SUNBEAM GARDEN CLUB " MEETS IN PETERSON The July meeting of the Sunbeam Garden club met recently at the home of Mrs. Eugene Sommer, with 17 members and three guests present. The president, Mrs. Walter Egley, opened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Walter Peck gave the lesson on organic gardening and Mrs. John Barger reported on the chapter entitled “Color Sets the Mood” from the book on flower arrangements that the club is studying. The roll call was answered by “my favorite rose.” The flower arrangements that were brought by Mrs. Ralph Ross, Sr., and Mrs. Milton Hoffman were then studied by the group. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting will be held August 20 at the home of Mrs. Glen Barger, with each member bringing an arrangement of their snapdragons. Mrs. Fred Ault, of Bluffton, Will give the lesson on floral arranging. ruth circle MEETS AT SHEETS HOME The Ruth Circle of the Decatur E. U. B. church met recently at the home of Mrs. Carl Sheets. Opening devotiions were presented by Mrs. Fuhrman Miller, followed by the business meeting. The lesson entitled, “One in Christ.” an outline of the responsibilities of the local church, was given by Miss Luella Werst. The lesson was closed with offering and a dedication prayer. The August meeting will be a carry-in picnic at the home of Mrs. Lester Sautbine. Delivious refreshments were then served by the hostess Mrs. Sheets, to the seven members and three guests present. The Live and Learn Home Demonstration club will meet at the Country Charm resturant, Wednesday at 12:30 p.rti. The Monroe W.C.T.U. will meet Thursday- at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Otto Longenberger. The Women of the Mpose will meet at the Hoose home, Thursday at 8 p.m. The Nu-U club will meet at 1322 West Monroe Street, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Decatur Student On Distinguished List LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Fifty-five students from three of Purdue’s extension centers attained the distinguished rating in their work for the second semester of the 1962-63 academic year, according to the university registrar’s office. The Indianapolis, Calumet and Fort Wayne centers are the three university extensions having students who had an index of 5.5 out of a possible 6 points. To bd eligible for the distinguished rating a student must also carry at least 14 hours during the semester. The distinguished students include Roger R, Harris, 316 North Third St., Decatur, and Marvin Lee Jacobs, Monroeville. Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride, appeared in a princess gown of silk organza over taffeta. The sculptured bodice was styled with a scoop neckline enhanced with re-embroidered alencon lace and jeweled with crystal beads. The sleeves were long and tapering. A spray of jeweled lace applique accented the front of the bouffant skirt that swept into a bowed carriage bustle and fell into a chapel-length train. The bride carried a bouquet of apricot roses and wore a crown of pearls, tiny flowerettes and crystals that held in place her illusion veil. The maid of honor, Miss Anne Moser, sister of the bride, selected an apricot colored streetlength sheath dress of sheer satin over taffeta. The headdress consisted of a cabbage rose of the matching fabric. Miss Moser carried a bouquet of white gladioluses. The bridesmaid was Mrs. Robert Bowen, who was dressed identical to t h e honor attendant, The junior bridesmaid was Miss Jayne Moser, who wore a full skirted dress, also apricot in color. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Moser chose a powder blue linen dress with white accessories and a corsage of apricot roses. Mrs. Bowen, mother of the groom selected a blue print white background dress with white accessories and a corsage of apricot roses. Frank Bowen served as his brother’s best man with Jim Beldon, Steve Stevick, Phil Gage and Larry Davis seating the guests. Steve Bowen served as acolyte. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for approximately 200 guests was held in the church basement. The apricot trimmed white wedding cake was centered on a table flanked with white gladioluses and apricot candles. The Misses Beth Ann Seldom Linda Dilts; Janice Heller, Margaret Campbell and Rita Agler served the guests. For a wedding trip on announced destination, the new Mrs. Bowen selected a white arnel dress with multi-colored jacket and a corsage from her bridal bouquet. The bride is a graduate of Crestview high school and is employed at Lincoln Life Insurance company. Bowen is a graduate of Wren high school and is serving with the U. S. Navy. a♦ ■ I Locals Master Duane Scott of Portland spent the past week visiting with his grandmother and other relatives. Delwyn Scott of Portland is spending this week with his aunt, Mrs. G. D. Kauffman and family. Richard Andrews, of 321 Master Drive, is a patient in the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miller had as their guests Friday Miss Etta Rowell, Mrs. Elsie Allwine and Mrs. Edith Huddston, all of Washington, D. C. " Shirley Decker, route 4, Bluffton, was.admitted Friday to Wells county hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Garard and daughter, Mrs. Burton Louth and children, Debby Jo and Ricky, motored to Cleveland and Warren, 0., Saturday. They visited with Charlie Mumma, who was taken to the Crile veterans hospital at Cleveland a week ago, when his condition became critical. Mr. Mumma, who is one of the few living Spanish American war vets from this county, fractured both his hips a few years ago, and he has been in failing health since then. Mrs. Louth and children will visit relatives in Warren for a week or two before returning to their home in Fort Wayne.
