buildings. The Chicago conference was sponsored by the American society for church architecture and was designed to assist building committees and planning groups to better design their new structures. The keynote speech with slides* entitled “What Should your Church look Like,” was delivered by Al£rt ChriitJoner, Dean of Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York, and co-author of the new book, Modern Church Architecture.” Lecture and slide presentations by three experts examined the Episcopal chapel at the Illinois Institute of Technology, the Concordia Senior College chapel at Fort Wayne, and the Chapel of Notre Dame du Hait at Ronchamp, France. The unusual and distinguishing features of each were shown and explained. Separate, simultaneous workshop sessions discussed: Exploring what to build; financing aspects of a building program; and first units and master planning. Additional workshops were held on fine arts and the church, education and fellowship, and acoustics and the choir. Each workshop was moderated by a recognized expert in his area with a panel presenting various denominations. A question and answer period with active audience participation followed the formal presentations. A large exhibit with displays of church furnishings, art glass, pews and numerous photos and models of recently built churches, plus commercial displays, wds held along with the conference. Those in attendance were Rev. J. O. Penrod, Rev. F. P. Miller, William F. Christen, and Richard E. Malony from the Decatur E. U. B. church, and Rev. Richard C. Ludwig, George W. Ouer, Norman Wittee, and Louis A. Jacobs of Zion Lutheran church.
