I also worker part-time for another company and they withheld social security tax on $2,000 I earned with them. Since I paid the maximum tax in my regular job, was my part-time employer correct in also taking social security tax out of my pay? A.— Yes, each employer must withhold the social security tax on the first $4,800 paid you in the taxable year. However, you can claim the excess social security tax you paid as a against your income tax.
