Cardinals Beal Adams Central In Pony League A six-run fourth inning poivered the Decatur Cardinals to an 11-8 win over Adams Central, in an Adams county Pony League game played Thursday evening at the Monroe diamond. The win boosts the Cardinals record to 3-4 for the season, and knocked Adams Central out of sole possession of first place in ' the league. The Monroe nine has now won three of five. Adams Central scored three times in the initial inning on an error, a walk, and singles by Green and R. Ellenberger. The Cards scored once in the second frame and added another tally in the third. iThe. Monroe club boosted its lead to 5-2 with two tallies in the third, but the Cards erupted for six runs in fourth to take an 8-5 lead which they never lost. With one out, Rick Bullinger and Rich Caciano singled and Dave Baughn walked. Doug Halberstadt and Greg Litchfield reached base on errors, and Tom Lose rapped out a single and Gary Busse a double. Adams Central scored once in the fourth and once in the sixth, to a Cardinal run in the fifth, to cut the lead to 9-6, but the Cards scored twice in the seventh to ice the verdict. Adams Central rallied in the seventh, but could score only once. He plays center for the New York Knickerbockers in the “off-season.”

Junior Golf Tourney To Name Entries To State Jaycee Meet
Plans for a junior golf tournament, to be held at the Decatur Golf course-,-sponsored by the Decatur Junior Chamber of Commerce, were announced today by president Fred Shoaff. The officers and directors of the Jaycees voted at a recent meeting to send two young Decatur golfers to the state Junior Chamber of Commerce tournament at Goshen, Wednesday, July 24, through Friday, July 26. A tournament open to all boys who are 12 years of age before August 31, and not over 18 years of age by the same date, will be held at the local golf course to determine the two Decatur representatives to be sponsored by the Jaycees in the state meet. chairman of the Jaycee project, and has set up dates for the tournament with Luke Majorki, owner and manager of the Decatur course. Quality July 1-6 •The , 18-hole qualifying rounds will be held beginning Monday, July 1, and running through the final day Saturday, July 6. Any boy wishing to enter the tournament; and who qualifies under the age rules, should sign up at the local club, and shoot his qualifying round the week of July 1 to 6. The top 12 qualifers will compete against each other in an 18-hole affair, with the medalist and runner-up to win the trip to Goshen and the state Jaycee meet. No Handicap Tourney will be on a no handicap basis, and under PGA rules. It Will be played in only one division, open. There will be no novice division Trophies will be donated by Majorki, and presented to the winner and runner-up. The local Jaycee organization will cover all expenses incurred by the two boys during the three-day affair. The boys will leave a day previous to the tournament’s opening round, in ■ order to give them’ aft oportunity to play a round or two on the Goshen course. They will return the day the state tourney concludes. They will be driven and accompanied during the three days by Nash, the project chairman. Winners Are Listed In Wildcat League The Schaffners and Soldners were winners in Northwest Kitty league play Wednesday, and'‘the Orioles and Reds were victors in’ Tiger action. Schaffners defeated Steiners, 7-5| with Huss of the Steiners hitting a home run, and the Soldners downed Hammonds, 5-3, with Razo homering. Indians Given First Loss In Lillie League The White Sox snapped the Indians’ unbeaten string and the Tigers rolled up 20 runs as Alan Hutker threw a four-inning no-hit-ter, to feature a Little League twin bill at Worthman Field Thursday evening. The Sox snapped thd Indians unbeaten string at six with an 8-2 win behind the two-hit pitching of Rick Archer, to move into a first place tie with the Indians. In the nightcap, the Tigers pounded out 14 hits and walloped the Red Sox, 20-0, as Alan Hutker threw a fourinning no-hitter. After allowing singles by Mike Schnepf and Alan Bpd well, good for two Indian runs in the first inning, Archer settled down and did’t allow the previously unbeaten Indians a hit over the last five innings. The lefty struck out six and walked only three Schnef, the losing hurler, allowing the Sox only fivfe hits but they used them to good advantage. Schultz Hits Fourth Big Tom Schultz cracked his fourth- home run leading off the second inning and a single by Archer and an error gave the Sox their second run to tie the score at 2-2. A walk to Dave Tester, Dave Winteregg’s single, an error, a double by Archer and a double by Ron Archer produced four more White Sox runs in the third and they were in front to stay. The winners added their final two runs in the fifth inning without the benefit of a hit. Both teams now have identical records of 6-1 to top the standings. Dave Jackson celebrated his* return to the Tiger lineup in the nightcap by rapping out three hits ni four trips, and Gary Williams, Hutker, Tim Bolinger and Jim Laurent connected for two hits

Ken Gause and Tom Hullinger were the only Red Sox runners, but received walks. Although the contest did not go a full six innings, it was still listed as a no-hitter, the first in the Ideal Little League this season. The 20 Tiger runs were also a high for the year, breaking the 18, set by the Red Sox Wednesday night. Williams had a ’double in his two hits, while Hutker had a pair of two-base blows and Laurent One.
