I I V ' Miss Kathleen Kohne & m.™J Jn f, Dr. Gerald J. Kohne announces the engagement of his daughter, Kathleen, to David C. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Smith of Owensboro, Ky. Miss Kohne is a graduate of Decatur Catholic high school and of Northwestern University, where she received her bachelor of arts degree in English. She is a member of the national Chi Omega sorority and of the state Tri Kappa sorority. Miss Kohne is presently teaching English in Berwyn, 111. Her fiance received his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton, his master of science degree from Northwestern University, and will receive his Ph. D. in mechanical engineering and astronautical sciences from Northwestern this June. The wedding will take place June 27 at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Decatur.
CLOSING MEETING OF HISTORICAL CLUB The Historical club held its closing meeting recently at the Zion United Church of Christ. A delicious dinner served by the ladies of the church at 12:30 o’clock was enjoyed by 21 members and 14 guests. The tables were placed in the shape of a large cross with Easter decorations consisting of a large white bunny and eggs in a nest as a center piece. This was flanked on each side the length of the tables by small pink bunnies. Each guest’s place was marked with a plant as a favor. Grace was given by Mrs. Wesley Lehman. Following the dinner, each member then introor guests who accompanied her to the meeting. The president of the club conducted a short business meeting and a program followed the business meeting. S. Alvin O. and Viola May Herrmann Blocker were united in Marriage at the Poneto Methodist parsonage by the Rev. D. A. J. Brown, April 11, 1914. There were four children born to this uniou, Mrs. Richard (Bernice) Buckmaster, of Muncie,- Mrs. Charles (Betty Jo) Chew, and Norris G. Blocker, both of Decatur. One son. Bill, is deceased. The Order of Eastern Star will meet Thursday evening at the Masonic hall at 7:30 p.m. Die new worthy patron will lead the chapter in renewing their obligations. The Order of Eastern Star Decatur Chapter 127 will have a meeting Tuesday evening at 7:30 to be held in the Masonic hall. This will be officers’ practice. Miss Iva I. Zurcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris F. Zurcher of route 1, Monroe, and Ralph W. Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clay F. Williams, were united in marriage March 15 at 1:30 p. m. in the Nazarene church, with the double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. David Holstein, Berne. Music before and during the ceremony was played by Jesse Crawford at the pipe organ and the musical selections included,, the “Bridal Chorus,’’ “Because,” “Oh, Promise Me” and “I Love You Truly.” The bride selected a lace gown for her wedding. The fitted bas? que waist was outlined by a. scalloped neckline and long lac« sleeyes tapered to points over her Wrists. ARLENE PARRISH TO HEAD SUNSHINE SOCIETY Arlene Parrish, junior at Adams Central high school, was chosen as president of the Sunshine society for the coming year. Cheryl Isch was chosen vice president, Karen Bieberich was chosen treasurer, Jane Inniger is the new recording secretary, and Rita King is the corresponding secretary. April 11, Beverly Osterman, this year’s president of the society, Gloria Engle and Marcene Gerber, also present officers, along with Arlene Parrish, will attend the state Sunshine convention at Frankfort high school. They will be accompanied by Mrs. Glen Stucky, who will be installed there as the State chairman of the Sunshine societies of Indiana for the coming year.

Her corsage was red rose buds. At 2:30 o’clock a reception was held in the church annex and servers were Gloria Davidson, Cheryl Davidson, Wanda Hirschy, and Beth Zurcher, nieces of the '..pride. '* For their wedding trip to Pennsylvania and Washington, D. C., the bride wore a three piece black knit suit with black accessories. The bride is a clerk at Kroger store and the groom is an electrician at the Central Foundry in Bedford. They are at home at 1902 15th street in Bedford. CHARITY CIRCLE OF UNION CHAPEL MEETS The Charity circle *of Union Chapel church met Tuesday evening at J.he Home of Mrs. Warren Nidlinger, with 13 members and 3 guests present, Mrs. Cleo Landis, Mrs. Dale Caffee and Mrs. Nile Williamson. Leading the program for the evening was Miss Betty Waiters, whose subject was “What is the Church?”” The hymn, “The’ Church’s One Foundation” was sung by the group. The leader used a flip chart showing our church and the people in it and what makes up our church. Discussions were held on the different types of communion and baptism as expressions of faith. For scripture, the 12th Chapter of Romans was read by Mrs. Ferris Fox. The offering was received followed by prayer by Miss Walters. Mrs. Don Hirschy, circle chairmeeting. Miss Frieda Williamson man, presided at the business read, the minutes of the previous meeting, and the treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Arnold Roughia. The various committees for the mother and daughter banquet, which will be held at the church May 7, gave their reports. Miss Veda Williamson, secretary of spiritual life, brought before the group six steps to Christian worship namely, “prepare . yourself, come expectantly, bring an offering, come to the source of power, look for the best, and go out to serve. ” Special prayer was offered for the missionaries. It was decided to have a free will offering for layettes for the Oje mission in New Mexico. An announcement was made that the Charity circle would join with the united church women of Decatur for the May fellowship to be held May 1. The next meeting will be held May 14 at the home of the Misses Veda and Frieda Williamson, with Mrs. Don Smith as leader. Delicious refreshments were served to the group by the hostess, Mrs. Nidlinger.

KATHLEEN HARTMAN WEDS WM. SCHRECK This morning at 10 o’clock. Miss Kathleen Hartman became the bride of William Schreck in St. Jude’s Catholic church in Fort Wayne. Last evening his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Schreck, were hosts for the rehearsal dinner at the Fort Wayne Country club. Guests from out of the city attending the dinner and wedding are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burdsall of Short Hills, N. MEETS THURSDAY The Monroe Methodist Woman’s Society of Christian Service met Thursday evenin? in the church feltowshio room. The prelude was played by Mrs. Homer Winteregg and the group sang, “Our God, Our Help.” Devotions<were given by Mrs. Eli Schwartz, who read from Hebrews 10:22-25 and closed with a poem from “Together." A duet was sung by Mrs. James Nussbaum and Mrs. Herbert Fruchte. Mrs. Arlen Mitchel gave a report on the woman’s federation. The lesson theme, “The Church in the World,” was presented by Mrs. Glen Stucky. She called on Mrs. Homer Winteregg and Mrs. Russel Mitchel to give their first impressions or remembrances of church. The group was reminded that this year is also the 24th anniversary of the WSCS. A candle lighting service was observed whereby the president held a large candle and those who were charter members lighted their candles from the large one and then those who have belonged 10 years and longer and then the remaining ones. Mrs. Elmo Stuckey, secretary of promotion, welcomed the nine new members. The song, “Jesus Calls Us,” was sung by the group. Mrs. Harry Crownover, president, told about the call to the Women’s Society. Mrs. Harvey Haggard read a paper, “We are called to pray,” Mrs. Elmo Stuckey read, “We are called to serve,” arid Mrs. Glen Stucky read, “We are called to give.” Then the new president opened the business meeting with prayer. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and approved and theconscience dues were collected. The conference WSCS meeting will be April 15 at Kokomo. Mrs. Dove Snyder dismissed the meeting with prayer. Delicious refreshments were served by the Mesdames, Martin Steiner, Russel Mitchel, Chris Inniger, Rene Brandt, Homer Winteregg, Grace Burns, and Daisy Bahner. The next meeting will be the mother-daughter banquet May 7. The Order for Rainbow for Girls will attend Sunday church services in a body with their worthy advisor, Miss Janet Winteregg. EWERREADY CLASS MEETS RECENTLY The Everready Sunday school class of the Methodist church met recently in the church lounge, with 17 members answering roll call. The meeting opened with prayer by Mrs. Jesse Niblick. Mrs. Frank Crist choose as her. theme fordevotions “Prayer and Personal Religion,” and closing with prayer. Mrs. Delton Passwater conducted a memorial service for Mrs. Frank Wells, who passed away recently. A poem was read entitled “There Must be Something After Death,” using as a scripture reading a part of the 14 chapter of St. John. Mrs. Asa Pollock sang “Beyond the Sunset” and Mrs. John Nelson presided over the business session. The program chaiman, Mrs. Fred Hancher, read an Easter story by Charles Dickens. Hostesses foe the meeting were Mrs. Bertha Lanning, Mrs. E. W. Johnson, and Mrs. Delton Pass water, and delicious refreshments were served by this committee.
