Custer, 825 Winchester St., announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Gayle, to Raymond Paul Lantemier, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lanternier, Marion. Miss Custer is a graduate of Decatur high school and of the Mennonite Hospital school of nursing, Bloomington, 111. She is employed as a surgical nurse by the CaylorNickel Clinic hospital in Bluffton. Lanternier, a graduate of Central Catholic high school, Fort Wayne, is presently serving his sixth year with the United States Air Force at Bunker Hill Air Force Base, Peru. He is the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. James Wall, 303 Limberlost Trail. The wedding is being planned for October 27, in the Decatur Evangelical United Brethren Church, Trinity.

GIRL SCOUT COUNCIL 701 MEETS Neighborhood council 701, Girl Scouts, met at the Girl Scout cabin recently. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Ruth Railing who told the proper way to hold a flag ceremony. The group sang, “God Has Created a New Day.” A delicious luncheon was served by Mrs. Lehman and her committee from Berne. Roll call was taken by passing a paper so that each person present could sign her name. All the troops must be registered as well as the adults associated with them. Registration began April 22 and will continue until April 30. Each troop must have day camp registration forms. It was voted to buy tents. Mrs. Christensen, site director for Camp McMillen, had a good display of tents and showed how to erect them. The motion was carried to buy four Baker tents and four flies. There was a program of songs and prayers, taught by Mrs. Arthur Girod and Mrs. Norman Beaver. Mrs. Ruth Christensen read and told of many interesting wide games to be taught to the girls Mrs. Ruth Railing gave the closing ceremony, and the meeting closed with the Scout hymn. MISS MATTOX HONORED WITH BRIDAL SHOWER Mrs. James Corah, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Orville Royer, gave a kitchenware bridal shower at the latter’s home Tuesday evening in honor of Miss Sharon Mattox, bride-elect of Wayne Myers.
