The main portion of the shortage alleged by the field examiners occurred in the maintenance, clothing and earnings fund but some shortages also were shown in the canteen and patients recreation funds. Mrs. Place signed a statement which was attached to the report
in which she admitted there was a shortage of S9OO in her accounts "because of cashing a check, a portion of which was used personally." Staff Sgt. Jack Tricker, 23, native of Deactur, was killed in an army bomber crash nead Rapid City, S. D. The Adams county draft board has received orders to send a contingent of men for army physical examinations June 11. Appointees to the Adams county board of tax review by Judge J. Fred Fruchte are Miss Matilda Sellemeyer and Homer D. Lower. Rev. Paul W. Schultz, pastor of the Zion Lutheran church, spoke at baccalaureate services of the Decatur high school.

Legion Convention To Miami Beach INDIANAPOLIS (UPD—Miami Beach, Fla., was chosen late Thursday as the 1963 national convention city for the American Legion. Selection of the resort city was announced by National Commander James Powers. Macon, Ga., after New Orleans withdrew in a controversy over accommodations for Negro delegates. Indianapolis, headquarters city of the legion since its founding, had hoped to get the convention for the first time in history. Powers said he had conferred with Miami Beach officials, to whom big conventions are traditional, and they had provided “satisfactory assurances of adequate housing facilities” for delegates Sept. 6-12. The convention was held hi Miami in 1960.

4-H Beef Club Tour Tuesday Afternoon 4-H beef club members will hold their annual tour Tuesday, starting at 2 p.m., according to Leo N. Seltenright, county extension agent. The tour will start at the Tom Adler farm one mile north and one and a quarter miles west of Monroe. 4-H members Verna and Raymond Adler have Hereford calves. Ken MacDonald, extension animal scientist, will be the discussion leader for the tour stops. The second stop is at Robert Isch’s on the L. M. Busche farm, east of Monroe. Patti Isch has a Hereford and an Angus. The third Stop will be at the Robert Bookout farm, southeast of Decatur on road 33 at 3:30 p.m. 4-H members John, Jim, Beth and Joyce have seven steers including Hereford, Shorthorn and Angus. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
