MARY CIRCLE MEETS AT WYNN HOME The Mary Circle of the Decatur E. U. B. church met at the home of Mrs. R. O. Wynn, Tuesday evening. Miss Barbara Bowman led the program on the subject “To Seek a Neighbor — Through the Grace of God" based on the theme of Christian missions in Southeast Asia. Mrs. R. O. Wynn, Mrs. Arthur Beeler, and Mrs. James Borchers led the group in discussion of the countries of Nepal, Ceylon. Pakistan, and India. Miss Bowman then displayed various interesting articles from India. r—Mrs. James Borchers, 1 chairman, conducted the business meeting. It was announced that the special project would be over-all aprons for the Haven Hubbard home. Miss Bowman closed the meeting with prayer. The hostess then served refreshments to the nine members and one guest present. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. James Bowman, with Mrs. Ward Bowman as leader. The study of Southeast Asia will continue. FRIENDSHIP VILLAGE CLUB MEETS THURSDAY The Blue Creek Friendship Villege Home Demonstration club held its regular meeting Thursday afternoon at the St. Mary-Blue Creek conservation building. Mrs. Lester Sipe, vice president, opened the meeting by leading the group in repeating the club creed. The song leader, Mrs. Norris Riley, led in singing the song of the month “Home On the Range,” followed by devotions given by Mrs. Robert Heckman. Mns. Paulmer Schwartz gave a very interesting lesson on buying beef. The health and safety lesson was presented by Mrs. Paul Burkhart. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Sipe. The club collect Ctosed the meeting. The hostesses, the Mesdames Alma Miller, Lulu Raudenbush, Ray McMichael and Merle Foor served refreshments to the -26 members and five children present. Mrs. Norris Riley was awarded the hostess gift. The Golden Age- group of the Methodist churchwill meet at the church Thursday at 2p.m. SOCIETY There will be-a joint meeting of the Eagles officers and the Aerie, Saturday at 8:30 p.m. not the American Legion as stated in Friday's Daily Democrat. The American Legion Auxiliary will meet Friday at 8 p.m. at the Legion Home for a social meeting . ■ The Decatur Garden club will meet Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Albert Miller. The Order of Eastern Star? Decatur chapter 127, will honor master Masons and will hold initiation for two candidates at their meeting, Thrusday beginning at 7:30 p.m.

RAINBOW GIRLS HOLD PUBLIC INSTALLATION The Order of Rainbow for Girls held a public installation for Janet Winteregg, Saturday evening. The following girls were installed as officers for the ensuing term: Janet Winteregg, worthy advisor; Barbara Conrad, worthy assistant; Jane Tumblin, charity; Jane Macklin, hope; Carol Smith, faith; Cheryl Knudsen, recorder; Susan Magley, treasurer; Tanya August, chaplain; Jane Anspaugh, drill leader; Nancee Linn, love; Caroline Rash, religion; Julie Zerkel, nature; Linda Krick, immortality; Janelle Heller, fidelity; Cheryl Colter, patrolism; Arlene Beavers, service; Michelle Jones, confidential observer; Charlotte Houk, outer observer; Susan Langston, musician; Jean Swickard, choir director; Becky Rumple, rose lecture; Sandy Singleton, historian; Wynn Begun, prompter, and Becky Lord, news reporter. The newly elected worthy advisor, Janet Winteregg, was escorted, (o the east by her father, followed by her flower girl, Betsy Hill. She was escorted through an arch of red hearts while the girls sang a song written for the occasion to the tune of “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.” After Janet was given the gavel of the assembly she thanked everyone for the lovely installation. She chose as her motto “Love One Another,” scripture, John 3:16, watch words "love and purity," symbol, white dove, flower, red rose, colors, red and white, and song “Love Is A Many Splendor Thing," which Cindy Haggerty sang to her at the altar. Janet then introduced her parents and guests. — Her installing officers were Lowell Smith, installing officer; Rev. J. O. Penrod, installing chaplain; Mrs. Mildred Ellsworth, acting mother advisor; Mrs. Onalee Elzey, installing marshal; Miss Kay Wynn, installing musician; Miss Cindy Haggerty, installing soloist; Miss Betsy Hill, escort. Janet then had her parents escorted east and read them a poem which she composed herself; “At times like this I always feel, Especially close, my mother dear; and dad, delight and pride are mine; Your presence makes you seem quite near; Though difficult it always is, to say just what I’d have you know; There’s love and thanks in my heart for you, as day by day through life we go.” Janet closed witn a poem and invited everyone to a reception in the dining room. The Rev. Penrod gave the benediction and the Rainbow Girls closed with a closing march. A reception was held in the dining room, where cake and punch were served. Joslyn Plant Strike Is Settled Friday FORT WAYNE, Ind. (UPD — Agreement on a n e w contract ended a strike by about 650 workers at the Joslyn Stainless Steel, Co. late Friday. Workers walked off their jobs Tuesday night after last-ditch efforts to settle grievances failed. Details of the agreement reached in negotiations in Cricago were not disclosed. Legion Home, 8 p.m. Adams County Youth Uninjured In Wreck Ronald Lee Steury, 16-year-old route 1, Berne resident, escaped injury in a one-car accident at 5:30 p.m. Friday . The mishap occurred on county road 16, a mile east of Vera Cruz, when Steury’s eastbound auto went out of control on the snow and ice-covered road. The vehicle left the north side of the road and crashed into a pole, but Steury was not injured. Deputy sheriff Harold August, who investigated, estimated damage to Steury’s auto at $l5O. Larry R. Webb Is Assigned To Europe LOWRY AFB, Colo. — Airman Third Class Larry R. Webb of Geneva, Ind., is being reassigned to a unit of the United States Air Forces in Europe following his graduation from the technical training course for United States Air Force munitions specialists . here. 1 Airman Webb was trained in the maintenance, storage, loading, assembly and safe disposal of explosive munitions. lAJec/ 11 The engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Ann Sullivan to Vernon Ratcliff has been revealed by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sullivan. 2510 Evans, Fort Wayne. A graduate of Elmhurst high school, Miss Sullivan is now employed by Jim Kelley Buick, Inc. Her fiance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ora Ratcliff, Decatur, is a graduate of Adams Central high school and is employed by International Harvester. The wedding will take place April 11 in the Mt. Calvary Lutheran church.

Record Dance Held By Explorer Scouts — Approximately ,250 young people attended a record dance at the Decatur Youth and Community Center Friday night, it was reported today. The dance was sponsored by the Decatur Elks lodge-sponsored Explorer Scout post, and was chaperoned by three adults, as well as center empoyes. Two Cars Damaged By Rolling Wheel Two cars in the Schwartz Ford Co. lot, on U. S. 224 west, were damaged by a rolling semi-trail-er truck wheel at 5:17 p.m. Friw day. Both autos received an estimated SIOO damage when struck by the big truck tire. The truck waS>. eastbound on 224, or Nuttmad Ave., when the right rear dual came off and roiled into the Schwartz lot, striking the two cars. ■on; GIRL SCOUTS Brownie Troop On January 17, the second grade Brownie troop met at the Lincoln school. The meeting was opened with 16 members receiving their Brownie pins. An election, of officers for the month was held, with Bobbie Jo Bollinger chosen president, Mary Jane Boltz, secretary-! reasurer and Debra Shook, scribe. Refreshments were served before closing, to the members and leaders by Patty Dishong. Troop 170 Wednesday after school troop 170 held their meeting in Miss Bieberich's room. We discussed new business and old business. Then we played the initial game. We closed with the song, "Good Night Brownies.” Scribe, Kathy Slinger Troop 547 Brownie troop 547 met at 3 p.m. at Lincoln school. The St. Mary’s Catholic church was the scene of a double ring wedding ceremony this morning. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simeon Schmitt officiated for the marriage of M i sis Geraldine Louise Schultz and Donald Joseph Heck. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schultz. 1725 West Monroe street, Decatur, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heck, 1221 Home Ave.. Fort Wayne. A white carpet graced the way to an altar bedecked with red pompoms and camelia ■ foliage. Hie men’s choir of the St. Mary’s church and Mrs. Rita Girard, organist, provided the wedding music. The bride, given in marriage by her father, appeared in a floor length gown of bridal satin. The skirt was floor length and the over blouse was of imported Italian lace, while the detachable chapel length train was of matching bridal satin. Her fingertip veil was held by a small pill box of bridal satin and Italian lace. The bride carried a cascade arrangement of red vuletide roses centered with a white orchid. The matron of honor, Mrs. Paul Hess, Decatur, selected a red velvet floor length gown featuring a bell skirt. The neckline was slightly scooped and the sleeves were three quarter length. For back interest a self fabric rose held red satin streamers. The headpiece consisted of a short veil held to a rose of red satin. Mrs He s s carried an arrangement of red verigated carnations, camelia foliage, and streamers. The bridestnaids, Mrs. David Schultz, Miss Jane Schultz, and Miss Frieda Heck, and the flower girls, the Misses Christine and Sherri Heck, were dressed identical to the honor attendant. Victor Heck stood as his brobest with.. Carl Heck, David Schultz, and James Schultz serving as groomsmen. William Schultz carried the rings. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Schultz was wearing a dress of tope brown linen with mohair jacket an d brown accessories.

Mrs. Heck, mother of the groom, chose a mink brocade taffeta dress with beige accessories. Both mothers wore white orchid corsages. A wedding dinner was held at the home of the bride for 40 guests. A reception at the southwest conservation club, Fort Wayne, will be held this afternoon with approximately 500 guests expected to attend. Serving at the reception will be the Misses Connie and Cheryl Heck, and Mrs. Ted Heck. Mrs. Carl Heck will register the gifts. For their wedding trip to Canada, the new Mrs. Heck will be wearing a powder blue knit suit with navy blue accessories and the orchid from her bridal bouquet. The bride is a graduate of Decatur Catholic high school, and St. Joseph school of nursing and is a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s hospital. The groom is a graduate of North Side high school and is a dispatcher at the Fort Wayne signal department. -The couple will make their home at 7009 Raintre Road, Fort Wayne.
