Commodores Are Edged By Columbia City Columbia City scored a run in the top of the jeventh inning to send the Decatur Commodores down to a 3-2 defeat in their ise'asw's opener at Hanna-Nutt-man park Wednesday afternoon. The two teams had been tied after the third inning, before the Columbia City nine broke the deadlock in the seventh. The winners scored single tallies in each of the first two innings, both unearned, but the Commodores tied matters With a pair of markers in the third frame. Singles by Hey and Johnson, the latter’s third base hit of the game, accounted for the winning tally. An error and singles by Hey and Johnson scored the first Eagle run, and three errors and a fielder’s choice accounted for their second tally. Pat Gage walked to open the Commodore third, and after two were out, Terry Myers rapped out another single. Ed Kohne followed suit with a one-baser, sending both Gage and Myers home to score. Each team had seven hits, Honorable Mention For Terry Marbach An artic v .r. me March 28 edition of the Daily Democrat erronously stated that Terry Marbach, a Decatur high school graduate and a student at Purdue University, had been awarded a national science foundation fellowship in economics. The actual award, however, was honorable mention in the competition.
