By Pete Reynolds The Decatur Commodores, paced by the fine outside shooting of Ed Kohne and Dan Lose, recorded their 13th victory of the season Friday night, turning back the Harlan Hawks, 69-65. at the Decatur gym. The Commodores have lost six contests. The Commodores drew first blooji when Dick Qmk>r drove under for an easy ‘layup from the opening tipoff. A pair of long skyscrapers by Dan Lose pulled the Commodoares even at 10-10, then his free throw put the Decatur lads out in front to stay. George Waning’s charges boosted their lead to six points, 2014, at the end of the first quarter. The Commodores had their lead up to 10 points in the early stages of the second period, but the Hawks narrowed the gap to seven, 36-29, at the half-time intermission. The Hawks whittled away slightly at the deficit and were down by eight 50-42, entering the final eight minutes of play. The Hawks caused the Commodores some trouble in the late stages of the contest with a pressing defense, twice narrowing the gap to five points. With the score 65-60 and 1:15 to go, Terry Myers eased the pressure when he took a pass wide open for a cripple to boost the Decatur margin back to seven. The Commodores had an eightpoint lead after a pair of free throws by Dick Omlor at 69-61 with 54 seconds to go, Harlan scoring the last four points in the closing seconds.
