mary circle meets AT BORCHERS HOME The M «ry circle of the Decatur E.U.B. church, held its October meeting at the home of Mrs. Wanda Borchers. The meeting opened with devotions given by Mrs. Dorothy Beeler. She then conducted the business meeting. Mrs. Dorothy Bowman presented an interesting lesson. Refreshments were served by the hostess to the 12 members present, pie next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Carolyn Bowman with Mrs. Betty Hoverman as leader. 4-H HAY RIDE SUNDAY The Preble Jolly Juniors 4-H boys and girls enjoyed a hay ride Sunday evening. The tractor and wagon were furnished and driven by Hugo Bulmahn. After the hay ride a wiener roast was held at the home of the leaders, Mr. and Mrs. Reiney Selking. Irvin Worthman, Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Selking, and James Fuhrman, assistant leader. Guests included Linda Worthman, Wanda Koenemann, and Charles Schiffli. Members of the Root Township Home Demonstration club who are planning to take the trip next Wednesday are asked to meet at Monmouth school at 9 a.m. the day of the trip. The Salem Methodist W.S.C.S. will meet Thursday at the home of Mrs. Clifford Roe at 1:30 p.m. There will be an auction at this meeting. The P.T.A. executive committee met at Monmouth school Wednesday. "EELS” ENTERTAIN WOMEN OF MOOSE Die Women of the Moose met at the Moose home Thursday evening with senior regent Mrs. Charles Haney in charge. Mrs. Charlotte Marbach was in charge of the chapter night program. A barbershop quartet who call themselves the "Eels,” comprised of Ervin‘and Ed Ewell, Don Sprunger and Al Lehman entertained the group. Following enrollment, refreshments were served by Mrs. Marbach. Die next meeting will be held October 24 at the Moose home at 8 p. m. Diere will be a Dutch Maid party following the meeting beginning at 8:30 p. m. that is open to the public. The W.S.C.S. of the First Methodist church of Decatur will meet at the church chapel, Thursday beginning with a quiet hour at 10:30 a. m. Diis is a service of prayer and self-denial. The theme of. the meeting is “The Church Speaks of Dies,” with Mrs. Ray Walters in charge of worship and Mrs. Jesse Niblick as program leader. Circle 1 is the hostess. The Union Chapel Charity circle will meet Thursday at the home of Mrs. Don Hirschy at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Warren Nidlinger is the leader. The Calvary Ladies Aid will meet at the home of Bessie Johnson Monday at 7:30 p. m. GOLDEN AGE GROUP MEETS RECENTLY The Golden Age Group of the Methodist church met recently at the home of Mrs. Charles Beineke, with Mrs. Drue ilia Myers as assistant hostess. Mrs. Helen Baughmann, chairman, opened the meeting with prayer. The group then sang the hymns entitled “God Will Take Care of You,” “I Love Him,” and “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.” Mrs. Raymond Walters gave the devotions and Mrs. Lloyd Ahr gave a story entitled “The Little Outcast,” and read poems entitled “Don’t Judge Others Too Hard,” “Friends" and “Faithful.” A short business meeting was held with 23 members and three guests reported present. The next meeting will be held October 24. The Catholic Laylies of Columbia enjoyed a delicious potluck dinner Monday at 6:30 p. m. Guests were seated at long tables in a diamond shape where fall atmosphere prevailed with bouquets of fall flowers, leaf napkins and nut cups. A short business meeting followed, after which games were enjoyed by the group. Die chairman for the evening's entertainment was Mrs. Joseph Kitson, assisted by Mrs. George Stults and Miss Helen Wellman. Locals Raymond Kohne visited last week with Dr. and Mrs. L. A. O’Donnell and family, Springfield, Va. Mrs. O’Donnell was formefly Miss Rose Marie Kohne, daughter of Raymond Kohne. Local Students At DePauw University Greencastle, Ind. (Spl.) — Two Decatur students have enrolled for the fall semester at DePauw University in Greencastle. Indiana. They are Jeanie Cook, route 1, and Daniel Heller, 404 Limberlost St.

Bowman, Decatur, and the late Ward Bowman, is engaged to marry Larry A. Andrews, son of Mr. and Mrs. True Andrews, route 1, Decatur. Miss Bowman graduated from Decatur high school. International Business College and is employed as secretary to Robert S. Anderson, local lawyer. Andrews graduated from Monmouth high school, Indiana Central College and received his master’ s de—gree from Ball State. Teachers College, and presently teaches in the Berne school. No wedding date has been set.
MRS. PATSY LEADERS GUEST SPEAKER Mrs. John Genth welcomed the members of the Happy Homemakers Home Demonstration dub into her home .for their regular monthly meeting. Mrs. Shefflon Wagley, president, presided ar the meeting, and opened with the club creed. Mrs. George Thomas gave the ’ devotions followed by roll call answered- by' “What I want most for my children." Mrs. Earl Harmon gave the history of the song of the month, “-Let There Be Peace On Earth,” and led the group in singing it. The citizenship lesson, entitled “Citizenship for Tomorrow’? Children" was given by Mrs. Clifford Roe. Membership dues were then collected and an election of officers was held with the results as follows: president, Mrs. John Genth; vice president, Mrs. John Baltzell; secretary, Mrs. Lee Hoopingarner, treasurer, Mrs. Dwight Sehnepp; leaders, Mrs. Ermal Gilbert and Mrs. Harry Bowers; alternate leaders; Mrs. Floyd
