The department said Monday it would not oppose this year accreditation for the Hungarian delegation at the United Nations. The lack of credentials for the delegation has left the Hungarians in a uncertain state while allowing them to participate in U.N. activities. Officials said the action would still leave the United States free to oppose Hungarian membership if there were strong congressional opposition.
