Revenue Board To Ignore Court Rule INDIANAPOLIS (UPD — The Indiana Revenue Board voted Monday to ignore a circuit court ruling and wait until June 1 before collecting an extra one-cent-per-pack cigarette tax. The board was told by Ray Olson, head of the cigarette tax division, that it would cost the state more to put the tax into operation today than if it waited until the specified date of June 1. Olson said forms already have been sent for collection of the tax on all floor stock which would be ready for sale by June 1. and he said an estimated half-million dollars would be collected in this way. If the forms have to be recalled, the half-million probably would be lost, he said. Marion Circuit Judge John L. Niblack ruled May 8 that because of the repeal of one section of a 1947 law imposing a three-cent cigarette tax, another section had gone into effect with the signing of the new law on April 22, making the tax four cents effective as of that day.
