Max Hobbs, Fort Wayne attorney who was born in Adams county, has announced as a Democratic candidate for the nomination, subject to the Spring primary. It is far too early to pick a candidate, of course, but Hobbs is very well qualified. A Fort Wayne attorney, he has practiced extensively in the counties of the fourth district. He is alert, intelligent, and interested in the people and problems of the Fourth district. When he was born, his parents lived in the Doc Duke apartment on Second street, and he spent his early years in Decatur. His uncle, Ralph Hobbs, worked here for many years with Belmont Trucking, and his aunt LaVon, was a nurse’s aid at the Adams county memorial hospital. His uncle is now serving as township trustee at Hoagland, and his father has lived for years in the Hoagland-Monroeville area., The Hobbs family, including two young children, John and Tom, attend the Plymouth Congressional Church in Fort Wayne. His sister, Mrs. Ray Franke is a member of the Flat Rock English Lutheran church. His mother’s brother, James Fletcher, bought the Henry Dehner farm in Union township, and the Fletchers, and his grandfather, James C. Fletcher, Sr., live there. . Hobbs’ ability and relative youth are all in his favor. If nominated, he wouM stand a good chance of toppling E. Ross Adair, who win be trying for his eighth two-year term, If elected. Adair may not run; he has considered running for the U. S. Senate. Adair has been completely out of step with President Johnson’s program, and local voters who appreciate what President Johnson has been trying to do, in running a sane, mildly progressive U.
