Local Witnesses Attend Convention The Decatur delegation of Jehovah’s Witnesses completed their role as delegates last Sunday, July 7, when the group's “everlasting good news” assembly closed at the county snadium in Milwaukee, Wis. According to Clyde D. Steele, local presiding minister, the assembly attracted delegates from 49 states and 15 other countries. Peak attendance Tcached 57,055 Sunday, when N. H. Knorr, president of the Watchtower Bible and Tract society, delivered a special public Bible talk on the subject, - “When God Is King over All the Earth.” According to Steele. Knorr said "farsighted statesmen of the world, military experts and specialists on economics are continually warning us that there is disastrous trouble ahead for mankind, but they do not tell us what the real cause of it will be. The real cause is that men do not desire to turn the sovereignty of the earth over to God.” In addition to Knorr’s climaxing talk, other highlights of the gathering were a mass baptism and a release of several new publieations. The Winesses baptized 905 new ministers last Friday morning at Milwaukee. The mass immersion ceremony took 90 minutes and 50 bantizers to accomplish, Steele said. The onening day of the assembly was highlighted by the release, in one volume, of the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. This is a modern-speech Bible complete with footnotes and marginal references. On Wednesday, society president Knorr presented the New Testament only of this translation in six languages, Dutch, French, German. Portuguese. Spanish and Italian. The Thursday release was a book of 352 paces entitled. “All Scripture Is Inspired of God and Beneficial." This was described as a complete historv and content summary of each of the 66 books of the Bible. v If you have something to sell on trade — use the Democrat Want ads — they get BIG results.
