JW “There is an old Jewish legend which says that after God created the world, He called the angels to Him and asked them what they thought of it; and one of them said, ‘One thing is lacking: the sound of praise to the Creator.’ So God created music, and it was heard in the whisper of the wind, and in the song of the birds; and to man also was given the gift of song. And all down the ages this gift of song has indeed proved a blessing to multitudes of souls.*’ Do You 1. What do Psalms 1 and 15 emphasize? 2. What is the central theme of the 23rd Psalm? 3. The Church Invites You The church is the best friend you ever had. It is associated with sweet memories, memories of brides, mothers, young babies, boys and girls. The church is blessed with helping hands and hearts. It acts as a safeguard to men; it lifts the fallen, strengthens the weak, helps the ristressed, shows mercy, bestows kindness and offers a friendly hand. The church is a source of inspiration, a guide to daily living, a sanctuary where one’s mind and heart and body can find repose and peace. The church has survived through the centuries in good times and bad times, in times of war and peace. It offers its ministries to all who wouid receive them. WHY NOT ACCEPT THE INVITATION AND COME TO CHURCH NEXT SUNDAY? THE BETTER WAY Edward J. Meeman, editor of tjie Memphis Press Scimitar, has described Jesus’ great contribution to mankind as follows: “If I were a carpenter I would be proud that Jesus worked at my trade. - If I were a physician, I would note how important Jesus held the healing of the sick, and glory in my profession. If I were a teacher, I would note how Jesus took ignorant and unlearned men and made them the carriers of the world’s highest knowledge. But I am an editor, and I see Jesus as incomparable the greatest editor who ever lived. A great editor finds what is most significant. He adds what is necessary for completeness. He arranges the words in the order that they can best be understood and valued. And so, Jesus stands also as the greatest editor who ever lived, the pattern and example for all editors who humbly seek to follow in His footsteps.” Lesson Prayer LESSON PRAYER: Dear Father, we thank Thee that Thou art on Thy throne, overruling human events, carrying out Thy purpose for Thy children. May we be patient and have faith that Thou dost rule the world, that goodness will prevail and Thy will be done in Thine own Thy kipgdqjjj on earth .assaafittaHa ■
