Claypool. Ind., suffered an estimated S2OO damage when hit by a trtSCk at the intersection of Monroe and Second streets at 8:30 a.m. today. The semi-truck, driven by James dJupree, 43, Jersey City, N.J., was headed east on Monroe street and had stopped in the center lane to allow more room for a right turn onto Second St. The truck’s turn signals were onriFv’tte time. Ausley failed to see the signal and pulled into the right turning lane, and the right front .wheels of the truck crashed into'~the left fender of. the auto. The truck was not damaged. BerneFrench Team First In Contest The Berne-French dairy judging team placed first in the junior judging contest Saturday, at the state Guernsey field day. The group i scored 561 of a possible 600 points in the contest, in which 32 teams and 138 boys participated Each team member received a large trophy. From a possible 200 points the scores of the individual team members were: Dean Beer, 195; Richard Ycxjer, 189; David Brooks. 177: Kinsey Brooks, 168. The event was staged at Normandy Farms, southwest of Indianapolis. FFA advisor Doyl Lehman accompanied the Berne-French group. ■

Locals Borris Pingry, well known Decatur barber, started his bartering career 40 years ago Monday at Lose’s barber shop. He now operates his own shop at 508 North’loth street. Don Lutes was transferred from the Adams county memorial hospital to the St. Joseph hospital in Fort Wayne for surgery on a blood clot in his leg. Ervin Gerber of route 4, Bluffton, was admitted Saturday to Bluffton Clinic hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jan Elzey flew to Chicago, 111. Friday afternoon where they were met at O’Hara Field by Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Light and Juliann of Mendota, 111,, and formerly of Decatur. They traveled to the Wisconsin Dells and other points of interest along the way. They returned to Decatur. Sunday with the Lights, who will spend two weeks here visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Leonardson on an antique buying trip in Europe, send their greetings to the people of this area and report having an enjoyable time sightseeing as well as buying. They are presently in Sweeten but have just completed a tour of Ireland. While in Dublin they encountered a severe storm that caused much damage in the city but reported suffering no personal injury- They crossed the country by train and bus on special guided tours before returning to London for a weekend of antique buying and then going on to Sweden, the native country of Mr. Leonardson. Two Are Uninjured In Traffic Crash Mrs. Deana Miller, - 19. of route 4. Bluffton, was uninjured when the auto which she was driving struck a state highway dump truck on state road 316 Saturday morning. Ralph W. Heller, 30, of Bluffton, driver of the truck, was also uninjured. About S9OO damage was done to the auto. Arden Lambert, president of Midwestern Pools, Dayton, Ohio, spoke briefly, then concluded by saying that his firm would take SI,OOO off the price of constructing the pool as a gift to the communityPine Lake Open To Public On Holiday Glen Scholer, manager of Pine lake, three and one-half miles west of Berne on state road 118, has announced the pool facilities will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. This includes the pool, sunbathing area, tennis courts, basketball court and picnic grounds. Other mornings are taken by the Adams Central school for group swimming lessons Scholer also invited children with their sand buckets to play and participate to spreading the mountain of Michigan white sand onto- the beach. Fifty tons of the sand was delivered Friday.
