Osterman, 4029 Robinwood Drive, Fort Wayne, formerly of Decatur, announces the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter, Julia Rose, to George W. Gilles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo P. Gilles, Alma Center, Wis. Miss Osterman is the daughter of the late Mr. Osterman. The bride elect is a graduate of Central Catholic high school and is employed as a legal secretary for McClain & Perry. Her fiance is a graduate of Lincoln high school, Alma Center, and is employed as a sales representative for Monroe Calculating Machine Company, Inc. The wedding will take place November 30 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

held Wednesday evening at her new home in Preble. Members of the ONO home demonstration club presented Mrs. Ewell with door chimes and a lovely vase for her new home. Cookies, nuts, mints, and coffee were served by Mrs. Don Menter and Mrs. Merle Terhune, who were in charge of the arrangements for the party. Others attending were the Mesdames Fred Bieberich, Willis Bulmahn, Paul Busse, Jr., Roy Bieberich, Don Haines, Bill Lister, Jim Merriman, Carl Menter, and Don Werling. Die Zion United Church of Christ Heidelberg class is sponsoring a masquerade party and box social for its members and their families, at the home of Mrs. Lawrence Rash, Wednesday at 6:30 p. m. WESLEY CLASS HOLDS PARTY Twenty-five members were present for the Wesley Sunday school class party of the First Methodist church. This was their first party of the fall season and was held in the church dining room. As the members arrived, each was given an appetizer of Halloween candy, nuts and cider. The meeting was called to order with Lawrence Ehraman in charge of the devotions taken from Luke 2: 39-49. After the business meeting was conducted by the class president, the meeting was turned over to the entertainment committee, Mrs. Lowell Smith gave an interesting talk on why Halloween is celebrated and pointed out that Halloween was first observed as a religious holiday. Clyde Butler then showed slides of their recent trip to Canada and Alaska. Refreshments of pumpkin pie and coffee were served from long tables decorated in the Halloween theme. Those serving on the committee in charge were Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ehraman, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lewton, Mr. and Mrs. D. Shady and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Daily. ADAMS COUNTY ROADSIDE COUNCIL MEETS The Adams County Roadside Council met Friday afternoon at the Decatur public library. Die president, Mrs. Ervin Stucky opened the meeting that was attended by nine members. Prayer was given by Mrs. Delton Passwater. The “ten commandents of the highway” were read by Mrs. N. A. Bixler. Mrs. Davison led the pledge. Mrs. Wilber Stanley announced that the district meeting would held at Auburn Friday beginning at 12 noon. A thank you note from Miss Louise Busche for planting a tree in! honor of her mother was read by Mrs. Stucky. Die new secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Albert Daviston, was then appointed. A discussion was held concerning the bad facilities at the Bluffton park. The group was happy to learn of the planting of some flowers at the Monroe park by the 4-H club as their project for the fair. Otto Hoffman was paid for the mowing and upkeep of the park in Monroe. An invitation was received from Mrs. Floyd for the group to hold their November meeting there. OBSERVES 80TH BIRTHDAY SATURDAY Mrs. Caroline Hoile celebrated her 80th birthday at her home at 115 North 10th street, Saturday evening. Present for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Hilbert Hoile, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stoppenhagen, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Busse, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hoile, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stoppenhagen and Denny, Kay Bultemeier, Alan and Renne Bussie, Georgia Law, Bonnie, Doug and Wendy Hoile, Jerry and Ken Moses, Tom, Colleen, Joan and Ned Hoile, Laurie and Danny Stoppenhagen. The honored guest received many lovely cards and gifts: The Rev. and Mrs. Droegemueller visited with her Friday afternoon. The Hope Circle of the W. S. C. S. of the Union Chapel church will irieet at the home of Mrs. Wayne Troutner, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Miss Janette Brown will be the program leader. This will be guest night.

White and yellow gladioluses on an altar flanked with candelabra set the scene for a double ring ceremony Sunday at the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church. The Rev. J. O. Penrod read the vows to join in marriage Miss Karen Darlene Grice and Bill Lee Roth. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grice, 963 Parkview Drive, and Mr. and Mfrs. Martin Walchle, route 2, Decatur. Miss Kaye Wynn, organist, provided the wedding music. The bride, escorted, to the altar by her father, appeared in a floor length gown of lace and satin. The lace bodice formed a peak at the waist and was v-shaped at the back. The sleeves formed 'points over her hand's. The satin skirt swept into a tong full train. The bride carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid. Her elbow length veil of imported silk illusion washeld to ; a eT6Wn ’ of pearls. Die maid of honor, Miss Evelyn Snyder, chose a street length gown of Nile green organza over taffeta. The bcdice featured a scoop neckline and elbow length sleeves. The bell shaped skirt was fashioned with a rose at the waist line and streamers that reached the hem line. Her bouffant veil had a matching organza veil highlighted with small berries. Miss Snyder carried a bouquet of white carnations and yellow mums. Ron Secaur stood as best man, with Max Ainsworth and Jim Schiendler serving as ushers. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Preble - Gardens—restaurant—for—approximately 300 guests. A color theme ’ of yellow, green, and white was carried out throughout. Societu. District one of the Indiana State Nurses Association will hold a joint session meeting Tuesday beginning at 7:45 p. m. at the English Hall, Parkview school of nursing, Fort Wayne. The topic will be “Social Lag in Medicine” with a film on three case histories to be shown. The E.A.C.T. and private duty sections are the hostess group. Business meetings for the sections will follow. Members as well as non-members are invited to attend. The members of the Root Township Home Demonstration club who are planning to take the trip are to meet at Monmouth school at 8 a m. Tuesday. The Queen of the Holy Rosary Study club will meet at the home of Mrs. Betty Miller. Thursday at 8 p.m. There will be a white elephant sale.
