Society. JUNIOR LAKE ' CLAIMS BRIDE IN MARION Miss Esther Jean Saunders and Junior W. Lake were joined in marriage at the 9th Street Methodist Church in Marion, Friday, July 26. The Rev. C.A. Wolfert read the sacred vows. Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a blue flowered chiffon dress with white accessories. She carried a bouquet of red roses and carnations. The matron of honor was Mrs. Betty Kilgore of Marion, who selected a dress of pink crepe. She carried a bouquet of white roses. Mrs. Saunders, mother of the bride, appeared in a floral print sheer dress with a corsage of yellow roses. Herb Keene served as best man. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held for approximately 35 guests. The couple plan a wedding trip to Big Chapman Lake, near Warsaw. The new Mrs. Lake is "a graduatte of Hartford City high school and is employed as a bookkeeper at Liberty Loan, Inc. Lake is a graduate of Decatur high school and is employed as an inspector at General Electric. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Saunders, 812 Walnut street, Hartford City, and Mrs. Fonda Lake, 345 Winchester street, Decatur, and the late Loren Lake. Miss Lorraine Audrey Schneck, ' daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schneck, St. Joseph, Mich., and Karl August Neuman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Neuman were joined in holy wedlock, July 20, at the Trinity Lutheran church in St. Joseph, Mich. The Rev. M J. Zschoche read the vows. The church was bedecked with white mums and gladioluses and numerous candle arrangements. BUFFET SUPPER AT UNDERWOOD’S The officers and executive committed of the W. S. C. S. of the Methodist Church enjoyed a delicious buffet supper recently at the home of Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Underwood. Mrs. D. C. Shadv, president of the society, had charge of a discussion period following the supper. Many questions were brought before the group concerning the program for the coming year. Mrs. Underwood then gave an interesting talk that included instructions to each officer on her duties as an officer in the Womens Society of Christian Service. Assisting Mrs. Underwood in supper preparations were Mrs. Niland Ocsenrider, Mrs. Watson Maddox, Mrs. D. C. Shady, and Mre. Doyle Collier. white fugi mums and pompoms. The flower girl was Miss Roxanne Avery, Birch Run, Mich, and the ring bearer was James Schneck, Benton Harbor, Mich. Donald Chronister, Fort Wavne, served as best man with Allen Schneck, St. Joseph, Mich., Arvin Schneck, Benton Harbor, Mich., Laurence Ohst, Sodus, Mich., and Edward Brethold, Wheaton, 111., as ushers. For her daughter’s wedding. Mrs. Schneck selected a pastel flowered cotton lace dress with olive and beige accessories and a lavendar orchid corsage. Mrs. Neuman, mother of the groom, chose a pink lace dress with white accessories and a lavendar orchid corsage. Immediately following the ceremony a wedding dinner was held in the church social hall. Later in the evening a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Serving the guests were the Mesdames Gosseler, Keim, Koch, Gusse, and Thumb, St. Joseph, Mich., Ott and Radde, Stevensville, Mich., and the Misses Irene Greger, Ardath and Carolyn Ohst. \ Following a honeymoon to Hawaii and Seattle, Wash., the couole will make their home at 6812 Adams Center Road, Fort Wayne. The new Mrs. Neman is i graduate of Michigan Lutheran Seminary, and Concordia Teachers College and is employed as a teacher at the Bethleham Lutheran school, Fort Wayne. Neuman is a graduate of MadisonMarion consolidated school and Purdue Center and is employed as a grogress engineer at International Harvester. FLO-KAN girls enjoy picnic Members and counsellors of Flo. Kan Council of Pythian Sunshine Girls enjoyed a birthday party recently at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Ahr. This was the second in a series of parties to celebrate the birthday anniversaries of the members, .and this one was ip’hofior of those with birthdays in April, May, June, and August. Hot dogs and hamburgers were prepared on the outdoor grill and served with a pot luck supper at long tables set up in the yard. Ice cream and cake was the finishing touch. Several games were played after supper and prizes awarded the winners. Plans were made for an outing at Pretty lake August 13 at the summer cottage of Mrs. William Barbar, royal advisor of the council. TWO EXCHANGE SCOUTS VISIT DECATUR Two exchange Girls Scouts from French Antilles are visiting the Limberlost council and spent Sunday in Decatur entertained by three Senior Scout troons. The girls Josiane Jos from Martique and Regine Alexandre from French Guiana, spent the morning with troops 112 and 473. The troops escorted htigrsas letmo sdgsa corted the girls to mass at the St. Mary’s Catholic church before returning to the Girl Scout shelter house for a lunch and leisurely afternoon. Later in the afternoon the group motored to the home the the group motored to the home of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Girod, where they were joined by troop 212 for a swimming party. After a swim, snacks were served and the groups discussed similarities in scouting. “Joey” and “Reggie,” who had visited Camo McMillen, said that scouting in their country was more primintive with fewer facilities already set up. The group later split into two patrols with one group taking the guests on a hike to show them some of the trees thev planted as a conservation project while the remaining patrol put ’ the finishing touches on the evening meal. After dinner there was swimming until dark before viewing the movies taken of troop 312 while ramped out in Canada. STORK SHOWER FOR MRS SECAUR Monday evening, July 29, a stork shower was given in honor of Mrs. Nick Secaur at the Paul Strickler residence bv, Mrs Strickler and Mrs. Ted Fuller. The evening was spent plavintf "stork bingo.” Due to the fact that Mrs Secaur was unable to attend the gifts were opened by Nick Secaur. Refreshments were served to the following guests: the Mesdames William Maulton. Burl Sprunger, Ron Secaur. Kenneth Secaur DeWayne Steiner, Ken Watkins, Ralph Reef, *Roy Strickler, Huston Bever, Earl Geyer, Paul Hakes, and Nick Secaur and the hostesses. Kicked By Horse At Fair This Morning Jim Eiting, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Eiting, route 2, Decatur, was kicked in the leg by a horse this morning at the 4-H fair and taken to Adams county memorial hospital, where he was treated and released.

Slight Increase In Jobless Pay Claims INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) — Unemployment insurance claims in Indiana last week totaled 32,077 compared to 29,639 the week before. Director Lewis Nicolini of the Indiana Employment Security Division blamed the slight hike on continued temporary va c a ti'o n closings and inventories at a number of Hoosier firms. But he .noted the total was nearly 29 per cent below that for the same week last year when 44,957 claims were filed.
