The Shakespeare club will meet at the home of Mrs. Jacob Braun February 26. Members please note the change as the meeting was scheduled at Mrs. Fred Bell's home. The Prebyterian Women’s Association will not meet this Wednesday as stated in Friday and Saturday’s papers. The meeting will be Wednesday, February 26. EVANGELINE CIRCLE HOLDS RECENT MEETING The Evangeline Circle of the United Church of Christ held its meeting recently in the home of Mrs. La Vern Roth. The meeting was opened with devotions given by Mrs. Roger Keller. She read an article which gave a contrast between two of the greatest presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. She also read a passage from the Bible. Mrs. TorA Schlotterback gave a very interesting lesson on life and religions of the Southern Asian countries of Nepal, India, Ceylon, and Pakistan. Roll call was taken with the eighteen members present answering, With a household hint and the number of sick and social calls. Forty-three social calls and twenty-three sick calls were reported. The program books for the year were passed out, and Mrs. James Tumbleson gave each member some nylon netting to use in the kitchen. All old business was taken care of and new business was discussed. The Evangeline Circle has been asked to sing at the March meeting of the church guild. The song was rehearsed after the business meeting. Mrs. William Feller asked if any children were interested in attending the world day of prayer services. The meeting was closed with the following proverb given by Mrs. James Tumbleson: “When you are down in the mouth remember Jonah, he came out alright.” Valentine favors were made for toe hospital, and bids were made on toe silent auction. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. La Vern Roto and Mrs. Don Moser. The Lois Circle of the Decatur E. U. B. church will meet Thursday at 9 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Doris Johnson. Mrs. Josephine Andrews will be the leader. The Adams County Nurses Association will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at toe American Legion. Members please note the change of place from I & M building to toe American Legion. The De Molay will meet Saturday at the Masonic lodge. Initiation will be held at 2:30 p.m. There will be a banquet at 5:30 p.m., which will be followed by a program at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to toe evening program. The Pythian Sisters will meet next Monday night, February 24, at the Moose home instead of tonight as incorrectly stated in this paper.

Miller of Villa Park, 81., formerly of Decatur, and James Roy Osborne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Osborne of Cassopolis, Mich., were recently united in marriage in toe Calvary E. U. B. Church, Villa Park, 111. Rev. Kenneth Truckenbrod officiated at to edouble ring ceremony before an altar decorated with white mums and red roses. —The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length of illusion fell from a crown of gown of brocaded satin. Her veil of illusion fell from a crown of seed pearls. She carried a white orchid surrounded by prummalias. Miss Judith Naslund served as maid of honor in a g own of emerald green satin. She carried a bouquet of red roses. Wayne Von Stain, of Forrest Park, 111., served as best man. Ushers were Kenneth and Arsey Miller, brothers of the bride. A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents. Following a short wedding trip the couple are at home at 38 South Charles Avenue, Villa Park, 111. The groom is employed with toe American Telephone and Telegraph Co., Lee, 111. The new Mrs. Osborne is the granddaughter of Mrs. Phoebe Miller of Decatur. Mrs. Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Miller of Decatur and Mrs. Ervin Burley, Linda Burley and Gary Priddy of Convoy, Ohio, attended the wedding.

COOTIES AUXILIARY EXPRESSES THANKS The Cooties Auxiliary held its meeting recently at the V. F. W. Post with thirteen members present. Several things of interest were discussed. It was announced that three members of the local group took a guided tour of the Veterans hospital at Marion. They saw many things which toe patients make but of which the local group provides for the' hospital. They use scrap wood, upholstery material, drapery material, old nylon hose, rice paper and almost anything which people normally throw away. At the present they need the things listed above and old clothing which carpet rags can be made i from. The auxiliary wants to thank the people who have generously donated materials. They include Husmann’s Decorating House, DeI catur Industries, Albion ManufacI turing, Wayne Novelty CorporaI -tion, Bag Service, Inc., Art Hurst, and the Dunbar Furniture Company, toe Smith Brothers Furniture Company, and the Swiss City Furniture Comany, the latter three of Berne, and Standard Lumber of Fort Wayne. Many people have helped by giving items, and the auxiliary is sorry if they have missed anyone. The auxiliary is holding a skating party, February 18, at "Happy Hours Rink” east of Decatur. All profits will go to toe hospital fund. Tickets may be brought by going to the V. F. W. home after 3 p.m. Monday, or by calling 3-4128 or 3-4780. They will be delivered. The next meeting will be February 24, with nomination of officers for the next year. All members urged to attend. The "Grand Scratch” is May 2, 3, and 4. Johnson of Bluffton has announced the engagement of his youngest daughter, Carolyn Ann, to David DeWayne Schaefer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Schaefer ■ —-.• ■ ———. — ■-. == ANNUAL PSI IOTA XI LUNCHEON IS HELD The 45th annual Psi lota Xi sorority mid-year luncheon was held February 8 in the Egyptian room at the Murat Temple in Indianapolis. Beta Gama chapter from Peru served as hostess. Local delegates attending from Alpha Delta chapter were Mrs. Roger L. Stevens, president, and Mns. Thomas Buuck, treasurer. There were over 700 delegates "and members attending from Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and Michigan. ", The theme for the luncheon was “Old Fashioned Garden," from the title of a Cole Porter song Tables were decoated appropriately with miniature garden scenes of flowers, picket fences, and wishing wells. Favors at each place were nosegays of handkerchiefs. The program, “A Salute to Cole Porter,” (a native of Peru, Ind.) was presented by the Pei'u high school swing choir which consisted of eight girls and eight boys dressed in evening attire. Guests of the council who were seated at the head table were Miss Elsie Sweeney of Columbus, prominent in the field of music and art, and Mrs. Robert Volger, national publicity chairman. pie first mid-winter convention, asMhe mid-year luncheon was then called, was held in Indianapolis in 1919. At the first convention it was voted to establish the scholarship fund. Through the years Psi lota Xi has awarded many scholarships. The present major scholarship project is in the field of speech and hearing therapy, and today, on the local level, there are 47 chapters awarding scholarships.; 22 chapters sponsoring existing clinics and 24 chapters contributing fuhds to new clinic projects for building and equipnjent, with the national budget contributing an additional SIO,OOO. No buisinfesn is now transacted at the mid-year luncheon.
