The St. Mary’s Catholic church was the scene of a double ring wedding ceremony at 10 a.m. today. The Rev. Robert Jaeger of the St. Patrick’s church, Fort Wayne, read the vows to join in marriage Miss Harriet Halikowski and Thomas N. Rumschlag. Vases of white glads and mums provided a background. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Stan Halikowski, 1022 Vine streej;, and Mrs. Clara Rumschlag, route 6, and the late Lewis Rumschlag. Mrs. John Girard, organist, and the St. Mary’s men’s choir provided the wedding music. Escortetkto -the altar by her father the bride appeared in a knee leflgth goVm of lace over taffeta. The bodice featured a round neckline with a satin bow down the front. The bride wore a strand of pearls with earrings to match, a gift of the groom. A self-fabric rose held the short veil. She carried an arrangement of red carnations with white mums.

Miss Julie Barnett, Elwood, was maid of honor and selected a blue;, taffeta sheath with' matching over skirt. A small bow held her short veil. Miss Barnett carried an arrangement of white mums centered with blue. The bride’s mother chose a blue and white jersey dress with white accessories and a corsage of lavendar orchids. The mother of the groom selected a blue and green print dress with white accessories and a corsage of white orchids. Lewis Rumschlag served as his brother’s best man, with James Rumschlag and Maurice Wyss seating the guests. A wedding dinner was held at the C. L. of C. hall at noon for 30 guests. A reception will be held at the K. of C. hall from 2-5 p.m. for approximately 200 guests. Serving at the reception w?l be the Misses Judy Cook, Joyce Vi an, Thresa Hain, Ruth LaFountain, Carol Tricker, and Elizabeth Rnmschlag. For a wedding trip to Wisconsin the new Mrs. Rumschlag will be wearing a navy blue suit with white accessories and a red carnation corsage. The Friendship Circle of the Decatur Missionary church will meet Friday at the home of Mrs. Robert Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. The Bellmont Home Demonstration club will have a swimming party at the home of Helen McDonald, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Kirkland Ladies club will meet at the home of Mrs. Floyd Ehrman, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Preble Restaurant will be the scene of a gathering of the Eta Tau Sigma sorority Tuesday at 8 p.m. Miss Florence Brandyberry is the hostess. The Decatur Soyette club held a membership drive meeting in the main office coffee shop Thursday noon. There were 29 ladies at the luncheon and all who were not members were urged to join the club. The purpose and objective of the club is “to promote good fellowship and mutual understandfor educational and recreational ing and to provide opportunities activities for its members.”
Locals Lores Lehman and son Larry, and Kenny Riffle have returned from a vacation in Michigan. While on their trip they visited at the Mackinac bridge, then saw the Soo locks and traveled into Canada. On their way home they stopped at the O’Hare airport in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Hodshire of Valparaiso visited Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miller, Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miller had as their weekend guests Mr. and yMrs. Francis Orroch and family from Fredericksburg, Va., and T. Mitoma of Washington, D.C. Mitoma is the gardner at the Japanese embassy in Washington. Mns. Harry Brown has taken residence in Fort Wayne but will continue her classes in oil painting, sketching, and design, in Decatur. The fall classes will begin September 7. Anyone interested in these classes and desiring further information is to contact Mrs. Brown at the fire station.

Martin is a graduate of Earlham College, Richmond, where he received a B. A. degree in chemistry. He has also attended Miami University at Oxford, Ohio. Miss Sara Ann Eichenauer became the bride of James C. McHugh this morning at* 11 o’clock in the St. Mary’s Catholic church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simton Schmitt read the sacred vows. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Eichenauer, 1015 Master Drive. The bridegroom is the son of Daniel McHugh of Ridgewood, N.J., and the late Mrs. Helen McHugh. The bride wore a gown of bridal satin accented with a lace jacket, the front of which was studded with seed pearls.- The bouffant veil was held to a forward worn crown of orange blossoms. She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses and pale yellow carnations. 1 The maid of honor. Miss Mary Eichenauer, sister of the bride, wore a yellow gown of silk organza over taffeta. The bodice featured a scoop neckline and short sleeves. The bell-shaped skirt was highlighted by a self-fabric rose. She carried a cascade arrangement of yellow pompoms and ivy streamers. For hnr daughter’s wedding. Mrs. Eichen£mer ( selected a dress of dusty green, embroidered with white. Black accessories and a corsage of pink astors completed her ensemble. Peter McHugh, brother of the groom, served as best man. Ushering were Barry Gordan, Trenton, N.J., and John Eichenauer. A reception will be held on the lawn at the home of the bride’s parents with approximately 100 attending. Serving at the reception will be Miss Polly Faze, Ada, O.; and Mrs. Pat Nelson. Deactur. Berne Girl Fourth In Twirling Finals Cassandra McCrory, 10, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James McCrory of Berne, placed fourth in the world twirling queen finals held at Toledo, Ohio, Tuesday. The competition included girls from 22 states who had previously earned the right to advance to the world finals by winning the 8-10-year-old queen title in their respective state contests. Miss McCorory had been crowned twirling queen of Indiana at the state contest held last May in Muncie. At that time she was also named Indiana state twirling champion, state military strutting champion in her age group. She has been twirling since she was seven -and hars been a mascotfor the Berne high school band for the past three years. Reckless Driving Charged Motorist 1 Warren DeMond, 26, of 126% S. Second St., was arrested for reckless driving by deputy sheriff Harold August Friday evening. DeMond wais charged with reckles driving when he turned in front of an oncoming auto at the intersection of Monroe and 13th streets about 10 o’clock Friday evening. He was cited to appear in Justice of the Peace court Tuesday.

I am the happiest.” Three Appear In City Court Today Peter Ifer, 52-year-old resident of route 1, Poneto, paid a fine of $lO and costs, amounting to S2O in city court this morning. Ifer was arrested by deputy sheriff Harold August at the junction of the Monroe road and U. S. 27 at 11:45 p.m. Friday, and charged with public intoxication. Francis J. Schmitt, 69. who resides in a hotel in Decatur, appeared in court this morning also, but a charge of public intoxication against him was continued indefinitely. Schmitt was arrested in Decatur about 6 o’clock Friday evening, and the public intoxication charge was lodged against him. Charles S. Mnrbaugh. 19, of 210 S. Eighth St., appeared in court on a charge oi being a minor in possession of alcoholic beverages, but judgment in the case was withheld until a later date.
Teaching Internships For Two Students Connie Kiesis, 226 North Seventh, and Ronald Bittner. R.R. 2, Decatur, are among 132 Indiana Univtrsity students who begin teaching assignments this fall in junior and senior high schools throughout the Hoosier state. This is the first of four groups of I.U. students entering secondary schools for twomonth internships during the 196364 school year. Indiana University requires allday student teaching for an eight* week period. The student teacher, under the supervision of a qualified teacher, takes over full instruction of the class he is to direct. I.U. faculty members serve as area supervisors and regularly visit each student teacher in the classroom. Miss Kiess will teach language arts at Elmhurst high school, Fort Wayne, and Bittner, social studies at Bloomington high school. Former Executive Os General Motors Dies SEYMOUR, Ind. Homes Blacked Out By Wiring Defect INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) — A 1 wiring defect traced to a single telephone pole was blamed Friday for disrupting electrical power to about 2,000 homes and businesses. The shortage also knocked out automatic traffic signals and caused a number of traffic jams, police reported.

Two Arrested For Reckless Driving Two Decatur men were arested early this morning on reckless driving charges, and have been cited into Justice of the Peace court. Delmar Charles Orme, 21, of t 044% N. Second St., will appear iff J.P. court at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 29, while Ralph Charles McCullough. 25. also of Decatur, will appear at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30. The two were arrtsted by city police and sheriffs officers at 3:05 a.m. today in the 200 block of Second St., and both were charged with reckless driving.
