The First Methodist church was the scene of a double ring wedding ceremony September 28. Green and white mums adorning an altar provided the background for the Rev. A. C. Underwood to read the vows to join in marriage Miss Kathryn Hullinger and Michael L. Beery. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hullinger, and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Beery. Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Lobsiger provided the wedding music using such selections as "Because,” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a gown of bridal taffeta. The molded bodice was fashioned with a scoop neckline and long tapered sleeves ending in points over her hands. Accented with small tailored bows, die very bouffant skirt featured inverted pleats and a bustle at the back. The gown was highlighted by a cathedral length train. Her bridal bouquet consisted of white pom poms and a white orchid. The three tiered veil of silk illusion was held to a matching pill box touched with seed pearls. The maid of honor, Miss Karen Fuhur, chose a light olive green velveteen sheath featured a bell shaped overskirt of satin. Miss Fuhur’s bouquet consisted of white mums and pompoms. A pill box velveteen hat completed her ensemble. The flower girl, dressed identical to the honor attendant, carried a basket of pompoms. Master Terry Hullinger served as ring bearer.

Ron Highland stood as best man with Larry Moses, Bill Hullinger, and Nick Conrad serving as groomsmen. For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Hullinger chose a beige suit with green and black accessories. Mrs. Beery, mother of the groom selected a green brocade dress with matching accessories. Immediately following the ceremony a reception for aproximately 100 guests was held. A three tiered wedding cake, white with green trim was centered on a table that carried out the green and white color theme. Serving the guests were the Misses Sue Hitzman, Dee Maines, Sharon Hulliner, Harriet Rice, Pat Kurtz, and Jean Barkley. For a wedding trip of unannounced destination the new Mrs. Beery was wearing a red knit suit with black accessories. The bride is a graduate of Decatur high school and is employed at the Colonial Style Salon. Beery, also a Decatur graduate, attended Indiana University and is employed at International Harvester. The couple will make their home at 513 Marshall street, Decatur. OPEN HOUSE AT HOME DAIRY Sunday afternoon the Home Dairy of Berne held an open house for its employes, producers and area business men. Approximately 800 people attended the affair, which included a tour of the new plant and a buffet dinner that was served throughout the afternoon. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Russell Roeber, Fort Wayne, on an organ furnished by Zurcher Music. Ball fans were able to watch the series on a TV provided by Berne Electric. There will be an open house for the general public October 18 and 19 with details to be announced later.

EVERREADY CLASS MEETS AT CHURCH The Everready Sunday school class of the Methodist church met recently in the church lounge for their October meeting. Hymns entitled “More Love to Thee,” "Faith of Our Fathers,” and “Tell Me The Old Old Story” were sung by the group. Mrs. Asa Pollock led devotions using as meme, “Faith.” She read scripture from Matthew and poems entitled “A Prayer of Thanks” and “Faith,” closing with prayer. Mrs. W. P. Robinson, president, conducted the short business meeting. “Happy Birthday” was sung to Mrs. John Myers. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Chase showed pictures of Nova Scotia. During the social hour refreshments were served by Bedwell, Mrs. Lloyd Ruse, and Mrs. John Myers. The decorations were in keeping with the Halloween theme. DECATUR CAMERA CLUB MEETS MONDAY The Decatur Camera club held their regular meeting Monday evening at the Boy Scout shelter house. The meeting was conducted by the president, Paul Johnson. The slide of the month contest was a picture of an outdoor scene and was won by Ed Hesher. Mr. and Mrs. William Hutker were guests of the club. Refreshment were served by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson. The Queen of Angels Study Club will meet at the home of Mrs. Gene Dryer, Thursday at 8 p.m. The home of Mrs. Carl Braun will be the scene of a meeting of the Guardian Angels Study club, Thursday at 8 p.m. The Flo-Kan Sunshine Girls are to meet at the Moose home at 4:15 next Monday for practice for inspection. All members are asked to be present and prompt as important plans will be discussed. MRS. MARY ELZEY IS B. P. W. CAREER WOMAN Each year, at the beginning of national business women’s week, the Decatur Business and Professional Women’s club announces the club member who has been selected by the club as “BPW Career Woman of the Year.” National business women’s week is being observed throughout the nation during the week October 6 through 12. Mrs. Mary Elzey, owner of the Jani Lyn store, was selected by the Decatur BPW club members as the BPW career woman of 1963 and honored at a “Fellowship Tea,” Sunday at the American Legion home. Mrs. Mary Howard, 1962 BPW career woman, presented Mrs. Elzey a silver charm bracelet from the club and the “Fellowship Tea” guest book from the public relations committee, who were in charge of the “tea.” Mrs. Elzey was selected for her outstanding contributions and active participation in club activities during the past three years she has been a member. Mrs. Elzey has been the owner of the Jani Lyn store for the past six years and was employed as a sales clerk in the same store for five years prior to becoming owner. Mrs. Elzey devotes her. entire time to her store, the Business and Professional Women’s club and the Baptist church. William Feller, father of the groom, read the vows at the private, double ring wedding ceremony held at the Zion United Church of Christ Saturday afternoon. The.bride selected a street length sheath dregs of lace over taffeta. The fitted bodice with a scoop neckline topped the skirt that was' accented by a bow at the front and back. The bride carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations. ■'Die maid of honor. Miss Susan Stephey, college roommate of the bride, selected a street length pink sleeveless sheath dress. A small veil and a corsage of white carnations completed her ensemble. For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Rupp chose a pink knit suit. Mrs. Feller, mother of the groom, selected a cranberry suit with matching hat and jacket and black accessories. Both mothers wore corsages of white carnations. Paul Feller stood as his brother's best man. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents for approximately 30 guests. Serving at the reception were the Misses Judith Adler and Sut Stephey. For a wedding trip to upper Michigan the new Mrs. Feller was wearing a brown suit with beige accessories. ART DEPARTMENT HOLDS OPENING MEETING The Art Department of the Decatur Woman’s club opened its 196364 season at the home of Mrs. Frank Detter. Miss Charlotte Vera, chairman, led the group in repeating the club creed. During the business meeting it was announced that Miss Kathryn Kauffman was appointed fines secretary. All members are urged to attend the general meeting which will be a dinner at the Community Center, October 21. Miss Joan Wemhoff was accepted as a new member. The program for the evening was entitled “Art in Buddhism” and was thoroughly and interestingly presented by* 1 Mrs. A. R. Ashbaucher and Miss Matilda Sellemeyer. Delicious refreshments were served at the close of the meeting by the hostesses, Mrs. J. F. Azbell. Mrs. Detter. Mrs. Ashbaucher, and Miss Sellemeyer. The Civic department of the Decatur Woman’s club held its opening meeting in the 1 & M building Monday evening with 27 members present. Mrs. John A. Baumann, chairman of the department, presided over the business meeting, after which J. Ward Calland showed slides and talked on his recent travels in Russia and Berlin. Delicious dessert was served by the hostesses, the Mesdames John A. Baumann, Clarence Smith, Nathan Nelson and Earl Fuhrman. THIRTEEN A. C. H. S. TWIRLERS ENTER CONTEST Thirteen Adams Central twirlers entered the district twirling contest held Saturday at Fort Wayne. Those entering -were Donna 'Roudenbush, Diane Dennison, Darlene Geyer, Marlene Stucky, Becky Tonner, Ross Tonner, Linda Henschen, Darlene Rich, Carol Hoagland. Jo Ann Hirschy, Jane Inniger, Gloria Zimmerman, and Debby Smith. The girls teamed together to perform eight duets, four trios, and a quartet. Smith On Training Maneuver HAWAII (FHTNC) — Jan C. Smith, engineman third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Smith of 236 North 12th St.. Decatur, Ind., embarked on the fleet ocean t.ug USS Hitchiti, which operates out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, is participating in joint training maneuvers, titled, "Dull Knife." with the U. S Marine Corps. . The maneuvers are taking place in the Hawaiian Islands and will include amphibious assaults on the island of Molohai. Hitchiti is. one of eleven ships of Amphibious Squadron Seven participating indie maneuvers. After completingWhe exercise the squadron will sail to the Western Pacific for six months.
