“It’s good to have money and the things that money tan buy; but it’s good to check up once in a while and make sure you haven’t lost the things that money can’t buy.” —George Horace Lorimer. CLERICUS SAYS CLERCIS SAYS: Because of their own shortcomings, many persons hate others who are superior to them. For the same reason, they do not like people who have great dreams and aspirations. Jospeh’S persistent faith in his dreams helped him to change difficulties into blessings. Joseph could have been exceedingly bitter over the treatment by his brothers but as time proved, he had a forgiving- spirit and help no grudge against them. He drew in tstature amid difficulties. I " H I Wisdom S’ ! J o ca rot* 8 A farmer’s daughter started to practice singing. One day her father came home from - the fields unexpectedly early. -“What’s that queer noise?” he inquired. “That, dear,” explained his wife proudly, “is our daughter Jean cultivating her voice.” “Cultivating?” mused the farmer. “That's not cultivating, that’s harrowing.” There is only one way to achieve happiness on this terrestrial ball, and that is to have either a clear conscience, or none at all — Ogden Nash. CHURCH FORUM WHAT SHOULD WE TAKE TIME FOR? As we enter a New Year, we should consider how we spent our time the past year and then discover what should have priority rating on our time in the coming year. The following are suggested: Take time to worship — it is the highway of reverence which cleanses and restores the soul. . Take time to work — it is the price of success. Take time to think — it is the source of power. Take time to read — it is the foundation of knowledge. Take time to help and enjoy friends — it is the source of happiness. Take time to play — jt is the secret of youth. Take time to love — it is the one sacrament. Take time to dream — it hitches the soul to the stars. . Take time to laugh — it is the singing that helps with life’s loads. Take time to plan — it is the secret of being able to have time," to take time, for the first nine" - A HAPPY HOMF One of the problems confronting parents is how to make their children understand the value of time, ffhe following might be helpful in getting the idea across to them: Playing games fine and no waste of time IF it pto*vides relaxation and good clean fun. Reading is fine and no i waste of time IF you choose i wisely what you read. Talking i? good, and no waste of time IF you think before you speak and do not indulge in bickering or harsh words. Auto riding for .pleasure is fine IF it allows youto get clear, fresh air. Dream* ing is no waste of time IF you do something about making your dreams «>come true. Envying someone, having revenge on i someone is a waste of time and deadening to your mental, physical and spiritual welfare. Time wasted is existence. Time used is life. Power exercised with violence has seldom been of long duration, but temper and modemation generally produce permanence in all , things. — Seneca.
