Phone Hoagland IS-M. 209 TF Camping Department Takes Registrations The camping department of the Fort Wayne YMCA is currently accepting registrations for its YMCA Camp Pooawotami located on Blackman Lake, 35 miles north of Fort Wayne, on state road 3. Ted Heiney, youth work and camp director for the YMCA, has indicated that this camping program is available to Decatur boys 9 years of age through high school. A variety of kinds of camping is offered to boys and to families. The regular in-camp program for boys 9 to 15 years of age, which is conducted at the Blackman Lake site, offers a well rounndsd program in camping and outdoor skills; boating, canoeing, fishing, sailing, riding, archery, nature, camp craft, handicraft, Indiana lore, riflery, and many others are enjoyed by the campers. In addition, boys who are 12-15 years of age who have had some experience in camping and are able to pass the swimming qualifications of 200 yards are eligible for the intermediate pioneer program which features canoeing on the rivers and lakes of Michigan. A third camping program available is for boys 14 years of age through high school who have had considerable camping or outdoor experience. This features two trips of three week duration in canoeing and camping in the Canadian Quetica and a two week trip hiking and packing on the lower portion of the Appalachian trail. A leadership training program for boys who are currently enrolled in the 9tli grade of school is another type of camping open to area boys. A special interview is required for this program and should be arranged for through the camping office of the Ft. Wayne WMCA immediately. The camping department further extends an invitation to area families to pratidpate in the YMCA family camp which is conducted for three one-week sessions. Each family occupies a cabin or housing unit and may participate in availble camping programs which are informally planned and conducted if they wish. The department also announces that a one week period of camp August 23-August 29 is available to church or school groups to utilize as a retreat, athletic training camp, or band training camp, or other. Minimum size of the group must be 50, maximum size is 100, including leaders. Information concerning any phase of the camping program described above should be directed to Ted Heiney, Camping Director, Fort Wayne YMCA.

Fined On Charge Os Public Intoxication James Logan Ball, 29, who resides in Fort Wayne, was remanded to the county jail this morning when unable to pay a fine in city court. Ball was fined $1 and costs, amounting to s2l, in city court on a charge of public intoxication, but when unable to pay, was remanded to jail to “lay out” the fine. B<ul was arrested by the city police at 10:45 p.m. Friday in an alley behind 633 N. Tenth St., and was jailed before appearing before city Judge John B. Stults this morning. Dr. Jared Gerig At St. Paul Missionary Dr. Jared Gerig, president of Fort Wayne Bible College, Fort Wayne, will be the guest speaker and the Conquerors through Christ quartet, also from the Colloge, will be the musicians at the St. Paul Missionary church. They will be in the morning services in an annual observance of Bible College Sunday. Service times are 9:15 a.m. The quartet is composed of Jim Blomquist, Ron Hege, Grant Osborne, all of Fort Wayne; Keith Sholl of Ed-'' gerton, Ohio; and accompanist, Mrs. Jan Blomquist. Dr. Gerig has had a wide ministry in various phases of Christion service. He has pastored churches in several cities in the United States, and has served as dean of Fort Wayne Bible College, and of Azusa College, Azusa, Calif. In 1952 he was elected president of his denomination, The Missionary Church Association, with the headquarters of its world-wide ministry located in Fort Wayne. He served in this capacity for six years. At present he is president of Fort Wayne Bible College, the denominational school. Fort Wayne Bible College is coeducational and offers full college programs with emphasis upon training for Christion service, teacher training, missionary nursing, and music education.
