Shoots 2 Under Majorki Defeated 1- Up In Morning Round

Decatur golf pro Luke Majorki, runner-up in the qualifying rounds, was eliminated this morning from Fort Wayne’s PGA play by a redhot Wayne Timberman, Jr., 1-up. Timberman, son of a former PGA winner, was three under regulation figures, Majorki, two under, as the match ended. Majorki had been runner-up in the qualifying rounds with a one-under-par 70 on the Orchard Ridge course. He won both matches Tuesday, playing steady golf, eliminating Mike Haywood of Madison in the morning 3 and 2, and trouncing George Tarasick of Michigan City in the afternoon duel, 5 and 4. Oneup at the turn, Majorki won the 12th, 13th, and 14th holes tp ice the match. Losers in the morning quartefr-finals <et $125. Two of the women’s leagues are afternoon leagues and are designed for young mothers with children. The bowling alley even provides a nursery service. Mrs. Dick Mies is giving the instructions using both group teaching and individual instruction to give the pupils the fundamentals of the pendulum swing, pushaway and stance, the four step approach and the four step delivery. The five women’s leagues now in operation are the Monday night Town and Country league, the Thursday night, Women’s Major league, the Friday night Suburban league, the Wednesday afternoon TV Guides and the Thursday afternoon Coffee league. When this fall’s'’high school leagues have begun their activity the league program will include about 850 bowlers participating in the 36-week league schedule. Junior High Plays Village Woods Today The junior high football team will play its second game of the season this afternoon, entertaining Village Woods of New Haven in a 4:30 p.m. contest at Wortiman Field. The junior high opened its season last week with a 14-0 victory over Parkway, O„ on a pair of long TD runs by Don Cummings. The freshman team will be in action Thursday, entertaining the Berne freshmen in a 6:30 p.m. contest at Worthman Field.
