Then Mrs. Borne showed us how to make a bedroll and told us what we needed for our campout May 1. Patrol 3, working for their dramatics badge, put on several skits. Sheriff Guest At Prayer Breakfast Sheriff Roger Singleton will be guest speaker at the men’s prayer breakfast at the Decatur Youth and Community Center Saturday morning at 6:30 o’clock. The sheriff will participate in a question and answer sessison pertaining to problems of the community. He will be inter-, viewed by the Rev. .Sylvester Martin and the Rev. Carey snittle. Lase Grimm will give his personal testimony. Don Sliger president of the group, extends a welcome to every man in the community to attend. National Tea Sales, Earnings Increase Norman A. Stepelton, president , of the National Tea Co., announced that earnings for the twelve week period ended March 21, were up 35.8 per cent over the same period last year, on a sales increase of 5.4 per cent. Sales for the period were $248,423,410, an increase of $12,673,596 over the same period last year, when sales were $235,749,814. Earnings were $1,977,119. an increase of $521,110 over the same period last year. Stahl, R.R. 1, Geneva, a senior, has been elected to membership in the Indiana University chapter. Beta Gamma Sigma national business honorary. In all, 38 current students and eight February graduates were so named to the society; the highest recognition for scholarship achievement awarded the business student. Formal initiation of the spring class of initiates will be held May 11. Kentucky Man Is Freed Under Bond Donald Dean Terry, 33-year-old resident of Nortonville, Ky., has been released from the Adams county jail under SI,OOO bond. Terry had been, arraigned in the Adams court on charges of false pretense and fraudulent, check. He was apprehended rseveral weeks ago in Owensboro, Ky., on a warrant from this county, and last week was. transferred to this county from there after completion of extraditioif'proceedings.
