PROFIT AND PLEASURE CLUB HOLDS MEETING The Profit and Pleasure home demonstration club met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Roy Stucky. The meeting opened by the members repeating the club creed and singing the song of the month “Down in the Valley.” Mrs. Stucky gave the devotions for the evening. Roll call was answered by 14 members and six guests. Mrs. Leaders, home demonstration agent, gave the lesson on “Herbs for Cooking and Growing

BRIDAL SHOWER HONORS MISS VIRGINIA ROEHM Miss Virginia Roehm, May 18 bride-elect of Jerry Haugh, was honored with a miscellenous shower Friday evening at the home of Mrs. John Gribler of Willshire, Ohio. Upon arival the bride to be was presented with a corsage of white carnations, with blue ribbon, by the hostess, Mrs. John Gribler. Blue and white streamers with bells decorated the dining room table. The buffet was decorated with five Barbie dolls, one dressed in a bridal gown of white satin, and the other four dressed in light blue gowns. They stood under blue and white streamers which were attached to a bell on the wall. Games were played and prizes were won by Mrs. Ed. Haugh, Mrs. Lee Agler, Miss Frieda Roehm, and Miss Martha Goodwin. Refreshments of ice cream, cookies, coffee, punch, nuts, and mints were served the following guesst: Mesdames George Roehm, Ed. Haugh, Ernest Gribler Bob Kiser, Lee Agelar, Morrice Agler, Ed. Gribler, Leroy Krischer, Dick Mankin, Lloyd Bradimuller, Misses Martha Goodwin, Frieda Roehm, Lucille Roehm, Stacie Kiser, Sharion Mankin and honored guest. Invited guests unable to attend but sending gifts were: Mesdames Bob Richey, Bud Githins, Mike Biro, Misses Mary Helen Allmandinger, and Marlene Schinnerer. TO ENTERTAIN SENIOR GIRLS AND MOTHERS The Rosary society of St. Mary’s Catholic church will hold the regular monthly meeting Monday evening at 8 o’clock at the Knights of Columbus hall. ■Hie senior girls of the Decatur Catholic high school and their mothers will be the guests. The society would like for all mothers of the graduating class of girls to be present. A representative from Lutes’ florist will be present to give a demonstration on proper floral arrangements for the home.

Mrs. Dorothy Shady, breakfast 9 a.m. MISS JUDITH BYER IS WED IN TEXAS Miss Judith Byer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Byer, Willshire, Ohio, route 1, and Errol Hodges, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Errol Hodges, Sr., of Llano, Texas, exchanged their wedding vows in the Lackland Air Force base Catholic chapel at San Antonia, Texas, several weeks ago. The ceremony was performed by Rev. FT. Oliveres, base chaplain. The bride's (gjster and brpther-in-law, Mr. afiS Mrs. Ronald Brockmyer, Fort Wayne, were the only attendants. Following the ceremony a wedding luncheon at the Golden Dragon restaurant in San Antonia was served to 25 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Hodges, Jr., are both attached to the base hospital at Lackland, and are residing in San Antonia, while Hodges continues his studies at the university in Austin. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Byer and son Joe, and Mr; and Mrs. Ronald Brockmyer, Fort Wayne, traveled to Texas for the wedding. The Byer family are former residents of Decatur. Live and Learn home demonstration club will meet at the home of Mrs. Glen Roughia Wednesday afternoon at 1:30. The Golden Age group of the Methodist church will have their regular meeting Thursday at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Shady. This will be a breakfast held at 9 o’clock.

SARAH CIRCLE MEETS TUESDAY AFTERNOON On Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock the Sarah circle of the Decatur Evangelical United Brethren church met at the home of Mrs. David Wynn. The leader, Mrs. Harry Brown, opened the meeting with introduction of lesson, “Our Unity in Ecumemical Relations.” Devotions were given by Mrs. David Wynn, and a sentence prayer was offered by each mother during the period of meditation. Hymn, “In Christ There is no East or West,” was sung by those present, with Mrs. Frank Bohnke at the piano. Mrs. Homer Arnold gave the poem, “Eternal God.” An original skit, "No Buts,” was presented by Mrs. Charles Kent. An article on “The Message of the Third Assembly of World Council of Churches” was read by Mrs. John Kelley. Mrs. Cole gave several portions of scripture on giving to the church and its needs before taking of offering. Poem, “What is Charity, ’ was read by Mrs. Brown and the closing prayer given by Mrs. Frank Bohnke. The circle chairman, Mrs. John Kelley, had charge of the business meeting. Mrs. Sephus Jackson gave a report on reading course and Mrs. Cole, treasurer gave her report on finances. The projects are for special needs for McCurdy school in New Mexico. All articles are to be brought to the June meeting such as dish and bath towels, wash cloths, pillows cases and sheets. For clothing sizes call the chairman. Next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Edward Hesher, Mrs. Kelley dismissed the meeting with prayer which was followed by refreshments served by the hostess, Mrs. Wynn. Following the Pleasant Mills hlumni banquet which was held at the Pleasant Mitts high school last Satrday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Johnson entertained for the folowing: Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Goddard, Muskegon, Mich., Miss Vivian Noll and Miss Gail Tryon, Rome, N. The Eta Tau Sigma sorority will meet Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Don Stump jn Fort Wayne. ■ Locals Sgt. Paul L. Heiser is home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Felton, after being discharged from the service, having spent three years in the service, with years being spent in Germany. His wife and family will be following . him in June. Last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gass from Riveria Beach, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Bormann drove to Fairborn, Ohio, where they enjoyed dinner at the officer’s club with Lt. and Mrs.

Neuman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Neuman, Decatur. Miss Schneck is a third grade teacher at Bethlehem Lutheran school in Fort Wayne. After graduation from Michigan Lutheran seminary in Saginaw, she earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Concordia teachers college, River 111. Before taking her present assignment, she taught at Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Christian day school and Our Savior Lutheran school in Rego Park, N. Y. Her fiance was graduated from Madison-Marion consolidated high school in Hoagland. He is a graduate tool and die maker and was graduarted from Purdue University center in Fort Wayne. At present he is a process engineer at International Harvester company in Fort Wayne. The couple will be married July 20 at Trinity Lutheran church in St. Joseph, Mich.
