Locals Mrs. Fem M. Daniel, Jack Cavanagh, and Charles Herman, all of Geneva, have been admitted to the Jay county hospital, and James Trobridge has been dismissed. Mr. and Mrs. Deane T. Dorwin are spending ten days at Homer, Mich., visiting with Dorwin’s sisters. Miss Carole Mitch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Mitch of number 8, Homestead, and a student at Decatur liigh school, celebrated her 16th oirthday last Saturday. . Nasser Merwin returned to his home in Los Angeles, Thursday, after spending a few days with his grandmother, Mrs. O. L. Vance, and aunt, Mrs. Bertha Heuer. Glenn Woodin was admitted to the St. Joseph hospital in Fort Wayne, Sunday and underwent knee surgery the following day. His room number is 209. Henry Swygart, former owner of Swygart’s wrecking yard, and former candidate for sheriff of Adams County, has moved from his home on route 5, Decatur, to route 1, Chester S. C. 32 Merchants Had Displays At Fair Martin Watson, vocational agriculture instructor at Adams Central high school and chairman of the commercial display at the Adams county 4-H fair, reported today that 32 merchants had commercial displays at the fair. Twenty-two of these displays were in the commercial tent and the other ten were farm machinery displays which were shown on the grounds. \

Miss Beal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Beal, 949 Mercer, Decatur, is a graduate of Decatur Catholic where she was chairman of the mission committee, and junior arts delegate to summer school of Catholic action. Her major will be dietetics. Miss Sprunger is the daughter of, Vincent Sprunger, R. R. 2, Berne. While attending Geneva Wabash township school, she was affiliated with bowling and Y.F.C. clubs, end was secretary of her class. She plans to major in art. Only three other sheep were sold. The sales, listed in order of owner, purchaser, weight* price per pound and sale total were: David Singleton to Greenbelt Fertilizer, 95 lbs. at .33 for $31.95; Keith Fox, to Ernie’s Auction, 80 lbs. at .30 for $24; Richard Painter to Greenbelt Fertilizer, 65 pounds at .29 $24.35. This year’s sheep sale animals average 82 pounds, sold for an average of 29 cents a pound to bring an average of $24.35 each. Last year’s animals averaged 90 pounds and sold for an average of 24 6 cents per pound to bring an average of $22.10. Last year the grand champion 85-pound lamb, owned by Robert Field, sold for 60 cents a pound to bring $56. Swine Sale One of four grand champion swine owned by Patty Thieme brought too dollar in the swine sale. Weighin gin at 225 pounds, it brought one dollar per pound, just as did the grand champion steer, and was purchased bv the First State Bank of Decatur. The bank also purchased the sec ond pig of the evening, a 225oound entrant owned by Stephen Kershner, for 45 cents a pound, a sale which totaled out at $101.25. Last year the grand chamnion a 205-pounder owned by Marsha King, went for $1.20 ner pound to bring $246. The 1961 grand champion sold for $1,425 per pound, and weighed 225 pounds to bring $320. This year’s pigs average 197 pounds each and sold for an average of 33.5 cents per pound to bring $66 35. Last year the average was 201 nounds at .33.4 cents for $66.35. In 1961 it was even higher: 205 at 38.94 cents per pound for $80.16 per pig. Young Driver Cited On Speeding Charge A Berne youth has been cited into justice of the peace court in Berne, following his arrest Wednesday evening. Larry Lee Leistner, 19-year-old resident of 417 E. Main St., Berne, was arrested for speeding at 10:50 p.m., Wednesday. He was arrested on state road 124 by deputy sheriff Harold August who observed the youth leave the 4-H fail traveling at a high rate of speed. The arrest was made east of Monroe.
