OBSERVE 40TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. William Kruetzman observed their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday with a family dinner at noon at the Four Seasons restaurant. In the afternoon a reception was held in the educational room of the Salem United Church of Christ, Magley, from 2 until 5 p.m. The serving table was laid with white linen with a center piece consisting of white mums and red roses. Serving the guests were the Misses Ann Kruetzman, Ruth Sprunger, Carol Jean Erickson, Margaret Ann Zuercher and Mrs. Carl Wuertley. Assisting were the Misses Beverly and Jill Kruetzman and Linda Zuercher. The Kruetzmans were married October 21, 1923 at the St. Luke Refromed church near Honduras by the Rev. Otto Scherry, who was present for the anniversary celebration. Mrs. Kruetzman is the former Viola Lochner, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lochner. For several years, Mr. Kruetzman has been a member of the Adams county council, and both have been active in the church and community. They are the parents of two sons, Loren, who lives on the home farm near the parents, and Russell, who is with the research division of the Doane Agrciultural Service at St. Louis, Mo. They also have four granddaughters. MEETING HELD More than 700 school patrons of the Adams Central'community school met for their first P. T. A. meeting Monday evening in the school gym. President Robert Brown welcomed the parents and introduced the Rev. Dolar Ritchey, who gave the devotions. Ann Sprunger entertained the group with a solo entitled, “Somebody Bigger Than You and I,” and was accompanied by Judy Hakes. Philip Souder, school superintendent, expressed his appreciation for a fine attendance of parents and teachers and introduced the high school principal, who in turn introduced the high school faculty. The fifth grade chorus then sang in two part harmony, six songs pertaining to the season. The next meeting will be held November 18. The program will center on a newly developed guidance program at Adams Central. The meeting was adjourned for the parents to visit the home rooms of their children. Refreshments were served in the school cafeteria. DISCUSS PLANS FOR RECORD HOP The Academy of Friendship met at the Moose home for their regular meeting. The chairman opened the meeting by reading a poem and the club collect. A business meeting was held and it was decided to sponsor a record hop in the near future. A social hour with games and a lovely luncheon followed. The Mesdames Marcella Losche, Opal Myers, Laura Myers and Eleanor Baumann served as hostesses.

Total Gasoline Tax Funds $380,928 The quarterly gasoline tax appropriation for the Adams county highway system was received last week by the highway department. Die amount of the check was $79,904. This check brought the total funds received for the year to $380,928. The appropriations for the first three quarters were S7O, 325, $146,627 and $84,072.

PYTHIAN SUNSHINE GIRLS HOLD ANNUAL INSPECTION The Pythian Sunshine Girls held their annual inspection October 14 at the Moose home. The council was inspected by Lois Brewer, grand counsellor of Maricn. The officers included Helen Walters, royal princess; Carol Shady, friendship; Debbie Snyder, charity; Jane Ann Smith, royal prelate, Donna Wolfe, royal recorder; Esther Feasel, royal exchequer; Connie Call, royal guide; Beth Ann Snyder, mystic one; Sandy Wenger, royal warden; Linda Fulton, royal sentinel; and banner girls, Reamilda Harrell, color bearer; Vicki Eichhorn, charity; Terri Anderson, faith; Diana Durbin, hope; Lise Anderson, friendship, and Elaine Bowman, fidelity. After an impressive opening ceremony another equally impressive presentation of the American flag was viewed. For the first time that the Flo-Kan council had escorts, Connie Call, royal guide flanked on either side by Janet Gray and Linda Affolder presented the flag. Both girls were dressed in white, the one wearing a red cape, the other blue. The grand officers then introduced at the altar and given honors were Lois Brewer, grand counsellor, Sue Wagoner, grand sentinel, both of Marion, and Beth Ann Snyder, grand royal exchequer, and Vera Barber, grand royal advisor and supreme sentinel. Initiation followed and the council welcomed new members Linda Hershy and Joyce Bookout. The Decatur council then installer Keltner Stone of Fort Wayne as grand counsellor of district 2 After the closing, refreshments were served in keeping with the Halloween theme. There will be a masquerade party Saturday at 7:30 p. m. at the home of Raymond Walters. Hostesses will be Helen Walters and Connie Call. All members are urged to attend as it is to be entirely different from previous parties. They will not meet next Monday because of Pythian Sister inspection. SORORITY CHAPTER ENJOYS INDOOR GOLF Die Xi Alpha Xi chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Mrs. William Affolder for their social meeting recently. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Martin Weiland. After the luncheon, indoor golf was enjoyed by the group. Those having high scores were the Mesdames Lavelle Death, A. J. Reichert, Fred ' Fruechte, Clarence Ziner, and George Bair, Sr. The Eagles Auxiliary will meet at the home of Mrs. Delbert . Augsburger, Tuesday at 8 p. m. Following the short business meeting, aTlaHoWeen party will be held with all members urged to attend. This will replace the meeting regularly scheduled for the Eagles hall. The bridesmaids, Miss Kathy Bleeke and Miss Harriet Rice, were attired in bronze taffeta sheath dresses with matching shoes. The dresses featured scoop necklines and three-quarter length sleeves. Each attendant wore a pill box hat with matching veil and carried a bouquet similar to the honor attendant. William Conrad, cousin of the groom, stood as best man, with James Ten Eyck and Ronald Highland serving as groomsmen. Guests were seated by Thomas Feidler, Donald Conrad. Roger Pollock, and Paul Conrad, Jr. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Weidler chose a gold brocade sheath dress that was fashioned with a left shoulder drape. Black accessories and an orchid corsage completed the ensemble. Mrs. Conrad, mother of the groom, selected a royal blue sheath with matching accessories. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Moose home for approximately 250 guests. The serving table was laid with a gold and white net table cloth with gold ribbon pompoms and white and gold candles. Serving the guests were the Misses Arlene Becker, Karen Bieberich, Sue Dianne Ullery, Nancy Conrad, Lois Michael, and Mrs. Carol Ten Eyck. Opening and registering the gifts were the Mesdames Vern Witte, Rosie Pollock, and Paul Conrad, Jr. For a honeymoon to southern Indiana and the Smokey Mountains, the new Mrs. Conrad was wearing a royal blue velvet dress in princess styling with black accessories. The bride is a graduate of Monmouth high school and is presently a student at Warner Beauty College, Fort Wayne. The groom is a graduate of Decatur high school and Indiana Barber ColIcge, Indianapolis. Upon return from their wedding trip the couple will make their home at 1025 Mt Saville Avenue, Fort Wayne.
