Miss Marlena Kae Egeler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Kenneth Egeler of Garden City, Long Island, and granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. C< C. Rayl, became the bride of Kenneth Robert Hartley, son of Mrs. Thomas A. Hartley and the late Mr. Hartley of Lynbrook, at an afternoon ceremony performed by Rev. Richard B. Siftith inthe Garden City Community church Saturday, January 25. A reception followed at the Cherry Valley Club. train and a wide hemline edging of alencon lace. Her bouffant veil was crowned by a tiara of matching lace. She carried a crescent of gardenias. Miss Charen Egeler, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Richard Greene, the former Miss Carol Lynn Montgomery, were maid and matron of honor. Both wore emerald green gowns with velvet bodices and satiq skirts with matching velvet roses as headdresses and carried yellow roses with croton leaves. The flower ‘girl. Miss Rachel Kim Hartley, dressed in .yellow velvet, wore a crown of daisies and carried a basket of daisies and mimosa. She was acompanied by Scott Gregory Jacobs, who served as ring bearer. Mrs. Hartley attended Hollins College in Virginia- and was president of her class during training at the hospital of special surgery in New York from which she received the degree of licensed practical nurse. She is employed by Dr. Randolph Gepfert, a leading gynecologist in New York City. Hartley is an alumnus of Adelphi and Hofstra Universities, and he is associated with a foreign car
LISA GILPIN CELEBRATES SIXTH BIRTHDAY RECENTLY Miss Lisa Gilpin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Gilpin, of Decatur, recently celebrated her sixth birthday with a party. She is a pupil at the kindergarten at Lincoln school. Games were played, and refreshments, consisting of cake, ice cream, and punch were served to Eileen Cravens, Stephanie Hakes, Susan and Peter Sotile, Beth Morgan, David Gaunt, Mike Basham, David Olmer, Lori Gilpin, and the guest of honor. Mrs. Wilbur Foor will be hostess for the Hope Circle, WSCS Union Chapel EUB church, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Robert Workinger will be program leader. LIVE AND LEARN HOME CLUB HOLDS MEETING The Live and Learn Home Demonstration club meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Ivan Barkley, with Mrs. Warren Nidlinger as assistant hostess. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Nellie Price, who led the group in repeating the club creed. Devotions were given by Mrs. Barkley followed by group singing of the song of the month, “Home On the Range.’’ Roll call was answered by seventeen members and three guests, Mrs. Patsy Leaders, Mrs. Ferris Fox, and Mrs. Denig, telling “something I plan to do this year”. A pin and gavel were presented to Mrs. Price by the club. She’ 1 will serve as president for the coming year. Mrs. Patsy Leaders, Adams county Home Demonstration agent, then presented a lesson on picture matting. A lesson on cuts of beef and how to cook them was given by Mrs. Leo Workinger and Mrs. Florence Smitley. Cheer sister gifts were presented to Mrs. Forrest Walters, Mrs. Earl Chase, Mrs. |van Barkley, Mrs. Hazel Foor, Mrs. Jack Gray, Mrs. Leo Workingr, and Mrs. Hugh Nidlinger. The meeting closed with the group repeating the club collect. BRIAN DUANE KERSHNER CELEBRATED 3RD BIRTHDAY Brian Duane Kershner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willjam Kershner, and his friends enjoyed a party at the Kershner home Saturday celebrating his third birthday* The many gifts were opened and refreshments served. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs, William Kershner, and Brian Mr. and Mrs. Don Bailey, Theresa, Sheryl, Kim, and Greg; Mrs. Ho Cline, Donald and Becky, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Frank and Susan and Tom Bailer. Mr. and Mr*. Glen Roughia M. & Mr. and Mrs. Glen Roughia, Decatur, route 3, will observe their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, February 9, with open house at the Decatur Community Center for their friends and neighbors, from 2 until 4:30 p. m. They were married February 12, 1914, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mullen, Loda, 111., by Rev. John Killip. The couple have six children, Mrs. Claud (Dorothy) Marckd, Monroe, Mrs. James (Pauline) Moses, Mrs. Donavm (Geraldinei Sprunger, Arnold Roughia, all of Decatur; William L. Roughia of Ossian; Donald R., deceased; sixteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

DECATUR MISSONARY LADIES MEET LAST THURDAY The Ladies Fellowship of the Decatur Missionary Church met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Jack Gray for the regular January meeting. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Mervin Rupp, reading a poem “A Prayer for the New Year.” There were 16 members and four guestis. Mrs. Merrill Johnson, Mrs. Charles Tumbleson, Mrs. Charles Hamrick, and Miss Janet Gray, present. After the business meeting devotions were given by Mrs. Gerald Gerig. A very interesting quiz and report on missionary work in the Missionary church association was given. The remainder of the evening was spent cutting carpet rags, rolling bandages and sorting Sunday school papers for missionaries. Closing prayer was offered by Mrs. Roy Hook. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Gray assisted by Mrs. Adam Reef.

GIRL SCOUTS Troop 384 Troop 384 had their regular meeting Tuesday, January 28 at the Trinity church. We had election of officers for three patrols. Die patrol leader for the Cardinals is Mary Shaffer; the leader for the Rose Buds is Claudia Haggerty; the leader for the Rainbows is Janeen Geimer; the treasurer is Kathy Hutker; the scribe is Linda Miller. Die refreshments were served by Mrs. Johnson. The meeting was closed with the friendship circle. Scribe: Linda Miller Girl Scout Troop 39 Girl Scout troop 39 met at South west school on Tuesday. We said the pledge and the promise and played a game. We divided into four patrols. They are as follows: Yellow Jackets, leader, Jane Bird; Peppy Two, leader Nancy Stapleton; Bumble Bees, leader Dianne Hoffman; Spiders, leader Lynette Reynolds.
