Man Acquitted Os Criminal Contempt Eribertq (Bob) Serna, 937 Harrison St., was rouna not guilty of -criminal contempt in the Adams circuit court Monday. Serna, who was represented by Howard J. Grimm of Kendallville, entered a plea of not guilty to the charge and the case was submitted to Judge Myles F. Parrish for trial. Judge Parrish found Serna not guilty and ordered him released from custody and his SSOO bond refunded to him. Rev. Paul G. Schmidt Dies At Lafayette The Rev. Paul G. Schmidt, 81, retired Lutheran minister, died Monday at his home ip Lafayette after* a critical illness of two weeks. He was pastor of St. James Lutheran church in Lafay-' ette for 35 years until his retirement in 1951, and served as assistant pastor several years after retirement. He was well known in Decatur, having visited and spoken here < several times while his son, the Rev. Edgar P. Schmidt, was pas- . tor of the Zion Lutheran church in this city. He is survived by his wife, four sons, one daughter, a sister. 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at the St. James Lutheran church in Lafayette. Friends may call at the Soller-Baker funeral home in Lafayette after 2 p. m. Wednesday. COURT NEWS Divorce Action In the case of Tomasa Serna vs Eriberto Serna, the parties and counsel agreed that the order of the court dated Aug. 23, be modified that the defendant have the right to visit his minor children from 12 noon to 8 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday until further order of the court. Damage Cases In the complaint for damages case of George J. Voelkl vs Alex F. Smith, and in another complpint for damages ease of Hazel M. Voelkl vs. Alex F. Smith, a petition to withdraw an answer and plea in abatement was filed. Both cases were venued from Allen county. Case Dismissed The disallowed claim case of Meshberger Bros. Knicks And Bullets Make Player Trade NEW YORK (UPD -The New York Knickerbockers of the National Basketball Association today’ acquired Billy (The Hill) McGill, the nations leading college scorer in 1961-62, from the Baltimore Bullets in exchange for Paul Hogue and Gene Shue. The Knickerbockers also announced that they are activating Tom Hoover and will cut another player from their roster before tonight's game with the St. Louis Hawks. Suffers Injury In One-Car Accident William T. Rupert, 74-year-old resident of Monroe was admitted to the Adams county memorial hospital following a one-car accident Monday evening at 8:30 o’clock. Rupert was southbound on the county farm road and failed to see the T intersection of state road 124, just east of Monroe. His car continued straight ahead and traveled an approximate 250 feet into a Held. He was taken to the local hospital and scheduled for x-rays today. Deputy sheriff Harold August and state trooper Dan Kwasneski investigated.
