Women of Moose Attend Executive Session The executive committee of the Women of the Moose attended the executive session meeting held at Wabash, Sunday. There were 10 chapters represented including the hostess chapter. Deputy grand regent Lojs Pollard of Michigan City conducted the meeting. Those attending from Decatur were the Mesdames Charles Haney, Herbert Fravel, Dean Baughman, and Dora Cook. Live and Learn Club Observes 40th Anniversary The Live and Learn Home Demonstration club celebratel its 40th anniversary, July 24. Nineteen members, two honorary members and four guests met at the Country Charm restaurant for a noon luncheon. ft Following the luncheon a short business session was held. Roll call was answered by telling of a most treasured souvenir. An honorary member, Mrs. Anna Railing, was the oldest member present. Corsages were given to the attending charter members. They were the Mesdames Edna Harden, Mae Stults, Madge Workinger, Iva Nidlinger, Marie Barkley, and the honorary member, Mns. Railing. In saluting the charter members the group sang “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.” Ruth Barkley then read two poems. The history of the club was read by Nellie Price.- Interesting facts that the charter members and past presidents remembered about the earlier days of the organization were given. The program closed with the group singing, “Silver Threads Among the Gold,” and “In the Good Ole Summertime.” Die August meeting will be a family party to be held at the home of Marie Barkley, August 27. A pot-luck supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. Each member is reminded to bring a 2 cent gft for an exchange. Dicuss Plans for Monroe Fair Days Die Ladies Auxiliary of the Monroe fire Department met recently at the home of Mrs. Martin Steiner. The meeting was brought to order with the business discussed concerning the Monroe fair days. Following the meeting, games were enjoyed by those attending. They were the Mesdames Vaughn Mattax, Wayne Hirschy, Leßoy Hoagland, Bob Baxter, Art Roudebush, Lee Parrish, Louis Steffen, Gene Hurst. Howard Habegger, and Enos Schrock. Winners of the games were awarded prizes. Delicous refreshments were served Mrs. Martin Steiner. The next meeting will be a picnic supper, August 24. The Merry Matrons Home Demonstration club will meet at noon Sunday, at the home of Mrs. Art Krueckeberg for a pot-luck picnic.- '* • ■ < * -' , - ■<. ' Bride Elect Is Honored At Shower Miss Alice Lautzenheiser, brideelect of Larry Chrisman, was honored with a miscellaneous shower, Sunday, July 28. The Ruth Circle of the Decatur E.U.B. church will meet at the home of Mrs. Lester Sautbine at 6 30 p.m. Thursday. Locals Mrs. Elmo Smith is reported resting comfortable following gall bladder surgery Saturday at Lutheran hospital, Fort Wayne. More than 200 small stones had swollen the bladder, and caused jaundice. Mrs. R. Earl Sheets, of Decatur, is a patient at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne, where she is recovering from surgery performed on her feet. She is in room 467. Harry Suman, route 6, Decatur, adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Suman, recently made an auto trip to Milwaukee, Ore. to see his brother, John Starfinger. This is the second time the brothers have met, the first'time being in 1928. Suman was accompanied by his three sons, John, Bluffton, and Gordon and Otho of Decatur. Paul Saurer was transferred from the Adams county memorial hospital to the St. Joseph hospital in Fort Wayne rather than hte Parkview as was reported yesterday. His room number is 423. Mrs. L. Gray Paddock and sons, Stephen and Geoffery, Fort Wayne; Mrs. L. V. Paddock, Portland; and Mrs. Dee Fryback, Decatur, recently returned from a week’s vacation in New York City and Phildelphia, Pa., where they visited many points of interest.

Hospital Amitted Master Paul Mendez. Dismissed Fred Thompson, Argillite, Ky.; Miss Debra Shafler, Mrs. Darrell Brodbeck, Decatur. Boy Slightly Hurt As Auto Hits Bike 13-year-old Decatur boy escaped la car-bicycle accident Monday evening with only cuts and bruises. Ronald Lough, 13, 839 Parkview drive, received a laceration to the right foot and bruises to the left knee, shoulder and elbow, in a mishap at 7:02 p.m. Monday, that occurred on Winchester St., just 100 feet south of the Five Points intersection. The youngster ride his bicycle into the path of a car driven by Edward Sell, 21, of Geneva. Sell was southbound on Winchester street when the boy rode his bicycle from the southeast and into the street, failing to stop as he entered the street. The youngster was treated at the scene of the accident by a local physician, and taken to his home. Sell was not held by investigating authorities. The bicycle suffered $lO damage, while the car was not damaged.

The First Bapist church, Rochester, was the scene of the marriage of Miss Linda Kay Barkman and Kenneth Wayne Fuller, Sun July 7, at 2:30 p.m. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Chloris R. Barkman, Rochester, and Mr. and Mns. Raymond F. Fuller, New Carlisle, O. In the double ring ceremony, amidst palms and candlelabra before an altar graced with garlands of similax and carnations, the couple pledged their nuptial vows before the Rev. Doyle Pavy 1 of the First Methodist church, North Manchester. Appropriate musical selections were presented by organist, Miss Ruth Ann Knechel of South Bend, and vocalist, Bentley Peters of Dayton, 0., as Miss Leona Fuller, sister of the groom, greeted the 360 guests. Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride was attired in a floor length gown of silk organza, styled with a scalloped portrait neckline outlined with lace appliques and sparkled by iridescent sequins and pearls. The sleeves were threequarter length and the basque waist led to a billowy skirt, encircled at mid half by lace appliques and which swept into a full chapel train. Her headpiece was a princess crown of iridescent sequins which held the bouffant trilevel French silk illusion veil and her jewelry included a cultured pearl drop necklace and matching earrings, gift of the bridegroom. The bride carried a cascade arrangement of stephanotis and ivy centered with two white cymbidium orchids. The bride’s attendants were attired in identical fashions of blue brocaded satin, styled with scooped necklines and short sleeves. The dresses featured fitted bodices and bouffant skirts enhanced by bustle trim. Crowns of iridescent sequins, accented by sweetheart roses, completed their ensemble. Their bouquets were cascades of white gladioli, red carnations, and ivy arranged on white lace fans. Flower girl and ringbearer were Linda Coplen and Chuck Barts of Rochester. The umbrella and ring pillow which they carried were of white satin with blue streamers. Guests were ushered to their seats by Robert Petenson of Rochester, uncle of the bride; David Brumbaugh of South Bend; Dale Wenger of Athens, Ohio; Allen Shockney of Tipton; and Richard Minglin of Rochester, cousin of the bride, as acolytes Gary Hasting and Darryl Dick of New Carlisle, Ohio, lighted candles for the occasion. The bride’s mother chose a dress of blue corded silk knit for her daughter’s wedding. A lavender and white floral rayon dress was worn by the bridegroom’s mother. Both wore white accessories and corsages of white cymbidium orchids. Following the ceremony, the couple was honored with a reception in the fellowship hall of the church. Reception personnel, included Mrs. Herbert Lathrop of Winamac; Miss Martha Coplen of Indianapolis; Mrs. Kline Blacketor, Mrs. Kermit Biddinger, and Misses Nancy Berkheiser, Kathryn Hiatt Nahcy Foley, Rosie Minglin, Randy Pfeiffer, Janet Finney, Susan Coplen, Katheen Coplen, and Mns. Donald Crabill of Rochester. Also assisting were Mrs. Owen Baum of Batavia, Ill.; Miss Patricia Coplen of Marion; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Conrad of Kempton. For going away the bride selected a green and brown floral ensemble with white accessories and wore a corsage of white cymbidium orchids. Following their trips to Niagara Falls and northern Michigan, Mr. and Mrs. Fuller are now residing at 266 Lehman Street, Berne, where Mrs. Fuller will teach kindergarten this fail. Her husband is associated with the Southern Wells county schools, and will instruct busniess education in Petrolem high school. Fuller formerly taught commerce in Pleasant Mills high school. Jobless Pay Claims Decrease In Area The Fort Wayne office of the Indiana employment security Division has reported that there were 57 claims for unemployment compensation during the week ending July 27. Three of these were claims and 54 were continued claims. Last week there were 77 claims —six new and four continued. One year ago there were only 48 claims. Nine of these were new claims and 39 were continued claims, 78 were continued claims, six were new claims for extended coverage and 44 were continued claims for extended coverage.

Indianapolis Boy Is Hit By Auto An Indianapolis boy visiting In Berne was struck by a car while riding his bicycle Monday afternoon, and was held for observation overnight at the Adams county memorial hospital. Kevin C. McGill, 11, who is visiting the Sherman Liechty family in Berne with his family, was struck by a car at 3:50 p. m.. when he rode his bicycle into the path of the auto on county road 33. one-tenth of a mile east of the Berne city limits. The youngster and another boy were riding their bicvcles along the road when a northbound car driven by Robert David Hfill. 38. route 3. Geneva, annroached them from the rear. Auction Faculty To Be Luncheon Guests The faculty of the Reppert school of auctioneering will be guests of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon Wednesday, W. Guy Brown, executive secretary for the Chamber, said today. the faculty will be guests of the Chamber at lunch at the 4-H fair grounds at Monroe Wednesday, as part of an entertainment for the faculty set up by the Chamber of. Driver Is Arrested Following Accident Larry Bittner, 23-year-old resident of route 2, Decatur, was arrested following a two-car accident Monday. The mishap occurred on a county road one ano one-half miles north of Preble, when Bittner’s auto sideswiped a car driven by Norman Scheurr.ann, 37, of Preble.
