ZIMMERMAN REUNION HELD RECENTLY Sunday, August 18, a family gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zimmerman. They were the sons and daughters of Mrs. C. M. Zimmerman and the late C. M. Zimmerman, with the grandchildren and great grandchildren being well represented. A basket dinner was enjoyed at noon with 70 present. Pictures were taken in the afternoon. Those present were Mrs. C. M. MISS SUDDUTH HONORED AT SHOWER A surprise miscellaneous shower was given in honor if Miss Sharon Sudduth by Kathy Walters and Helen Peppert at the latter’s home. Upon arrival the guest of honor was presented with a corsage of kitchen utensils. Games were played and prizes won by Miss Janet Fuelling and Mrs. Phyllis Arnold, who in turn presented them to the honored guest. PSI IOTA XI HOLDS FORMAL INITIATION The home of Mrs. Roger Stevens, Psi lota Xi president, was the scene of the formal initiation of three new members into the sorority. They were the Misses Cynthia Collier, Barbara Rutter, and Alice Schroeder. The initiation, was conducted by Mrs. Ray Fager, assisted by Mrs. Robert August, Miss Rosemary Gase, Mrs. William Freeby and Mrs. Stanley Allison. Following the candle light ceremony, refreshments of punch, brownies and mints and nuts were served to the initiates, ofricers of the sorority, and sponsors of the initiates. The next meeting will be held in the Community Center, Girl Scout room, September 24. 39’ERS CLUB GATHERS AT COMMUNITY CENTER The 39’ers club met at the Community Center Tuesday evening for a carry-in supper. The president, Mrs. John M. Doan, having returned following a recent illness, presided. Mrs. Earl Mounsey was welcomed as a guest of the club. After the business meeting Mrs. O. K. Baker gave a short talk on her trip to California. The remainder of the evening was spent playing games with white elephants as prizes. The next meeting will be held September 17. After the meeting the club will have a folk song singfest. The Sarah Circle of the Decatur E. U. B. church will meet Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Sephus Jackson, with Mrs. Hurbert Cochran as co-hostess. The leader will be Mrs. Frank Bohnke. The St. Catherine’s Study chib will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Rita Gerber. ■- ' » The ONO Home Demonstration club will meet Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Roy Bieberich at 7:30 p.m. Pete Mayclin celebrated his 14th birthday Tuesday. Gjaests at his party included his grandparents, Mr .and Mrs. B. F. Shroyer, sister, Susan, brother, Tim and parents, Mr.' and Mrs. J. Clark Mayclin. During the evening his sister, Missy, a student at Butler University, called to convey her birthday wishes to him. The Evangeline Circle of the Zion United Church of Christ will meet at the home of Mrs. Don Moser Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Eta Tau Sigma sorority will meet Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Dick Arnold. The Pythian Sisters Needle club will meet after Temple at the Moose home Monday at 7:30 p.m. The hostesses will be Mrs. Minnie Corey and Mies Nessie Myers. Mr. and Mrs. Roger E. Schaffter, route 1, Berne, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Emma Marie, to David Dale Biery. son of Mrs. Frances Biery, Geneva. Miss Schaffter is a graduate of Berne-French high school and is a student at Ravens-Croft Beauty college in Fort Wayne. Her fiance is a graduate of Geneva high school, attended Ball State Teachers College and is employed by International Harvester in Fort Wayne. The wedding will take place September 22 at 2 p. m. in the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Vera Cruz.

MART CIRCLE MEETS AT BEELER HOME The Mary Circle of the Decatur E. U. B. church held its September meeting at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Beeler. Mrs. Beeler open- ‘ ed the meeting with devotions taken from John 4: 31-38._ She _then | conducted the business meeting. Mrs. Nellie Krummen then gave an interesting lesson entitled, “Each a Part of His Plan.” The hostess ; served refreshments to the nine' members present. PLANS INITIATION The Catholic Ladies of Columbia enjoyed a potluck dinner Tuesday at 6:30 p. m. followed by a short business meeting. Plans for the initiation to be held at the K. of C. hall Sunday afternoon, Sept. 15. were discussed. A group of candidates from the Van Wert council will be included. Locals Mell Zoss, of Bill Zoss Chevrolet, is reported recovering from surgery for the removal of a lung. ; He is a patient in room 310, Parkview memorial hospital, Fort Wayne, and would appreciate cards from his Decatur friends. Jack E. Harker has been granted a student’s pilot license. Adrian J. Baker has returned home following his dismissal from the Crawford hospital in Crawford, Neb. Mr. and Mrs. Rory Jahn, Fort Wayne, were visitors last weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Johnston. Mrs. Johnston recently underwent surgery.
