I ing year was submitted by Mrs. Stevens and accepted by the sorority. Committee reports were given by the symphony chairman, Mrs. Fred Isch; county home chairman, Mrs. Robert Doan; and the trading post co-chairmen, Mrs. Robert Strickler and Miss Alice Roth. It was announced that a “painting party” would soon be held to redecorate the main room of the trading post. Any member interested in assisting with this project is asked to contact either Mrs. Strickler or Miss Roth. A motion was presented and carried to sponsor a local high school girl at Girls State next summer at Indiana University. A new movie screen has been purchased for use at the community center. This project was made possible through donations from the Psi lota Xi sorority, the medical association, Lions club, Krick-Tyndall company, and the Women’s dub. Complimentary tickets were received from the Gamma Alpha chapter of the Psi lota Xi sorority at Portland for their 16th annual antique show which will be held October 16 and 17 at the armory. Home cooked food will be a feature of the annual event. An invitation was also received from the Alpha Rho chapter, Garrett, to attend the northern Province meeting. It will be held at the Club Olympia, Fort Wayne, October 19. Following the business meeting “crazy bridge” was played by the members and two guests, Mrs. Jane Mich and Mrs. Jane Booth, present. Hostesses for the evening Were the Mesdames William Hutker, Tom Schlotterback, Robert Doan, Gene Rydell, the Misses Rosemary Gase and Jackie Burke. The next meeting will be held October 22. GALS AND PALS TO MEET FRIDAY The Gals and Pals Home Demonstration club will meet at the home of. Mrs. Norman Young, Friday at 7;30 p.m. Members are reminded to bring Ideas and instructions for Christmas decorations that children can make. EAGLES AUXILIARY MEETS AT MORRIS HOME The Eagles Auxiliary met recently at the home of Mrs. Edna Morris with nine members present. Four new members were voted into the auxiliary. They are Marjorie Shell, Beulah Ainsworth, Almeda Snyder, and Sandra Chilcote. Plans were completed for the supper to be held at the Eagles Hall September 28, from 5 - 7:30 p. m. This will also be guest night at the lodge with dancing from 9:30 until ? The Thiele orchestra will provide the music. The next meeting will be held October 8 at 8 p. m. at the Eagles Hall at which time there will be a formal installation of new members and an election of a vice president. ELECTION OF OFFICERS HELD BY SUNNY CIRCLE CLUB Tuesday evening the Sunny Circle Home Demonstration club met at the Preble Recreation center for their September meeting. Mrs. Marvin Conrad, president, called the meeting to order by asking the members to join in repeating the club commandments. Psalm 100 was read by Mrs. Richard Scheumann for devotions. The history of the song of the month, “I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen” was given by Mrs. Ralph Mankey and was sung by the group accompanied by Mrs. Glen Girod on the piano. Roll call was answered by “how the parents can help the teacher.” The health and safety lesson was given by Mrs. Edwin Reifsteck on high blood -pressure. Mrs. William Kruetzman and Mrs. Richard Scheumann then gave a lesson on “Family Food Needs,” stressing that it is very important to have balanced meals every day. It was announced that a Christmas handicraft carnival would be held at the Farm Bureau Co-op building in Monroe October 15 from 1- 3 p. m. CLUB CREED OPENS MEETING The members of the Jolly Housewives Home Demonstration club met at the Pleasant Mills school Tuesday with Eithel Ray presidclub creed followed with devotions given by Lucille Miller. Thirtythree members answered roll call by telling “how parents can help the teacher.” Marilyn Sheehan gave the history of the song of the month, “I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen,” and led the group in singing it. Members were informed of a special interest meeting to be held October 15 at the I & M social room. Ward Calland will show pictures of his trip to Russia. The proper handling of food removed from the freezer was explained by Gloria Bowman in her lesson on freezing foods. Irma Mailand presented the health and safety lesson on diabetes. Mrs. Robert Krueckebetg, Mrs. Richard Collins and Mrs. John Baumann were hostesses. Mrs. John McConaha opened the meeting with the opening ceremony and prayer. Pinochle, hearts, bridge, and canasta were played by the group. Lovely refreshments were served by the hostesses. The next meeting will be a founders day service at the home of Mrs. Krueckeberg, October 16 at 8 p.m. All members must be present.

Girl Scout troop 70 held a meeting recently. The meeting opened with an election of officers. Barbara Braun was elected president; Kathy Kriegel, treasurer; and Chris Cook, scribe. Plans were made for the next meeting which will be held September 30. OPENING MEETING HELD AT FOUR SEASONS The opening meeting of the Historical club was held at the Four Seasons Restaurant,. Wednesday. Twenty-one members and one guest were present. The table was graced with a lovely center piece of fall flowers and candles. Various colored oak leaves bearing each member’s natpe designated the seating arrangement. Each member told of past summer experiences. A short business meeting was held and it was announced that the next meeting would be held at the home of Mrs. Margaret Price, October 9. The meeting was adjourned with the reading of the club collect. The D. A. V. Auxiliary met Monday evening fOr their social meeting. Games were played and refreshments were served by the hostess .Mrs. Joan Hodle. The next regular meeting will be held October 14. The Olive Rebakah lodge met Tuesday evening at the Red Men’s Hall with a good attendance reported. The Three Link club met following this meeeting and held a white elephant sale. The next meeting will be held October 8.
