The Zion Lutheran church, Portland, was the scene of a double ring wedding ceremony performed by the Rev. Richard Kraus, Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Repeating the sacred vows were Miss Judith Kay Fosnaugh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Fosnaugh, route 2, Berne, and Gary M. Rice, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rice, route 4, Portland. The altar was decorated with palms, yellow carnations and seven brnach candelabra for the candle-light ceremony. Thomas Hunt provided the organ music while Gary Usworth, vocalist, sang “O Perfect Love,” ‘‘The Lord’s Prayer,” “O Promise Me,” and “The Wedding Prayer.” Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a gown of sheer organdy. The fitted bodice featured a scoop neckline, high lighted with swiss applique and jeweled with sequins and seed pearls. The sleeves were long and tapering. Swiss applique enhanced the full bouffant skirt which draped gracefully into a cathedral train that was topped with organdy roses and held to a butterfuly bow. The bride carried a cascade arangement of yellow roses and white stephonitis. Her veil of French illusion was caught to a wreath of organdy petals, jeweled with sequins. For her sister’s wedding, the maid of honor, Miss Jane Fosnaugh selected a floor-length gown

of forest green satin featuring a scoop nickline, long tapering sleeves, and a brush train. Her illusion veil was caught to a cabbage rose of the matching fabric. Bridesmaids Miss Sally Schisler, Genvea, and Miss Linda Heller, Avilla, were dressed identical to the honor attendant with the exception that Miss Schisler’s dress was gold in color, and Miss Heller’s was a rich brown. The flower girls, Vickie aud Jill Fosnaugh, sisters of the bride, wore floorlength dresses of eggshell taffeta featuring long tapering sleeves and scoop necklines. They carried baskets of rose petals. The ring bearer was James Fosnaugh, the bride’s brother. Danny Thomas, Geneva, and Max Landon, Portland, served as acolytes. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Fosnaugh chose a two-piece beige lace over taffeta ensemble with beige accessories and a corsage of yellow carnations. Mrs. Rice, the groom’s mother, selected a tan three-piece linen suit with beige accessories and a corsage of yellow carnations. FRIENDS, SCHOOLMATES MEET AT SHRINER LAKE Mr. and Mrs. Walter Swoverland entertained at their summer home on Shriner Lake near Columbia City, Sunday, with an old fashioned get-together of oH friends and school mates of Mrs. Swoverland. Mrs. Swoverlapd is the former Vivian Jahn, of Kirkland township. The couple have two children, Dick of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. ‘ Robert Dillion of Ann Arbor, Mich., and six grandchildren. A delicious pot luck dinner was served at noon followed by an afternoon of reminising, picture taking and renewing old acquaintances. SURPRISE PARTY FOR OSCAR SPRAGUE Sunday evening, friends and relatives called at the home of Oscar Sprague to pleasantly surprise him and wish him a happy 75th birthday. The group later gathered on the lawn of Mr. and Mrs. John Kiess where refreshments of home made ice cream, cake, pie, coffee and soft drinks were served. ATTEND CONVENTION OF WOMEN OF MOOSE Mrs. Herbert Fravel and Mrs. Evelyn Kingsley have returned from Chicago where they were delegates of the local chapter of the Women of the Moose to the international convention that was held in that city the week of June 16. 7500 members representing the United States and Canada were present. The Moose has now reached an all-time high of 1,000.000 members and the Women of the Moose number 893,000. Famed T.V. star Danny Thomas made several appearances during the week. Highlights of the convention was the dedication of a new $600,000 field house at Mooseheart, the city for dependent children of members. Mooseheart is located near Aurora, 111. A check for $250,000 was presented to the Moose so ra new building at Moosehaven, the home for aged members which is located at Orange Park, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Feasel recently entertained in honor of the eighth birthday of their youngest daughter, Susan. A swimming party followed by a hamburger fry was enjoyed by the group. Later in the evening, after games were played and the presents opened, cake and ice cream were served to the folowing guests: Julie Gehrig, Jackie Bauserman, Becky Goldner, Anne Helm, Kathleen Griegel, and Vicky, Tim and Jeff Feasel, sister and brothers of the honored guest. Rice is a graduate of Portland high school, attended Ball State Teachers College and is employed in Dunkirk at the Armstrong Cork company. v

Mr. and Mrs. Bernhard Schultz, 512 N. sth St., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 30. Mr. and Mrs. Schultz were married in Elmira, Ontario, Canada, July 2, 1913 by the Rev. Paul Graupner. Mrs. Schultz is the former Florence Ruppel of Elmira, Ontario, Canada. They have lived in Decatur for six years since Schultz’ retirement as a parochial school teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Schultz are the parents of two sons, Gerhard of Decatur and Elmer of Marion, Ohio, and two daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Gertrude) Friedline of Pendleton and Mrs. Wilbur (Florence) Blakey of R. R. 3. They have eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Open., house tor their relatives, and friends will be observed Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Zion parish hall. Mr. and Mrs. Schultz have requested that gifts be omitted.

—Society LOCAL TWIRLERS AT CONTEST Several local twirlers entered a N. B. T. A. contest at Redkey, Friday. Connie Durr received a fourth piace medallion in 11-year-old beginners solo. Rose Tonner also placed fourth in the! 12-year-old group. In the 13-year-old division, Diane Dennison placed third and Marlene Stucky placed fifth.
