initiation ceremony at the home of Mrs. C, E. Bell, last Tuesday afternoon. New members included in the sorority are Cynthia Gable, Alice Lankenau, Melissa Mayclin, and Gloria Nelson Wall. Preceding the ceremony approximately 75 members attended a tea in honor of the occasion. Pink and white Were the predominant colors of the lovely tea table. Refreshing pink punch and home made cookies were enjoyed by the members. Bouquets of spring flowers added charm to the event. Mrs. Dan Tyndall was the soloist for the ceremony. .A quartet composed of the Mesdames Simeon Hain, Harold August, Gerry Hilty and William Brown also sang. Hostesses for the afternoon were the Mesdames C. E- Bell, Lowell Harper, Guy Brown, Lloyd Cowens, Milton Swearingen, Watson Maddox, Fred Smith, and Dorothy Schnepf. The initiation dinner and program was held at the Community Center Tuesday evening with 42 members in attendance. Guests for the event were Alpha Sigma’s patronesses, Mrs. John Tyndall and Mrs. C. E- Bell. The tables were chamingly decorated with white carnation topiary trees, large golden Tri Kappa keys and black name cards with white carnations. After the meal, chapter president, Mrs. Robert Boch, introduced Mrs. Charles Gable, who welcomed the new initiates. Miss Cynthia Gable responded for the new members. The new officers for the coming year were introduced group. They are, president, Mrs. John Brecht; vice president, Mrs. Simeon Hain; recording secretary, Catherine Loshe; treasurer, Mrs. Leo Seltenright; and corresponding secretary, Mrs. Roger Schuster. Dorothy Schnepf, associate chapter president, also welcomed the group and thanked the committee for a lovely afternoon. Mrs. Jack Petrie presented Mrs. Boch with, a past president’s pin in appreciation of her two years in office. Mrs- Lowell Harper then spoke to the group on the subject of accomplishments and objects of Tri Kappa. At the close of the evening the new members presnted a skit entitled “Little Nell.” Committee members for the event were the Mesdames Clark Maye-

Hostesses were the Mesdames Paul Hammond, Harold August, and William Brown. 1 SERVE AT DINNER AND RECEPTION At the Bierly golden wedding dinner at the C. L. of C. hall Sunday, the guests were served by Mrs. Warren Kneuss, Mrs. Cornelius Geimer, Miss Rosemary Gase, Miss Judy Tutewiler, Miss Mary Catherine Spangler and Miss Rosemary Spangler. During the reception in the afternoon, Miss Rosemary Gase and Miss Judy Tutewiler were in charge of the guest registration table and the others named above served the guests. VFW AUXILIARY NAMES DELEGATES The Ladies Auxiliary of the V F.W. met recently at the V.F.W. Home with 11 members present. The election of delegates to the national convention at Seattle, Wash., was held. The delegates elected were Glenys Martz, Catherine Birch, and Mary Grant, with Hazel McDonald, Jean Reidenbush and Lucile Bodie as alternates. Plans were then made for the ice cream social to be held July 18. Any member wishing to donate to the social is asked to call Mrs, William Grant at 3-2661. At the close of the meeting Margaret Roudenbush served refreshments. The next meeting will be held July 15. This will be a social meeting.

Auxiliary, D.A.V. Home, 7:30 p.m. WHITE RIBBON SERVICE HELD AT METHODIST CHURCH The Monroe W.C.T.U. white ribbon service was held recently in the fellowship hall of the Methodist church. A piano prelude by Mrs. Homer Winteregg opened the service. The group then sang “tseautiful Words of Life.” Mrs. Merdinan Martz led the devotions and read an article entitled, “Home.” A piano solo was given by Miss Karen Fructhe followed by a poem entitled, "A Charge to the Parents” given by Mrs Jack Mcßride. Mrs. Dorthea Shady was in charge of presenting and tying on the white ribbons and was assisted by Mrs. D. Passwater. The ladies voted to give a donation to the Bible school. Prayer was given by Mrs. D. Passwater before the group sang “I’ll be a Sunbeam.” Dismissal prayer was given by Mrs. Martz. Each child present received a child’s prayer book. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Robert Gage and Mrs. John Gage. RECEPTION AT YOUTH CENTER FOR SUNSHINE GIRLS A reception for two grand officers of the Pythian Sunshine Girls was held Sunday, June 23, at the Community Center. The girls were Donna Corey, grand royal princess, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Corey of Mix avenue, and Beth Ann Snyder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Snyder, North Seventh Street, who is the grand royal exchequer. They will hold these offices until April 12, 1964, at which time the grand council will be held in Decatur. The large room at the center was beautifully decorated with large Sunshine Girls emblems in gold on the center of the stage and was blanked by baskets of flowers. The decorating committee consisted of Harriett Pollock, Diane Durbin, Linda Bell, Beth Ann Bookhardt and Debbie Snyder. The serving table was set with white lace and centered with a three-tiered cake bearing the girl’s names in gold The cake was baked and decorated by Edith Walters. Green napkins bearing the Girl’s names in gold graced the serving table. Those assisting .with the serving were Evelyn Plasterer, Connie Call, Vicky Eichhorn, Linda Affolder, and Edith Walters. Another large table held the gifts. Serving on the entertainment committee were Faye Ahr, Linda Fulton, Charlsie Clark, Esther Feasel and Helen Walters. The Church of God was the scene of a double ring wedding ceremony June 2? at 6 p.m. The Rev. Huston Bever read the vows to join in marriage Miss Judy Jean Irwin and Benjamin James Colter. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Irwin, route 2, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Colter, 253 program several skits were presented by attending councils. The molded bodke of satin featured tiny satin bows -a scoop necklineand elbow length full sleeves. Her bridal bouquet consisted of a purple orchid and streamers atop a white Bible. The shoulder length veil of French illusion was caught to a crown of seed pearls. For her sister's wedding the Matron of honor, Mrs. John Speakman, chose a gowp of aqua silk organza. The fitted bodice was styled with a drape and cowl neckline. A satih band fashioned the hipline with a billowy wide hemmed street length skirt. The headdress was a matching aqua picture hat. Mrs. Speakman carried' a bouquet of white and aqua asters. Miss Julie Ann Speakman, niece of the bride. was the flowergirl and appeared in a full skirted dress of white silk organza. The bodice was embroidered with tiny flowers. She carried a basket of white and aqua daisies and baby asters. The rihgbearer was Master Byran Hess, cousin of the groom. For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Irwin chose a white sheath dress with a navy overblouse and white accessories. The groom’s mother. Mrs. Colfer, selected a powder blue dress with white accessories. A corsage of red roses completed their outfits. Merlin Johnson, uncle of the groom, stood as best man, with John Speakman and Rusty Whetstone seating the guests; Immediately following the ceremony a reception for approximately 150 guests was held in the fellowship hall. Those serving at the reception included the Misses Connie and Vickie Clifton, Marie Kaehr, and the Mesdames Ron Mefford, Gerry Hilty, Robert Ehrman and Merlin Johnson.
