.'.ulHi ‘ Three Jackets Are Named On All-NEIC Team Pitcher Denny Cookson,' catcher Greg Ladd and frust baseman Tom Maddox were named today to the 1963 .Northeastern Indianh .-conference all-star baseball squad. The three members of the cochampion Decatur Yellow-Jacket team were all first-team selections, while outfielder Bob Ladd was named to the second squad. Angola, who shared the conference title this past spring with Decatur, also placed three players on the first squad, pitcher £ric Hall and catcher Mike Sapp, and outfielder Ross Butler. Other first team selections were infielders Mike Hey of Columbia City, Dick McLeish of Concordia and Brent Circle of New Haven, outfielder Steve Hurtt of Cfiumbia City. Four infielders, three two pitchers and two catchers were named to the First team* dominated by the co-champs Decatur and Angola. The same number were named to the second team and honorable mention went nine other players. Cookson 6-1 Cookson, the junior fireballer, posted one of the best records in the history of Decatur high school this past season, winning nine and losing only once. Cookson’s NEIC mark was 6-1, as he was involved in each conference decision for the Decatur club. In 72% innings. Cookson allowed only 27 runs and 33 hits, striking out 52 and walking only 14. Greg Ladd was coach Bill McColly’s second leading hitter this past spring, posting a 2.70 mark in 16 games, 12 of which were won by Decatur. His 13 hits was also second-best on the club. Maddox finished with a mark of 2.15, but produced many clutch hits in the team's seven conference affairs. He was tied for
