BETHANY KUM-JOIN-US HOLDS CHRISTMAS PARTY The Kum-Join-Us class of the Bethany church met Tuesday evening for their annual Christmas dinner, with 30 in attendance. After ‘the dinner Mrs. Winston Rawley led the class in devotions. She read the story of the nativity. She stated that God’s unspeakable gift was the symbol of love. Mrs. Rawley read several poems and gave a reading on keeping Christmas. She led the members in prayer. Mrs. Francis Ellsworth had charge of the business meeting. She commended the flower committee for the wonderful job they had done. She remembered the three who had taught the class during the year with a gift from
the class in appreciation. - The election of officers was held g and the results were: Pete Smith, v president; Wendell Seaman, vice president; Faye Miller, treasurer; and Dorothy Alger, assistant. '• A collection was received and this is to be given to charity. Several games were played a;id a gift exchange was held. MRS. HARPER HOSTESS FOR RESEARCH CLUB A program reminiscent of Christmas was enjoyed by members of the Research club when they met for their annual Christmas tea recently at the home of Mrs. W. Lowell Harper. Mrs. William Linn, who was in charge, opened the meeting with the club collect, after which she read many heart-warming passages from Bess Streeter Aldrich’s book. Replacing current events, members were asked to recall some impressive incident or phase of Christmas to close the program. A new member, Mrs. August Kelly, was welcomed into the club. ( For the social hour, Mrs. Har- ' per invited the ladies to the * spacious family room where they partook of Christmas refreshments from the tea table attractive with holiday appointments. Mrs. Lowell Smith poured. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Reid Erekson, Mrs. E. H. Cook, Mrs. Robert Babcock, Mrs. Clarence Ziner, Mrs. J. M. Doan, and Mrs. A. R. Holthouse. “THE LITTLEST ANGEL’’ AT STORY HOUR SATURDAY “The Littlest Angel” will be shown to the children at the last story hour this year at the Decatur public library, Saturday, at 1:30 p. m. The special Christmas program will include a story about Santa Claus’ cold and one telling how we came to have cookie cutters. “The Long Stocking” by Ilsley will also be told to the children. Parents should watch for an announcement as to when the next story hour will be_ held. r F Mrs. Edward Marbach and= Mrs. Richard Marbach will bee hostesses for the annual Christ- J mas party of the Merry Matrons J home demonstration club at 7 p.J m. Tuesday at the Fairway.! There will be a secret pals giftj exchange. SPECIAL MEETING HELD .BY M. O. C. AUXILIARY ; J A special meeting of the M. O.» }C. auxiliary was held recently 3 at the V. F. W. home to plan for 3 the Christmas party Saturday Dec. 21, in the Upstairs room at the V. F. W. home, for Cooties « and Cootie auxiliary. ' Meat and potatoes will be furniished; members are to bring a Z covered dish and table service. 1 Santa will be on hand for the «member’s children. The members ’also voted at the special meeting to give $lO to the post for the underprivileged children’s Christ- 1 mas party, and to mail a check for $5 to the Good Fellows club. , The Women of the Moose met at the Moose Home Thursday evening for their regular meeting. Senior regent, Mrs. Charles Haney, was in charge of enrollment, after which a social hour wars enjoyed with Mrs. Bob Drake, social service chairman in charge of refreshments. The next meeting will be held Dec. 26, 8 p.m.

NORTHWEST PTA HEARS CHRISTMAS PROGRAM The December meeting of the Northwest P .T. A. was held Thursday* evening in the school auditorium. The invocation was given by Rev. Sylvester Martin James Borchers, president, presided during the business meeting. A report of the successful school carnival was made. Parents were reminded of the current Good Fellows project and the rag drive to be in March. The second grade pupils entertained the group with a delightful playlet, “It Happens at Christmas Time.” Miss Haubold accompanied the sixth grade pupils singing various Christmas carols. The fourth grade pupils concluded the program with the clever presentation “The Christmas with the group forming two huge Christmas trees.

CITIZENS OPERATORS HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY The Citizens Telephone operators held a Christmas party at the Dutch Mill Monday Evening. There they were served a lovely full-course dinner. Following the dinner, games were played aad gifts were exchanged at the Indiana and Michigan electric room iii Decatur. The beautiful floral arrangement, which was the center of attraction, was won by Mary Stults. Also the booby prize was won by Ruth Gresley and a door prize was won by Nancy Helm. The Committee who helped to make the party such a success was Bea Black, Joan Bredermann and Carolyn Taylor. SCENIC NOTE CARDS BY WOMAN’S CLUB Mrs. Jethro B. Sprunger, president of the Decatur Woman’s club, announced today that the local club as a member of the State Federation of Clubs is sponsoring the sale of color note cards as a statewide awareness project. This project will promote and publicize the great state of Indiana. It is one of the roles of the Woman’s club to promote the community and state. These cards being sold in all Indiana communities will make Indiana people even more aware of the wonderful state. But, even greater than this local awareness is the fact that* a great promotional benefit will be derived from the thousands of these cards being Sent all over the United States. These unique cards will be a “National Advertising Campaign" for Indiana. The money earned by the members will be used by the Decatur Woman’s club for charitable purposes in local community projects and also for sjate and 'national projects which the Indiana Federation of Clubs and the General Federation of Woman’s clubs support The note cards with four scenes of Indiariji in bright color may be purchased for $1 per box, 12 notes to the box. The department chairmen have the note cards available and all Woman’s club members are urged to contact their chairmen to purchase any note cards they may wish to purchase for Christmas. Her fiance graduated from Findlay high school, and Fort Wayne Commercial College with a degree in IBM, data processing.
