FINAL PLANS MADE FOR HOSPITAL BENEFIT Final plans are being made for the annual style show and card party sponsored by the Alpha Sigma chapter of Tri Kappa. This benefit, well received last year, will'be held at the Community Center, February 11. Guests will be welcomed to play cards at 7:30 p. m. and for anyone not wishing to play cards, the style show will begin at 8:15 pm. The newest in spring fashion will be presented by the E. F. Gass store. The proceeds of the benefit will again be used for the local hospital. An effort is being made to contact all woman’s organizations. Any individual or group desiring tickets may purchase them from any Tri Kappa member or call Mrs. Robert Boch. Chairman of the decorating committe is Mrs. ‘Gloria Nelson, with the Mesdames Karen Hilty, Pat Hain, William Snyder, Janice Kreischer, Jim Engle, Gayle Ainsworth, Carl Faurote, John Brecht, Paul Hammond, Ralph Bollinger, assisting her. Mrs. John Boch, Mrs. Kenneth Lichtle and Janet Habegger are contacting the .various organizations with Mrs. Kenneth Gaunt, Mrs. Clark Mayclin, and Mrs. Jim Cravens in charge of card tables. The tickets are price at $1 for adults and 50 cents for students. Mrs. Herman Braun Will be hostess to the St. Ambrose Study club, Monday at 7:30 p.m. ROSARY SOCIETY MEETS MONDAY St. Mary's Rosary Society held its regular meeting January 20 at the K. of C. Hall. The Rt. Rev. Simeon Schmitt led the rosary to open the meeting. The outgoing president, Mrs. Dorothy Miller, thanked all who assisted her during the past year and turned the meeting over to the new president, Mrs. Eileen Buckley and the officers for 1064. Msgr. Schmitt thanked the outgoing officers and welcomed the incoming ones. He suggested that a few minutes be spent at each meeting this year reviewing the history and indulgences of t the Rosary society. The meeting closed with prayer and refreshments were served by Virginia Keller, Mildred Leitz, Anna McNamara, Mary Teeple, Celests Peterson and their committee.

MENDEZ BAND PRESENTED AWARD The grand commander, Jerry Blair, paid a surprise visit to the local cooties scratch, January 18 at the V. F. W. post home. Also traveling with him was second district commander, Curly Longsworth. The reason of his visit was to present an award of citation to Bob Mendez and his Latin American combo band, for their outstanding work, traveling with the local cooties to Veterans hospitals and for parties at the county farm.* It is the first such citation received by a local musician. The local members are proud of the fact that the band will accompany them anywhere on request. Band members are Bob, B1 az, and Manuel Mendez, Ronnie Secaur and Charlie Kester. Parties have been set for March and July at the Marion Veterans hospital serving over 400 patients. The Decatur pup tent sendsthanks to the Albion Manufacturing company for material given them to use for patient therapy. THE REV. E. FEKETE GUEST SPEAKER A joint meeting of the St. Gerard and Santa Maria Study clubs was held recently in the social room at the I&M building. They had as guest speaker, the Rev. Eugene Fgkete, who spoke of the life of a seminariam at the Catholic Uni-' versity in Washington, D. C. He also told of his first year's experience following graduation and related the changes the Catholic church has to make in order to better understand the people. A question and answer period followed; Following the meeting, a luncheon was served by the hostess, Mrs. Edward Hammond, assisted by Mrs. Andrew Miller. The Sunny Circle Home Demonstration club will meet Tuesday at the Preble Recreation Center at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Leo Teeple, 1028 Mercer, will be hostess to the Delta Theta Tau sorority, Tuesday at 8 p.m. The Eagles Auxiliary will meet in the Eagles Hall at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Kenneth McConnell will be hostess to the active chapter of Tri Kappa soroity, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Egly are members of the St. Luke church. They were married January 24, 1914 by the late Rev. Dr. Louis Hessert, who was then pastor of the Zion United Church of Christ, Decatur. The couple are the parents of three daughters, Mrs. William (Delores) Joray, route 1, Geneva: Mrs. Earl (Ireta) Harmon, route 6, Decatur; Mrs. Arthur (Milita) Moeschberger, Monroe; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Budget Investment Manager Resigns Bill Snyder, manager of the De- , catur branch of Budget Investment, has announced his resignation, effective January 31. Snyder has accepted a position with Universal C. I. T. in the Fort Wayne office. Norman Pollock, assistant manager of the local Budget office, has been named to take over Snyder’s manager duties January 31. Snyder, a 1964 graduate of Ball State Teachers College, has been active in the Decatur Junior Chamber of Commerce, and is presently external vice president. He has also been active in the local Rotary club since moving here in 1957. Snyder and his family will move to Fort Wayne in the near future.

Locals Miss Elizabeth Peterson spent Tuesday in Indianapolis visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Peterson. Larry Macklin and George Bair thove to Indianapolis this morning on business. Severin H. Schurger, Adams county prosecutor, spent Tuesday in Indianapolis, where he attended a session of the supreme court. GIRL SCOUTS Troop 65 The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Riemer. Then we had roll call and troops dues. The White Arrow patrol gave an example of carol reading. Then we practiced the play we are going to give for the Emmaus Guild. We closed by singing “Go o d Night Girl Scouts.” Scribe, Kathy Bultemeier. Troop 178 Girl Scout troop 178 met Monday at the Community Center. We started our meeting with the Firefly patrol giving dramatic skits. Then Vicki Bohnke was introduced as a new member. After that we went nt • patrols and talked about future plans. We discussed having a skating party with troop 88. We also did badge work. Correction to -last week’s officers in Brenda Roughia as assistant patrol leader of Seven Keys patrol. Scribe, Teresa Borne. .Miss Marie Felber Is Injured Tuesday Miss Marie Felber, head nurse at the Adams county memorial hospital, suffered shock, cuts and bruises and was hospitalized Tuesday in a freak onecar automobile accident as she left for work. Miss Felber started her car, then noticed that the window was iced over. She got out to scrape it off, apparently leaving the car in reverse. The car moved in reverse, knocked her off her feet, and carried her about 15 feet, until it hit a tree. She was taken immediately to the hospital where x-rays showed no serious injuries, but was hospitalized all day. She resides at 641*4 N. Second street.
