Monmouth Jr. Merry Maids A joint meeting of the boys and girls 4-H clubs was held at the Monmouth school, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Leroy Boerger, president. The pledges were led by four of the club members. Devotions were led by Rosemary Hirschy and Sherry Boerger. Die boys’ club gave a skit on parliamentary procedure. The boys’ club was adjourned, and the girls’ meeting was called to order by Cynthia Boreger, president. The roll call was answered with, “A bad habit.” The junior roll call was “Why We appreciate mother.” The senior minutes and treasurer’s reports were given by Joye Strouce and 1 Lindia Geyer. The junior’s were given by Beverly Geyer and Janice Ritter. Barbara Rydell and Lindia Geyer gave a demonstration on making a blueberry dessert. Karen Kunkel and Janice Ritter, on stay stitching. Mr. Robinson showed some slides. The mothers were honored at the meeting with a tea. The refreshments were served by both clubs. The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be May 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Monmouth school. St. Mary’s Sodbusters Die St. Mary’s Sodbusters met Tuesday at the Pleasant Mills school. Paul Rich was in charge of the meeting, and pledges were " led by Gary Ross and Dave Hitchcock. There was group singing led by Jim Butler and Ed Daniels. “The name of my favorite teacher,” was given for roll call. Paul Rich gave a talk on photographing. Harold and Allen Mailand gave a talk on home ground improvement. The next meeting will be May 14, at the Pleasant Mills school, 7:30 p.m. Union Workers The Union Workers club met Tuesday at the home of the adult leader, Robert Plumley. Die president, Richy Gerbers, was in charge of the meeting. Die pledges were led by Roger Lehrman and Dean Wass. Jerry Brown led the group singing. There were demonstrations given by Dean Wass and Edwin Steiner. Diere will be a skating party May 14, The next meeting will be May 7 at 7:30 p.m., — in the home of the adult leader, Roger Lehrman. Members are urged to buy tickets for the skating party from any member of the dub. City Slickers The City Slickers, Washington township, met Wednesday evening in the Lincoln school. Tim Singleton was in charge of the meeting, and pledges were led by Tom Coolman, who also led , the group singing. Diere was a movie, presented by Leo Seltenright, “By Map and Compass.” Seltenright also gave a demonstration in “How do do it.” A fundraising drive was discussed. The next meeting will be May 8, 7:30 p.m., in the Lincoln school. i Monmouth Senior Merry Maids Die Monmouth Senior Merry Maids, Root township, met April 22, at 7:30 p. m. The meeting was held at the Monmouth high school, and Cindy Boerger was in charge. Pledges were led by Judy Rydell and Linda Geyer; Sharon Witty, Kathy Schieferstein and Dianne Miller led the group singing. Mr. Robinson, Monmouth art instrucntor, presented slides of his trip through the west. Roll call was answered with, “A bad habit.” A demonstration on a blueberry dessert was given by Barb Rydell and Linda Geyer; one on staystitching by Karen Kunkel and Janice Ritter. The health and safety report on care of the teeth was given by Freddy Fuelling. There was a skit, on parliamentary procedure presented. A roller skating party for May 31, at Happy Hours roller rink will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 p. in. The next meeting will be May 6, at 7:30 p. m., in the Monmouth high school. A poem, dedicated to mothers, was read by Kristine Fuelling. Refreshments of tea and cookies were served to the group and the mothers present, Decatur Peppy Gals Die Decatur Peppy Gals held their meeting in the home economics room of the Decatur high school, Thursday, April 25. It was opened with the pledges to the .American flag and to the 4-H flag, ' led by Nancy Grabill and Mary Swoveland. The minutes were read and approved. The health and safety report, given by Kathy Burk, was on a family health plan. There was an announcement of a special meeting for those enrolled in crafts. Demonstrations were given by Nancy Swickard and Carol Frisinger, entitled “The well equipped sewing basket.” —- Rita Norquest, Mary Pat Heller and Ann Cowan showed how to make chocolate chip cookies. The songs were led by Karen Wolfe and Tonna Bultemeier.
