Hill, Pastor Morning Worship 9:30 a.m. Church school 10:30 e.m. Sermon Topic: “The Old and the New” The sermon theme for the coming year is “Sharing Our Faith There are many ways of sharing our faith and this is an effort to give some attention to them. We need to be constantly aware of the methods which Christ used in teaching an awareness of God. This Sunday evening we will be providing another activity for the migrant workers at the temporary home. We hope you will have a desire to participate in this program. Our Junior deacons will begin assisting in the pulpit this Sunday morning. Mr. Donald Stucky will read the call to worship and bring the invocation. He will also give the offering mediation and prayer. The Elders, Deacons, and Jr. Deacons will meet at the church next Sunday evening, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Our purposes is to discuss the responsibilities of these groups and to elect a chairman for each group. The Adult choir will practice this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Mr. Jim Webb. The choir will bring its first anthem on Sunday Sept. 8. The church is being charged by many as having fallen down in its task of teaching morality. Public schools are more and more turning this responsibility over to the parents and the church. If the church is to succeed in its task, parents and children must in turn recognize that morality depends upon the general attitude of society. If our society is religious, our morality will be based upon the great commandment, “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” If our society is not considered religious its morality will be left to human reason. Human reason has often proved itself to be undependable in the past. Therefore we urge you to put your faith and trust in God and attend church every Sunday.

The Church Invites You In ah era when the very continuation of life seems to depend upon the whims of a few world leaders, we must remember that Christ is still the Lord of History and chooses to Work through the lives of individuals to carry out His purposes. Mankind has tapped the basic source of physical power in the universe — nuclear power — a power which can be used for terrible destruction or great benefits. Wise men feel helpless to guarantee its proper use and realize we must depend on a still more basic source of power—God Himself. His love and concern are made known through Jesus Christ who alone is able to give inner peace, courage, wisdom, and to motivate us to use our knowledge for the good of mankind. God’s purposes are revealed in Christ’s church. WHY NOT ACCEPT THE INVITATION AND COME TO CHURCH NET SUNDAY? A HAPPY HOME Beautitudes for Parents Marion Kinneman has offered the following: ———-— “Blessed are the parents who make their peace with spilled milk and with mud, for of such is the kingdom of childhood. Blessed is the parent who engages not in the comparison of his child with others, for precious unto each is the rhythm of his own growth. Blessed are the fathers and mothers who have learned laughter, for it is the music of the child’s world. Blessed and wise are those parents who understand the goodness of time, for they make it not a sword that kills growth but a shield to protect. Blessed and mature are they who without anger can say no, for comforting to the child is the security of firm decisions. Blessed is the gift of consistency, for it is heart’s-ease in childhood. Blessed are they who accept the awkwardness of growth, for they are aware of the constant perilous choice between marred furnishings and damaged personalities. Blessed are the teachable, for knowledge brings understanding, and understanding brings love.”
