The New White House Library includes fifty-six volumes on religion, including five versions of the Bible. James F. Bunting, Methodist layman, has been named general secretary of the National Board and National Council of YMCA’s in America. More than 2000 married couples —ISOO from Brazil and 500 from other Latin-American countries — participated hi the Hurd Latin American Assembly of the Christian Family Movement at Rio de Janeiro. World Lutheranism, the largest Protestant grouping, now has more than 73,000,000 baptized members, according to figures released at the Fourth Assembly of the Lutheran World Federation. In addition to standard rations, every military seaplane now carries in its collapsible rubber boat a waterproof packaged Bible. Since the experiences of Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker, officials have come to realize that shipwrecked men need spiritual equipment as well as food and water. Church-related overseas relief operations will share in a new Food for Peace program to aid Koreans by providing United States food as payment for work on community development projects. Church World Service, material aid agency for National Council of Churches member denominations, the Seventh-day Adventists and CARE will distribute wheat that will be made available by the United States government.
