Christmas song, “Away in a Manger.” Mrs. Mary Melching and Mrs. McCullough conducted the lesson, “Beyond Bethlehem.” The McCullough home was beautiful in appropriate Christmas decorations including a beautiful tree. Gifts were exchangeed and' the secret pals of the organization were then revealed. Mrs. Ted Dague received the door prize. Mrs. Noll, the president, conducted the business meeting. The secret pals list was passed out for the coming year, isj* B The meeting was closed by reading Genesis. MT. PLEASANT WOMEN HOLD RECENT MEETING The Mt. Pleasant 1 Women’s society met recently at the home of Mrs. William Hosea. The president, Mrs. Bill Fifer, opened the meeting by reading a poem entitled “Star.” Mrs. Robert Fuhrman gave the devotions which was the Christmas story from Mathew. Mrs. Earl G. Fuhrman gave the lesson, “Observance of Christmas in Other Countries.” There will be a study course held in January with the meeting held aWhe home of Mrs. Dorothy Fuhrman. Rev. Orr will teach the course. Members of the group voted to send $5 to the W. O. W. O. “Penny Pitch.'’ Old and new business was discussed and Mrs. Florence Susdorf gave the closing throught and prayer. lunch to the fifteen members and three children and one guest. Mrs. Rex King and Miss Scotty Cummings assisted Mrs. Hosea in serving the guests. The hostess for the January meeting will be Mrs. Iva Fuhrman. JUDY BERCOT GUEST AT BRIDAL SHOWER Mias Judy Bercot, December 20 bride-elect of Ned Mitchel, was the guest of honor at a bridal shower given Tuesday evening at the Floyd Mitchel home. Hostesses for the event were the Mesdames Gene, Robert and Jerry Mitchel. Upon arrival the honored guest was presented with a Christmas corsage. Games were played with prizes being won by Mesdames Clarence Dick, Clarence and Floyd Mitchel, who in turn Dresented them to Miss Bercot. The bridd then opened her gifts which were arranged on a table centered with a white unbrella and red streamers, the bride’s bridal colors. Refreshments were served buffet style and were very colorful and appetizing red and green bell shaped sandwiches, pickles, potato chips, coffee, punch and assorted nuts in attractive nut cups. The serving table was centered with Midge and Barbie dolls dressed as bride and bridesmaid in the bride’s colors of red and white. White candles trimmed, with red added to the table decorations. Those present were Miss Bercot, the Mesdames Louis Bercot, Clarence Dick, Ralph Bluhm, Arthur, Kenneth, Floyd and Clarence Mitchel, Philip Barger, Richard Peterson. Floyd Morrison and Herbert and Ralph Hawkins,'the Misses Linda Peterson, Grace and Harriet Bercot. and Angela, Carla and Debbiet Mitchel. - v - ", ; *• ■ -- '-w= MONMOUTH PTA HOLDS CHRISTMAS PROGRAM The Monmouth PTA held the annual Christmas program Tuesday evening in the school gym. Rev. Donald Orr of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist church gave the invocation. .The program was presented by grades one through six with Miss Roxann Gump, teacher for grade one, and Earl Dawald, the sixth grade teacher in charge, and was “Christmas in Song.” Grade one. “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Frosty the Snowman.” Grade two, “Rudolph” and “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas.” Grade three, “Suzy Snowflake” and “Jingle Bells.” Grade four, “Winter Wonderland” and “Nuttin for Christmas.” Grades five and six, “Silver Bells” and “Sleigh Ri^e.” Grade six also presented +wo skits entitled “The Unhappy Christmas Tree,” by Mabel Crouch, and “A Patriotic Christmas,” by Lenore D. Doctor. Following the program Santa Claus made his appearance and gave all the Children treats. The hospitality committee served 'Christmas cookies and punch which was enjoyed by all.

W. 8 p.m. THURSDAY MERRY MATRONS CLUB HAS CHRISTMAS PARTY _ The Merry Matrons home demonstration club held its Christmas party at the Fairway Restaurant, Tuesday evening. All the members were seated at the decorated table and place identification was marked with lovely napkin holders. After the dinner a short business meeting was held by the president, Mrs. Carl Thieme. The devotions were given by Mrs. Eds ward Marbach on the festival Seasons. Mrs. Louis Krueckeberg installed the new officers for the 1964 year. The history of the song of the month, “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear,” was read by Mrs. Louis Krueckeberg, who also led the group in the singing. Following the business meeting several games were played and the winners were Mrs. Eugene Schlemmer, Mrs. Marie Krueckeberg. Mrs. Art Krueckeberg, Mrs. Walter Thieme. The door prize was won by Mrs. Wilbert Thieme. The revealing of the secret pai was then held, the 'pal gifts were enjoyed, and the drawing for the 1964 secret pal names followed. The committee for. the entertainment was comprised of Mrs. Edward Marbach and Mrs. Richard Marbach. The next meeting will be held January 21 at the home of Mrs. Marbach at 7:30 p.m. - ... • The Order for Rainbow for Girls will meet this evening at 6:45 o'clock at the Masonic Hall. The Golden Age Group meeting o fthe Methodist church which was scheduled for Thursday evening has been cancelled.

SARAH CIRCLE HOLDS DECEMBER MEETING The Sarah Circle of the Decatur Evangelical United Brethren , church held its December meeting at the home of Mrs. John Kelley. The leader, Mrs. 4 William Strahm, presented the lessbn, “Glory to God,” and for the call 1 to worship read a poem “I prayed for Peace,” and the Christmas carol was “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear.” Several portions were read from the Bible, emphasizing the Christmas story: “What is Peace,” Mrs. Strahm: “One Heart-Thine,” Mrs. Frank Bohnke; “On Earth Peace," M!rs. Charles Kent; "Our Responsibility,” Mrs. Gerald Cole. Christmas carols were “sung along with the lesson, and Mrs. Strahm closed with prayer. The circle chairman, Mrs. Kelley, conducted the business meeting. Reports from the various committee chairmen were given and the following are the newly elected officers: chairman, Mrs. John Kejfey; vice chairman, Mrs. David Wynn; secretary, Mrs. Frank Bohnke; treasurer, Mrs. Gerald Cole; secretary of spiritual life, Mrs. Sephus Jackson; and secretary of Christian social relations; Mrs. William Strahm. Mrs. Bohnke and Mrs. Homer Arnold gave a very interesting report on their visit and tour through the Haven-Hubbard home, near New Carlisle. Girl Scouts ’> Troop 170 Troop 170 held their Christmas party at the I & M building. After reciting our Brownie Promise we sat in teams at tables and played telephone.
