FLOWER SHOW DATES SET Mrs. George Chalfant and Mrs. Ralph Henry, co-chairmen, announce the 4th annual Chrysanthemum show presented by the Federated Garden Clubs of Wells county will be held from 1 until 9 p.m. Saturday, October 19 and from 1 until 6 p.m. Sunday, October 20 at the Wells county 4-H fair grounds. There will be clubs from Uniondale, Ossian, Zanesville, and Bluffton participating. Last year the show attracted over a thousand visitors with 475 entries being exhibited. The Kirkland W. C. T. U. will meet at the home of Mrs. Blanche Landis Monday evening at 7:30. The Miriam Circle of the W. S. W. S. Decatur E. U. B. church will meet at the home of Mrs. Martha Rawley, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Vera Vanßuskirk will be the leader. K. C. AUXILIARY HOLDS BUSINESS MEETING The K. C. Auxiliary held a business meeting recently with Mrs. Herman Heimann presiding in the absence of the president, Mrs. Al Scheiner. A discussion was held concerning the Halloween party. The meeting closed with prayer. Games were then played by the members and prizes awarded the winners. A luncheon was served to the members present. The next meeting will be a card party to be held October 9.

GARARD—SOCIETY MISS LINDA KRUETZMAN HONORED WITH SHOWER Miss Linda Kruetzman, brideelect of Gene Kaltoff was honored with a miscellaneous shower given Wednesday evening by Mrs. John Fuhrman and Miss Ruth Ann Beery at the latter’s home. Upon arrival the bride-to-be was presented with a corsage of kitchen utensils. Games were played and the prizes won by Mrs. Carol King, Mrs. Robert Mankey and Miss Carolyn Hoffman were presented to the guest of honor. The gift table was decorated with an umbrella and flower arrangement. Refreshments of cake, punch, mints and nuts were served to the guest of honor and the Mesdames Milton Kruetzman, Ernest Kaltoff, Mike Rauner, Robert Yoder, Ted Yoder, Ella Scherry, Elmer Peters, Ralph Ross, Jr,, Rex King, Mildred Kruetzman, Walter Haines, Robert Mankey, Oscar Bieberich, Karl Bieberich, Carl Elliott, Lewis Ehlerding, and the Misses Carol Helmrich, Winnie Rafert, Ann Kruetzman, Janet Shaffer, Nyla Girod, Carolyn Hoffman, Jean Kolter, Shirley Liby, Bev Nahrwold, Pat Kaltoff, Kathy Walters and Helen Reppert. Unable to attend but sending gifts were the Mesdames Milo Rauner, Otto Helmrich, Ted Helmrich and the Misses Mary Ann Korb and Dorothy Selking. LIVE AND LEARN CLUB MEETS AT FOOR HOME Mrs. Wilbur Foor was hostess to the Live and Learn Home Demonstration club Wednesday afternoon. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Donald Smith, to the fifteen members and two guests, Dorothy Fry and Virginia Foor, present. Mrs. Ivan Barkley, club president, opened the meeting by having the group repeat the club creed. Mrs. Earl Chase gave the history of the song of the month, “I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen” and led the group in singing it. Devotions were given by Mrs. Glen Roughia. James Whitcomb Riley's 114th Birthday Oct 7 INDIANAPOLIS (UPD—TradU tional ceremonies marking uie 114th anniversary of the birth of Hoosier poet James Whitcomb Riley will be held at the old Riley homestead on Lockerbie St. Oct.7. Pupils from School No. 9, public officials and members of the board of governors of the Riley Memorial Association which maintains the home as a shrine, will participate in the program. The home will be officially designated as a national historic landmark, with Ronald F. Lee of Philadelphia, regional director of the National Park Service, attending the ceremony.

Union Chapel Holds Bible Week Union Chapel Evangelical United Brethren church announced today that they will hold a series of meeting ’next “to" promote" Denominational Bible week. Week's Menu At Cafeteria Several parents have recently contacted the Decatur high school cafeteria requesting information concerning the food served there, Mrs. Mildred Stevens head of the cafeteria, said this morning that the menus are carefully planned to provide a balanced diet. She said that students often report only the foods they like to their parents and that some parents were under the impression that a balanced diet was not being served. The menu for this week is: Monday: Johnny Marzetti, lettuce salad, fruit, bread and butter, milk. Tuesday: Ham and beans, celery, carrot sticks, pickles, corn bread, bread and butter, chocolate pudding and milk. Wednesday: Sloppy Joe sandwitches, french fries, pineapple upside down cake and chocolate milk. Thursday: Hot Dog sandwich, french fries, buttered carrots, vanilla pudding, milk. Friday: Fish sandwich,-buttered corn, bean salad, ice cream, bread and butter, milk. The Menu for next week is:

Locals Thomas TorsOn, Jr., 3-month-old grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Everhart, of Decatur, is reporting progressing nicely following minor brain surgery Tuesday. A burrhole inventory on the right side of the brain disclosed that a blood clot had dissolved, andsOTgery, as was necessary three weeks ago on the other side, was not necessary. The baby is expected to be released from the hospital in about two weeks; no damage is apparent. The mother is the former Janet Everhart. Mrs. Frank Rowley left this morning for Cheyenne. Wyo., for a two-week visit with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Owens.
