Davis had been working for a soft drink company out of Cleveland until two days ago and said he felt well. He checked in at the Cleveland Browns’ office Thursday morning and told Art Modell, club president, that he was going into the hospital for several days. Dr. Austin Weisberger, who had been treating Davis since the . disease was discovered last July, said Davis died without discomfort. Drugs administered to Davis had brought about a complete remission in the disease last fall, but there was a flareup early this year. Burial will be at Elmira, N. Y., Davis’ home town, early next : week. ; Davis probably was the most heradled football player ever to . come out of college. He was the first Negro winner of the coveted j Heisman Trophy and was signed ‘ by the Browns in January, 1962. Freckle-faced 13-year-old Gregory Phillips skyrockets to stardom in “I Could Go on Singing,” the Judy Garland Technicolor production showing Sunday at the Decatur Drive-in theater. In the picture he is cast as Miss Garland's son, and Dick Bogarde playe the father. This is Miss Garland's first picture since “A Star is Born” and in it she sings many of the songs she made popular. The co-feature is “World In My Pocket” starring Rod Steiger, which tells the story of a million-dollar robbery.

Report Increase in Venereal Diseases INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) — State Health Commissioner Dr. Andrew C. Offutt said today his office has expanded its program of “education, information and investiagtion” of veneral disease in view of an increase in the number of cases. Offutt said the Indiana State Board of Health received reports of 465 cases of venereal disease in three selected months of 1962 and a national survey of Indiana physicians reported 5,041 cases during the same period.
