Theft Os Bicycle Reported To Police Thomas Morgan, 1315 Mix Ave., filed a stolen bicycle report with the city police Wednesday. The bicycle was stolen Nov. 1, and is a boy’s red and white 24inch model.
Man Says Quartet Stole $7,300 Loot HUNTINGTON, Ind. (UPD— It wasn't a perfect crime, but it could have succeeded except for three men and a woman with larceny in their souls. Dan Fredell, 29, Detroit, Mich., allegedly took $7,300 from the Elias Brothers Restaurant in Hazel Park, Mich., where he wdrked as an assistant manager. His getaway plans were shaky and he resorted to hitchhiking. He made it to Fort Wayne without a hitch and spent Tuesday night there. Three men and a woman • offered ~ him “a' Tide to Evansville. , After staggering into Roanoke across the Huntington - Allen County line he told his tale to police while being treated for cuts and bruises inflicted by his '‘good Samaritans.” Fredell was in the Huntington County Jail today awaiting extradition to Michigan for a crime which netted him nothing. The men and the woman stole his ill gotten gains, he said. Five Tons Os Frozen Shrimp Are Seized DETROIT (UPD — Government inspectors seized nearly five tons of frozen shrimp Wednesday on the ground that it was improperly packed. Federal authorities, acting on orders from Washington, seized 661 cases of 24 packages each —a total shipment gs 9,915 pounds sent about a month ago from Kansas City. There was no botulism poisoning involved, authorities said. But they charged the shrimp ( was packed under unsanitary conditions and was “contaminated with filth.”

Citizens Telephone Awards Service Pins The Citizens Telephone system recently awarded service pins to 35 of its employees. The emblems'were awarded for spans of service from five to 45 years. * Citizens personnel of 101 persons have put in a total of 1,159 yeaes of service with that organization. Receiving five-year pins were Charles Carr, Lawrence Ehinger, Alice Gage, Ivan Oberlin, Jerry Rumple, Doris Spiegel and Lulu Voshell, and Winifred Mast, Charles Ritter and James Thomas of Nappanee. Receiving ten-year pins were Vera Fisher, —Paul Habegger Marjorie Shell and Mary Stults. Receiving 15-year pins were George Andrews, John Browfl, Namoi Colchin, Helen Kessen, Esther Lehman, Mabel Sautter and William Shepherd, and Warrenn Freed and Maynard Hochstetler of Nappanee. ’ Receiving 20-year-pins were Norma Kring of Argos, Bess Colchin and Elmer Hendricks. Receiving 40-year pins were Chester Heare, Helen Liechty and Jesse Case. Receiving a 45-year pin was Laura Stanley. Evansville Plans' New Civic Center EVANSVILLE, Ind. (UPD — Mayor Frank McDonald announced plans Wednesday for the construction of a S2O milliqn civic Center on a 30-acre downtown site. The center will serve as the home of the planned National Music Hall of Fame.
93 From Adams County Enroll At Ball State Adams county has 93 students enrolled at Ball State Teachers College this quarter, of 8,814 enrolled for college level courses. Eighteen Indiana counties have more than 100 students enrolled. In addition to the regular enrollment, there are 201 in extension or correspondence courses, and 317 in special non-academic courses. There are 56 students with Decatur addresses, two from Preble, three from Monroe, 20 from Berne, two from Linn Grove and 10 from Geneva. Ball State has students from 81 Indiana counties, 36 states and territories, and 18 foreign countries, but its enrollment is still primarily made up of Hoosier students. Indiana residents make up 95.5 per cent of the total college level enrollment and 100 per cent of the special students and extension class enrollees. Third Largest College The college, now third largest in Indiana, has grown 805 per cent since September, 1945. Over 10,200 students are expected next fall, Hauptman said. Delaware County has 1,618 students enrolled for 18.6 per cent of the total enrollment. The number of students from other Indiana counties is as follows: Madison County, 838; Marion County, 642; Lake, 373; Grant, 336; Henry, 382; St. Joseph, 311; Allen, 306: Wayne, 261; Randolph, 213; Howard, 169; Elkhart, 163; Jay, 158; LaPorte, 141; Hamilton. 132; Porter. 107; Wabash 105, and Blackford, 100. There are 367 out-of-state students this fall — 221 men and 146 women. With Ball State only 36 miles from the Ohio border, there are 120 enrolled from the Buckeye state, 41 from Illinois and 36 from Michigan. There are 32 students from foreign countries. National Youth For Christ Week Marked The observance of national Youth For Christ week, November 18, through 24, will be launched in this area by a rally Saturday at 7:30 p.m. It will be held at the Nuttman Avenue United Brethren church. The theme sor 0 the week is “Every teeh in church on November 24.’ 'fhe Rev. Bill Pauley will be the guest speaker for the rally. Rev. Pauley was formerly Youth For Christ club director for the Chicagoland Youth for Christ. He headquarters in Fort Wawne. Rev. now serves as Christian education and youth director of the Evangelical Mennonite conference with Pauley is in constant demand as a speaker for youth meetings. The rally will also include special music by teens from the area, testimonies from the two new Youth For Christ club presidents, and announcements concerning national Youth for Christ week. Suday, at 9 p.m., a singspiration will be held at the Evangelical United Brethren church in Berne. Bryon Fox wfH lead the singing. Music by teens from the area will also highlight this evening of inspiration. The Rev. Robert L. Cox will lead the devotional period. - A teen funspiration will be held November 19 at 7 p.m. at the Berne gym. The main feature of the program will be the film “The Gospel Blimp.” This film challenges youth to be for Christ among other teenagers. Young people at the funspiration will be urged to take another teenager to church with them November 24. All teenagers of the area are invited to attend these special observances of National Youth for Christ week. aS Fined And Sentenced For Drunken Driving Robert Dalrymple, 44-year-old Petroleum resident, was sentenced to five days in the Adams county jail and fined SSO and costs, totaling $71.75, in city court this morning. Dalrymple was arrested by state trooper Dan Kwasneski and deputy sheriff Warren Kneuss in Geneva about 10 o’clock Wednesday night and charged with driving while under the influence. He was arrested on U. S. 27. City Judge John B. Stults also suspended his driver’s license for a one-year period, and then remanded him to jail when Dalrymple was unable to pay the fine. .
