won their second game of the season Saturday night as they whipped the Harlan Hawks by a score of 76-58. Congratulations, boys, and keep up the good work. , The second team, lost their first game of the season as the Hawks beat them by a score of 46-39. Monmouth high would like to thank the ReV. Smith, of Decatur, for giving a memorial prayer for our John F. Kennedy, Saturday evening. The late president was a great leader to all men, and his death is felt by all. It is true, America has lost a great leader, but his spirit lives bn eternally. - M. H. S. — The music department, under the direction of Bradley Duckworth, has been working very hard on their Christmas concert, which they will present December 10 at 7:30 p.m. The following are some J of the songs one will hear the! : band play: “Nutcracker Suite,” by.

The following are some of the songs that the choir will sing: “Jingle Bells,” arranged by’Stone; “Angels We Have Heard on High,” by Vance; “Christina? Time Is Near,” by Kock and arranged by Stickles; “O Holy Night", by Adams and arranged by Swift; and “Holiday Tune,” by Whitney. “Silent Night” will be sung by the choir with Leon Habegger singing a solo part in it. “Deck the Halls,’ will be sung by the boys’ quartet which is composed of the following: Ron Habegger, Leon, Habegger, Dave Fleming, and Bill Hildebrand Good luck to both the band and choir. See you next week. — M. H. S. — ADAMS CENTRAL By Judy Hirschy M I’m sure that the events of the’ past week have stirred the heart of each one of us. We shall never forget, but rather hold in high esteem, the great leader who has been go unreasonably taken from us. No matter what faith, creed, or color, Americans, as well as people all over the world, mourn for John F. Kennedy. Our prayers, as should be, go out to his family and to the new President, Lyndon B. Johnson. — A. C. H. S. — The Dramatics club is now casting two Christmas plays which will be shown to the student body before Christmas vacation begins. The plays are the following: “All Is Calm,” with a cast of eight and “A Hillbilly Christmas Carol,” with a cast of seven. The sponsors, Mr. Allspaw and Mr. Sprunger, assisted by two student directors, Miller and Carol DeVine, are casting and directing the play. — A. C. H. S.'— That ole bug is here again! The flu “bug" has arrived at Adams Central. Several from each class have had to go home or have missed school because of it. We hope they will get well and return to school soon. — A. C. H. S. - The cards, ribbons, and wrappings purchased the past few weeks from the senior class have arrived. The seniors are now in the process of delivering them. Thank you for yoUr patronage. — A. C. H. Although the second team lost the game by a score of 32-30, the varsity won by eleven points, the Jets scoring 60 points and the Lancaster Bobcats scoring 49 points. Nice game. Jets! — A. C. H. S. — -Rush! Rush! Rush! The senior English students are now in the process of writing term papers. They have selected topics from the ’■common cold" to “pistols." S. — DECATUR CATHOLIC HIGH By Joan Gase Last Friday our schedule was sadly interrupted by the shocking - news of the assassination of President Kennedy. A pep rally had been planned. Instead, the juniors and seniors silently went to the auditorium where prayers were led by the cheerleaders. Our school band played the “Star Spangled Banner’ and Father Ueber spoke to the group about the sad occasion. School was then adjourned. The game between Marion-Bennett and DCHS was postponed. — D. C. H. S. - Students of Decatur Catholic high and grade school who participated in a music contest at Central Catholic high school’November 23 were: Mary Gase, Jim Wolpert, Phil Rumschlag, Anne Heimann, Joe Heimann. A symposium to discuss the nature and purpose of the sodality was presented to the' sodalists. Carol Cook served as chairman. Jane Tricker spoke on “Effectiveness of The Sodalitie’s Appostalate," Lynette Baker on “Spirituality of Our Lady,” and Anita Schirack on “True Sodalities Meet Modern Needs.” Father Ueber explained the purpose of propagation of the faith, a spiritual orginization of the church, to the sodalists. — D. C. H. S. — There will be no school Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holidays. We hope everyone will take this opportunity to thank God that such a great man as President Kennedy lived during our times. — D. C. H. H. s. — Considering both musical talent and leadership abilities, the members of the band elected Tom Baxter, senior, as the student director, with Tim Singleton, junior, as the assistant. Topi also directs the pep band which plays at rallies and pep sessions. - D. H. S. — With the usual cooperation between the merchants and the students, the student day sale was very successful. Yost Construction Is Low Bidder On Projects Yost Construction Co., Decatur, was low bidder on two maintenance projects for widening bridges in bids opened by the Indiana highway department Tuesday. One bid, of $73,952, was on three structures on Indiana 101 and 105 in Allen and Huntigton couties, and the second bid of $37,388 was for two structures on Indiana 118 and 303 in Wells county.
