MONMOUTH MUSIC DEPT. WILL PRESENT CONCERT ‘‘Nutcracker Suite” by P. I. Tscharskowsky, “Twas the Night Before Christmas" by Long, and ‘‘o Holy Night” by Adams are just a few of the musical selections on the program of the Christmas concert to be presented by the Monmouth music department under the direction of Bradley Duckworth, Tuesday evening, at the school. There is no admission charge for the 7:30 p.m. concert, featuring both vocal and instrumental music as a free will offering will be taken. The Knights of Columbus Auxiliary will meet for a pot-luck dinner and Christmas party at the K. of C. Hall, Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The chicken, rolls and coffee will be furnished by the committee comprised of the officers. Cards will be played and a 25cent gift exchange will be held. All members and their husbands or guests are invited. The Queen of the Holy Rosary Study club will meet at the West End Restaurant, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

WESLEY CLASS HOLDS ANNUAL DINNER The Wesley class of the First Methodist church held their annual Christmas dinner in the church parsonage at noon Sunday. A turkey dinner was prepared and served by the committee to the 35 members and eight guests attending. Chrsitmas decorations adorned the dining room. Following the dinner the meeting was opened by the members singing Christinas carols, with Mrs. Harry Daily at the piano. Mrs. Charles Drake gave a reading entitled “The Old Tramp’s Story.” The group then elected Mrs. Lloyd Ahr as president for the coming year Mrs. RSympnd Walters, vice president; Mrs. Harold Gay, secretary-trea-surer; assistant, Walter Lister. At the close of the business meeting a gift exchange was held. Those serving on the committee were Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Underwood, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ahr, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Krick, Mr. and Mrs. William Lister, Mrs. Katheryn Nelson, Mrs. Charles Drake, Mrs. Raymond Walters, Mrs. Harold Gay and Mrs. Cecil Krick. The Everready Sunday school class and Golden Age Group will meet at the home of Mrs. W. P. Robinson Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. to make Christmas plates for the shut-ins. UNION LADIES AID HOLDS ALL-DAY MEETING The Ladies Aid of the Union Chapel church met recently in the church basement for an all day meeting with eight members and two visitors spending the day quilting. Officers elected for the coming year were Mrs. Harvey Koos, president; Mrs. John Walters, vice president; Mrs. Martin Sprunger, treasurer; and Mrs. Ami Miller, secretary. The Christmas story and a prayer were given by Mrs. William Welker and a reading was given by Mrs. Ralph „ Delauter. The Our Lady of Lourdes Study club will meet at the Fairway restaurant, Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Following the dinner the group will assemble at the home of Mrs. John Lengerich for their regular meeting.
WELCOME WAGON ' MEETS AT CORAH HOME A colorful Christmas decoration display and demonstration by Mrs. Bonita Bowen highlighted the December meeting of the Welcome- Wagon club as it met at the home of Mrs. Fred Corah. During the business meeting, the red rose was adopted as the club flower. Games were played and refreshments were served to the 17 membes attending by Mrs. Corah and Mrs. Shirley Frey. All newcomers are urged to attend the January 9 meeting. All members of the Cootie Auxiliary are asked to attend the special meeting to be held at the V. F. W. tonight at 8 o’clock. The Pleasant Mills W. M. SJ will meet Thursday at the home of Mrs. Ben McCullough at 7 p.m. Locals Lois Lichtensteiger, of Wren, 0., has been admitted to the Van Wert county hospital. Mrs. Elizabeth Chambers, of Decatur, reports that her son-in-law and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. Richard C. Glass, are the parents of a baby girl born Thursday in Van Wert county hospital. The baby has been named Carol Jeanne. Mrs. Rachel Hanni, who served as telephone operator for eight years at Tocsin prior to conversion to dial, have moved to Decatur, where she is employed as an operator with Citizens Telephone Co. Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Severenee and Frank Marshall have returned to their home in Jacksonville, Fla., after attending the funeral of Jay W. Chapman. Mrs. Anna Monesmlth of Dixon, 111., is in Decatur visiting her sister, Mrs. Jay W. Chapman. She attended the funeral of the late Mr. Chapman. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse W. Haffner, of Markle, will leave Thursday for a four months stay in Bradenton, Fla. Their address will be 1705 13th st. West, Bradenton, Fla. Mrs. Haffner is the former Ruth Hollingsworth of this city. County Officials To Attend Conference Most of the elected Adams county officials will attend one or more of the sessions of the fifth -annual conference of the association of Indiana counties at the Severin hotel in Indianapolis Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday morning county surveyor Herman Moellering, county treasurer William Linn, county assessor Omer Merriman, and county auditor Edward F. Jaberg will leave to attend the individual association sessions on that day. County recorder Rosemary Spangler will also attend. Tuesday evening, the exhibitions for county officials will be open at the Severin hotel. The*' first general session will be held Wednesday afternoon, and the final session will be Thursday afternoon. Wednesday Group Early Wednesday morning county highway superintendent Lawrence Noll, county commissioners Stanley Arnold, Hugo Boerger, and Del mas Bollenbacher will leave for the meetings. Commissioner Max Kreps will not be able to attend. County clerk Richard Lewton, who leave office January 1, is recovering from surgery in the hospital, and will not attend, but county clerk-elect George Bair will attend. He is presently in Indianapolis. County Attorney David A. Macklin, county attorney, will drive down Wednesday, and stay as long as his schedule permits. The sheriffs meet at a different time. County home manager Charles Morgan hopes to be able to get away Thursday for the session on county homes. It is understood the statewide meeting of township trustees will also be Thursday. At this fifth annual conference, the annual luncheons will be Wednesday night. Thursday morning the group will tour Eli Lilly & Co., /bd then meet for a final session with Lt. Gov. Richard O. Ristine and state officials, and the final program. Births David and Alicia Ann Levy Butcher are the parents of a 6 lb., 15 oz., baby boy bom at the Anderson Community hospital Saturday at 12:40 a. m. Today at 12:45 p.m., a 7 lb., 5 oz. baby girl was born to Dale and Carol Hamilton Troutner, 1613 Madison St., Decatur. Alvin and Dianna Sprunger Herman, route 1, Geneva, became the parents of a baby girl at 12:02 p.m. today. The infant weighed 7 lbs., 1 oz. No decision was released by press time. Also meeting was a workman’s compensation hearing by the state industrial board for Joseph Solvana, of Berne. Both were scheduled for v the auditor’s office. County auditor Ed Jaberg reported that another meeting had been ‘‘scheduled,” but that it turned out to be a mixup. Saturday a hearing man from Bremen, 100 miles north of here drove in, and asked if a scheduled hearing could get underway on a tax appeal that was scheduled for Monday. Jaberg stated he new of no such case. A check of the records showed that the hearing was to be at Greensburg, in Decatur county, not Decatur in Adams county, and the man was chagrined to find he had wasted his Saturday in a drive to Decatur.

X ‘ A report was received that the county has a new patient in the Irene Bryon tuberculosis sanitarium. The commissioners ruled that a bill from Ashbauchers for $89.75 for work done to the old chimney at the county farm should be filed as a separate claim. Work on the dredging of the 27Mile creek and six branches has started, thanks to joint action by the Van „Wert. 0., and Adams county commissioners. In Adams county the creek enters the St. Mary’s river on property belonging to Dr. and Mrs. John C. Carroll. The work, which will in its total cost $30,712.92, must be completed -by Nov. 1, 1964; in Adalis county the work will be on the north side of the creek.
