Help Wanted - Female LADIES — don’t let your budget fence you in. Have the extra money you want through part time work with Avon. Two openings in city, also Root, Union, St. Mary’s and Jefferson Townships. Write Box 798 or call 2195 Huntington, Ind. 113 3t Take Bids Aug. 1 For Youth Center INDIANAPOLIS (UPD—A new bid opening date of Aug. 1 for the first construction phase of the Indiana Youth Center was announced today after about 50 changes were made in previously drawn plans for the intermediate penal institution. The changes are expected to bring construction of the first three buildings within range of available money. A dormitory, administration building and custody building were scheduled for construction last year but bids were above the $2 million then available. However, Deputy Commissioner of Administration James Berg and Indiana Public Works Director Edwin Gibson said they went over the plans prepared by the architects and made numerous changes which they believe will bring the first phase costs well below the $2 million figure. Since then the 1963 Legislature appropriated another $2 million to be used for the second phase of the center which is to be located near Plainfield and will house first offenders 15 to 21 years old. The changes made by the State Department of Administration were handed to the architects, Louis Kingscott & Associates, Kalamazoo, Mich., and Curtis & Davis, New Orleans, with directions to incorporate them into a new set of plans. . Gibson said about $50,000 would 4ta. saved on each dormitory by changing the type of roofs. Originally, the roofs were to have been vaulted or pitched with overhangs to protect walkways. Berg claimed the vaulted roofs were put into the plans by the architects to provide a sense of spaciousness and said the state could not afford such extras. Air conditioning was removed from some areas and hot water was taken out of the custody building. Glazed tile walls were changed to concrete block, floors from terrazo to concrete. Other changes included substitution of steel window sashes for aluminum and a switch from oddsized door frames to standard. Hotel Fire Forces 250 Guests To Flee BOSTON (UPD — A threealarm fire broke out early today in the seven-story Hotel Somerset forcing at least 250 guests, including the Los Angeles Angels baseball team, to flee in nightclothes. Two persons, a husband and wife, were overcome by smoke and were admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital. Fire officials sa'id the fire was brought under control within an hour after the first alarm was sounded. „—
